I also have a 2004 Highway Strat purchased that year. It's a white model with maple board (Gilmour fan here). And like you, I didn't hesitate to modify it with locking tuners and an ObsidianWire Custom Blender Harness. It was my first "real" guitar after a couple of sub-brand ones. I love this guitar to death and it also has a special connection to my late father.
This is the only Fender model I would ever buy.
Awesome story, I had my Highway one tattooed on my arm and love the thing. 2001 model. Van Sant pickups and locking tuners. the thing is beautiful.

Hi, just clicked on a clip of you playing a solo and had to quickly swing round to make sure my Highway One was on its stand - they really could be twins! Corona factory 2004/early 2005 according to the serial number. I fitted GFS noiseless pickups and Planet Wave locking tuners and couldn't be happier - it's my go to guitar. Anyway, enjoyed your playing and great to see another "humble" Strat out there...
It's simple to make the lower tone control a MASTER tone. Simplifies just like a Tele.

I have a 2002 and she is a dream to play , read a ton about this model of strats not one bad review , well you always have that one guy that's gotta talk smack but bout 99% of the reviews were all positive

I'm a right handed player and I lost my left handed '09 Highway One in a Pawn Shop that was setup for Hendrix stuff ... Best Strat that I ever played : (
How did you lose it?
@@psychopompous3207 I was diagnosed with cancer and I had to supplement my income to support my family. I thought that if I pawn it, I will get it out later. It was in pawn for a year and i just couldn't make payments.
@@fanoboss Did you defeat cancer? Do you miss your guitar? Did you name him or her?

@@fanoboss Damn...do you have any idea where she went? I have multiple guitars, down to about 12 or so. I want to get down to 10...but narrowing down two more is hard for me. I would miss them. I have also named my greatest guitars, so I can imagine how much it must suck.

I just bought a 2006 HSS rosewood. It's my first Strat. And my first USA made fender. I have a Tele Baja Mexi That's been thru the custom Shop and love it. When I first picked up the H.O. it was totally a foreign feel. But Now I have it apart cleaning it and photoing the guts. I'm looking for a video that gives me the factory pickup heights and cleaning instructions. I got a great deal of $500 and it's in excellent condition except for a few very tiny blemishes. I have a feeling this one's going to be with me for a long time. I'm subscribed now Chris and look forward to your videos. Is there one that tears into the Highway One a little bit more? Thanks!
I got the same one with a maple neck, i love this model . I have also a strat plus 1997 but i prefere this one !
I have an old Blonde HWY1 possibly 2002 small headstock which I modded extensively. I replaced the tuners with the old style Klusons and the tone is more “airy”. I really like it!
Does the blonde still have the old school finish that chips off over time?

LOL! Fender should have "corrected" themselves about the finish when they were marketing the guitar: A 10 second Google found this from 2005 "The Highway One™ Stratocaster guitar features....a high resonance, low gloss, satin lacquer topcoat that lets the tone ring out and sustain for days."
Love the videos sir. Had a quick question about your Highway 1 Strat, is it true that these were nitro finished?
It’s not nitro, but it is a lacquer of some sort.

What number are the 2002-05 HW-1 Strat pups Alnico 2 or 5? The 2006-2010 have A3 hot pickups. I’ve a 2004 Strat, 2005 and 2007 Teles. Great guitars.
