Lacoste (French Lacoste) is a commune in the French department of Vaucluse in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Belongs to the canton of Bonnieux.
Lacoste is located 39 km east of Avignon. Neighboring communes: Bonnieux and Buou in the east, Menerbes in the west, Goule and Saint-Panteleon in the northwest.
The population of the commune in 2010 was 413 people.
    Attractions:
Lacoste Castle, 11th century. Owned by Pierre Cardin.
    Church of the 12th century.
Former Protestant cathedral, 19th century, now a municipal hall.
Cedar forest in the Petite Luberon, 207 hectares.
Lacoste, built on a very old site implanted at the foot of a limestone ledge, has an exceptional situation. Exposed to the sun, protected from the mistral and close to an important source of perennial water.
In part, the village owes its reputation to the exceptional quality of the limestone, which is soft and pure extracted from its quarries, and which, along with agriculture, has created economic activity that contributes to the development of the community.
Having suffered, like the entire region, from the scourge of "epidemics, wars and robberies" of the 14th century, Lacoste was settled at the end of the 15th century by Waldensians from the high valleys. These Vaudois, who rallied to reform in 1532, were the pretext for the dismissal of the village during the expedition determined by the Parliament of Aix in 1545. Note that Lacoste, unlike its neighboring localities, was in Provence, and attached to the crown of France since 1481, whereas the Count of Venaisin would not be until after the 1789 revolution.
Lacoste is a place rich in history, and its heritage inspires many local artists, but also those passing by.
