    Great explanation. I think that generally these bearings incoporate 5 pads and 5 pads only!! Can you please explain why is it exactly this way ?

Firstly, five-pad bearings excel in heat dissipation, surpassing the thermal management capabilities of three or four-pad designs. Additionally, the extra pads contribute to enhanced stability, a crucial factor in many applications. However, it's worth noting that a smaller number of pads can often accommodate higher load carrying capacities.

      3 jaw lathe chuck are self centre & 4 jaw chuck are not self centre. always keep odd number of pads.
