It IS rather amusing how many teams have a tiger as their mascot. Of course, I guess there aren’t a lot of ferocious wild animals in the US.

@JoshMancuso a suggestion is Texas Tech Red Raiders. Two mascots (Masked Rider and Raider Red), called the Matadors and Red Raiders. Perfect confusion for mascot choice. :)
