I'm 53 and have ridden this and more in Moab. I coach my local high-school NICA team and still race Enduro in Western NC. I don’t plan to slow down until my mid 70's if I can help it. My family and friends think I'm crazy. My 15 year old son does not. Love to ride with him and his friends. You guys are showing us all that it's totally doable. Thanks.
Good job guys. I just turned 60 in Nov. Captain Ahab is one of my all-time favorites. I get out there about every other year. Last time I was out there my rear shock lost about 60% of its air about halfway through the ride, but I still rode 90% of the downhill. Of course, at 50% of normal speed and keeping most of my weight forward to keep from damaging my frame. Still had a blast. Love to see the old guys crushing it!!
Great job, seniors! Thanks for the reminders. I rode parts of the Ahab trails as a youth of 64. I walked some of the sections since I was by myself. I did this after the San Juan Huts Trail from Purgatory to Moab. Coming down parts of the Whole Enchilada with abundant touring gear was tough on the brakes and my hands, so I diverted in places. Gotta try that unloaded sometime soon before I get old.
My friend and I (51 and 53) have committed to riding every iconic destination in North America until we can’t do it any more. We did these trails last year. Thanks for the inspiration.
As impressive as your downhill skills are, I am in awe that you cleaned all those technical uphill sections the day after riding the Whole Enchilada. Those sections kicked my butt when I was fresh. Props! Mike (66 y/o)
Rode WE in September with my son to celebrate one year with my third aortic valve (congenital heart patient). I’m young though at 57. Rode Klondike bluffs the next day and fell in a cactus. 😂
More power to you. I used to ride Moab back in the 90s when i was young, but i dont think i have the guts to ride there now. Busted my arse many a time back then and dont think my 58 year old body could take bouncing down a rock ledge anymore.
Yeah, the Ripley is perfect for my tamer local trails, but I’m a little under-biked when I take it to Moab. Plus I’m a tightwad; but thinking of trading for a Ripmo next year.
Props! As a 62yo with 2 knee replacements, I'm impressed and inspired. Done Moab many times in a built Jeep, but not sure this eMTB'er wants to take on the Ahab challenge!
Nice riding and really nice video. I can only dream of having that kind of clarity and production value for my videos. Good job. As a fellow over 60er I have subscribed to see what other trails you will conquer.
Make that 70! I’m in. Always wanted to do this, east coaster here, but not alone. No connections there. Been on many lesser trails there. Moab is nurvana😂
It’s azz backwards but the key to Captain Ahab is speed/momentum. I was in Moab in Oct but got a tooth ache cut the trip short never made it to Captain Ahab.
I really like North Klondike trail system. Very easy single track on Agate/Jasper/Jurrassic to warm up and Dino Flow is a great intermediate trail without any high consequence features. Plus you might see a Pronghorn or a big Grey Owl if you’re lucky.

That is impressive. Keep it up. I also get the "Are you crazy? Shouldn't you be gardening at your age?" comments. I ignore that.
👴👴
There’s 53 year olds around here who thrash 90% of 30 year olds.
Don't listen to anyone! Keep riding and stay in shape. I raced dirt bikes into my 50's then have been riding MTB on trails ever since and I'm 71.
53 isn't old hey!

Been riding Moab since 87, moved here in 99. Still riding every day at 76yo.
Jealous. What is your favorite trail in Moab?

@@Over60MTB rode at bar-m this morning in an inch of fresh snow.
@@tedecker I rode on snow on Whole Enchilada last year. Not easy for this Texas boy.
Great to see other old heads out there.

Yeah "before I get too old" is something I say a lot too.

Love that idea! Us oldsters gotta keep on ridin.

Appreciate it! I’m 63 and my brother in the video is 65. Gets harder every year doesn’t it?

Sounds like a great trip. Other than the cactus 🤣. Keep ridin!
There are what I term as "rude plants" in some areas. Hopefully you healed quickly.
Love going to Moab and love this trail. I’m not a “senior citizen” yet, but over 50 and your videos are inspirational.
Thanks. I’m grateful to still be able to ride Moab’s best at my age.

That's my buddies, Jeff & Doug... Yeahaw!!
The Ripley is an awesome ride but only 120 travel so especially nice job through that rough stuff!

My ultimate goal in life is to be like these guys when I grow up!
Much appreciated. I still love riding as much as ever.
Yep that is one insane trail! Views are amazing.
I started taking my mtb to moab in 1988. just basically the slickrock trail and a few jeep roads.
Props! As a 62yo with 2 knee replacements, I'm impressed and inspired. Done Moab many times in a built Jeep, but not sure this eMTB'er wants to take on the Ahab challenge!
Kindred spirits! Similar age and 2 knee replacements for me also.
Nicely done and clipped in! Flat pedal riders don't understand the commitment clips require 🤪
Thanks. Clipped in is all I’ve ever known, so too old to change now 😄
I met a guy racing the AZT 300 with me, he was in his 70s and still racing! He had been doing the route for over 15 years!
Amazing
2 words brother. HELL YEAH
Man these senior citizens know how to party!
Nice job old guys! Haha! Beast of a trail! 😎🍺
Thanks! Agree - an epic ride. Can't imagine living there and having that as my home trail.
Epic !! 🫡🫡

I really appreciate your comment!! Makes all that editing time worthwhile. And yes - more old guy videos to come!
Excellent. I'm just editing my ride from today. My editing, however, is much more basic. Keep up the good work.
I am a 62 y.o. mtbiker. This is one of my favorite trails. We should start a 60+ club.

Way Cool!
You're scarring this old trail biker @2:14 !!!! And most of the whole video!
First time I rode Lower Ahab I walked a lot of techy spots. Each time I ride tho, it gets a little less intimidating.
Inspirational, if I get to reach 50, may I still be riding.
Thanks! I didn't start riding til age 52 but gotta admit, I'm addicted. Fun, challenging, stay fit, beautiful outdoor scenery - can't beat it!
Fun to watch. I’m 62 and just returned from annual Moab trip. Keep on keeping on!
Thanks for the comment. Back at ya!
Are there any easy trails in Moab? I'd like to go next summer.
Yes - Moab has Mtb trails for all skill levels from beginner to advanced.
@@Over60MTB Thanks!
Check out the Deadhorse Point trails. Nothing scary and killer views. When your confidence is up move on to Navajo Rocks.

You boys need ebbs! I'm catching up to y'all ( 58 ) and I'm telling you e mtbs are where it's at for us old geezers lol.
😬 Yeah we talk about that pretty often. But for now I still enjoy riding my old fashioned Ibis Ripley .

You guys keep on riding good work fellas!!!
OMG no 😮
Good shit. 👍
