It depends on the seriousness of the crime committed. A pit maneuver is considered deadly force / a felony stop. If all police solidly have are like, a lane infraction or tail light out and the suspect runs, it makes justifying deadly force difficult.

There's also a chance they'll try to fight back and then the cops can neutralize the threat for good in that case. And we need arrests to be made to bring the problem into public eye if we ever want things to change. Or would you rather just have complete lawlessness?
