I was there too & yes, it was great. But Winwood was badly miked & I couldn't understand one word when he spoke, including when he introduced his Band and his daughter Lilly on Vocals.
I have just returned from seeing The Doobie Brothers in Ridgefield, WA, tonight (Portland, OR area). It was a killer show - and I am so glad to see this as I relive it! Thanks!
One of those bands you are just so happy they are still around in 2024. Good time music that makes you feel good. That's what music is supposed to do, My friends.
Well neighbor I definitely agree! But every generation of music had to follow the agenda and now we are at the final musical agenda, depressing , violent repetitive and disgusting.
I’m going to this concert tonight in Denver. It’s my wife & I anniversary (28 years) gift. For one, this will be my first concert ever. I’m 53 years old. Two, I’m a retired musician (guitarist) and lastly, this is one of my favorite bands. Thank you for sharing, I’m sure the concert was electric live and in person
My fave band ever. Their musical expertise, vocals, harmonies and songwriting abilities have no equal in the rock genre, has been that way for decades.
The Doobies are an orchestral group. They cover so much territory and their leads and harmonies are great. They are a rock and roll band with elements of jazz, bluegrass, folk, blues and R and B. No other band comes close to their diversity. I have seen them more than 100 times through every iteration and they just keep getting better. MM is as gospel as they can get and infuses so much soul into their repertoire. The only thing that could be better is if they change up their set list and integrate more deeper cuts from their amazing collection. Pat Simmons has a trove of songs that deserve showcasing and which have never been played. But all in all-these guys are consummate players. They could play anything and everything and there is a reason they are so loved. It is because they are good souls, family men and humble musical servants to the world. There will never be a group like the Doobies and I hope they just continue chugging along on their love train.

Just witnessed this rocking band at Mohegan Sun yesterday! These guys are amazing, so much talent, 50 years and still going strong. What a blessing. Had a great time. Looking forward to seeing them again 😊
seeing Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald together onstage is awesome.. and these guys clearly have their chops very much intact.. love the Doobie Bros.
I only have one thing to say here, In 1978 I saw The Stones, The Doobie Bros. and A new Band Van Halen, @ the Superdome in New Orleans, Van Halen opened up, Very Loud and Distorted, The Doobie's were next up, The Sound was Crystal Clear, and Very Enjoyable, The Stones sound went back to being Distorted, They were O.K., But the Doobie's Stole The Show !!
I had a long sleeve T-shirt from that show with all three bands on it. It was yellow with band names printed in red. I was fortunate to procure it from Doobies drummer, the late Keith Knudsen. Unfortunately my ex wife confiscated it.
@@briandonnelly4497haha I couldn’t agree more. The Doobie Brothers crowd wasn’t ready for a band like Van Halen, that’s for sure! Eddie Van Halen blew everyone’s socks off that night lol.
If American rock and roll for the past 50 years can be encompassed in one band, that band is The Doobies. They've barely lost a step in half a century. Long live this iconic band, still rocking in their 70s!
Thanks for posting the Doobie bros set. Steve's set was top notch. I think either band could have headlined. Though I do gotta give Michasl Mcdonald the MVP award last night. The first bunch of Doobie bros tunes were ok but everything picked up once they started playing the old tunes. A few things stood out for me. I never realized how short some of the old songs were til last night. They should have jammed and stretched some of the songs Along with that I'd have to saI Michael Mcdonald imho was the MVP of the night. His voice is so soulful and sounded just like he did many years ago. His keys playing is really great too. I'd say his songs were the best from the Doobies set.. It was Beautiful hearing them live! I think if he wasn't back in The Doobies bros than a good case could be made for Winwood headlining. But he made the best use of the time he had to open the show. The Doobie bros were really good as well. Their setlist took a little to get going but once it did all the tunes were great to hear. Having Michael Mcdonald back in the band really added alot to everything they played. And I'd have to say he still has one of the best voices from that era that sounds exactly how iit did back then. I'd go see him anytime.. One thing that was pretty cheesy was that video screen behind them just playing some old show of their's. Wtf? They would have been better off with no backdrop like Winwood or they could have easily made it more interesting. At the least they would have been better off focusing on shots of them while playing at that moment..
Totally Agreed NYC ! & I’d add Tom Johnston also Killed It as Well as Marc Russo on Sax-just Tremendous & a Great Showman. Heck, as U said They ALL did GREAT Man !!
I hope they’re paying John Cowan a lot of money. He’s a hell of a singer and bass player one of the best. His new grass revival singing was amazing. It’ll never be the same without tiran but it’s a nice addition, and he is 70 and still singing his ass off Meanwhile more royalties for holland dozier holland ;)
Journey band members Cain and Schonn should hang with these brothers and learn RESPECT and INTEGRITY. You boys been suing each other on and off going back the last 3-4 years. SAD very SAD..Makes me want to distant myself from the band the last 3-4 years plus Arnels voice early struggles. Listen to him when he started with Journey vs now, he struggles badly now with his voice 😢
I like MM but can't understand a word he's singing. I don't begrudge him his work with the Doobies but I was a Tom Johnston fan. Having said that MM is very talented
@@extrasouth what's funnier is every single Nashville singer sounds like they came from a mold on a production line. Couldn't distinguish one from the other.
Jeff Baxter is touring with his own backup musicians. I saw him last year in Hopewell Virginia at the Beacon Theater. The Beacon holds about 640 seats. Very small. One other detail: Jeff performed the show from a sit-down position. He admitted having back problems. Still, his performance was well received.
At this point I wanna see a Doobie Brothers greatest hits show. Don’t wanna hear any new stuff. They don’t even play South city midnight, Lady. They’ve been playing still crazy after all these years by Paul Simon. Why in the world would they do that? Save your money.!!
"We have a great band" - well it's hard to tell, because this video zooms in and out and in and out and in and out and back and forth and back and forth and...instead of just showing the entire stage, period.

An absolutely wonderful show!
Steve Winwood and the Doobies still kill it!!
I had to jump in again to shout out hearfelt praise and deep love for these guys--especially Steve Winwood and my old school crush, Michael McDoald!
Phooey! Typo-- Michael Mc Donald!
Just as great as ever! Thank you for uploading this.
Great Job

I agree John is so underrated as a singer, The New Grass Revival song Calling Baton Rouge was on another level as was all their music.
John Cowan is the best ever!!
I thought it was Steve Bannon.
Great show and upload, nice to see the Doobies packing MSG in 2024! Which Doobie you-bie? 😃🎸
Hello great video What kind of camera did you use to videotape this??
Michael McDonald takin it to the streets...... give me chills fuckin amazing !
OUT FREAKIN STANDING! They still sound great and I doubt their lip syncing like the Eagles and Henley.
Michael's voice sounds much better than another show I had seen earlier. maybe he had a cold or a bug? Sounds really strong here.
They were on what’s happening.
Best band ever.
Rock on, brothers!
Marc Quinones on Percussion! OH YEAH!!!!!
They did "Here To Love You" instead of their big hit "Real Love" 🤔

MM joining Tom on the pre-MM numbers is a radical touch, and actually enhances the composition. We aren't hearing enough of Pat Simmons
Look at Michael McDonald’s studio level keyboard work and you will appreciate his contribution even more.

Because he’s the best singer in the band.
