4 flights with it this evening. FYI- Not the best choice at dusk with mixed clouds and a light blue sky. I even painted the canopy and wingtips candy apple red, didn’t matter, just disappeared. Luckily I picked it up when it was inverted, screaming towards the ground. A minute later, happened again. Decided to finish the evening with the ArrowsRC T-28. A blind person can see that paint scheme. Love the Marlin. Did a gear upgrades- Broken F-16 Thunderbird spring loaded strut on the nose, and two soft/foamy wheels on the mains. Took my one issue with the Marlin out of play- It doesn’t bounce anymore and it stops on rollout in 20 feet.
@@FatGuyFliesRC our runway, if you can use that word, is short, sloped and rough. Our style is reminiscent of naval carrier landings- Come in low in the opposite direction, turn and reduce speed, get lined up and hope you’re not too high or you have to wave off. I’ve broken the nose gear pins on the F-16 Thunderbird, the Eflite a-10 and the Sonic Binary, not with hard landings, but running off the end of the runway. Brutal place to land, but a great field to fly at. The 80mm a-10, Me-262, and the 1600mm warbirds can’t land there, but my 1100-1200mm landings have certainly got more precise. I’ve worn out the twin otter and the Marlin learning to hit a 10 foot area. So the mods to the Marlin have helped the bounces and slow down.
On the Vampire the manual cg is way wrong! Put a big 4s as far forward as you can!! I used a 3200 to finally get her flyable almost sticking out the nose....lol
@@FatGuyFliesRC yah, I don't trust manual CG, always look it up from other people's videos, lol. So where is your CG point after all? I found some videos saying 290mm from the nose is a good point. Im gonna fly with a HobbyStar 3000mah 4S. Gonna set it at 280-285mm on maiden. Nose heavy jets fly fast, tail heavy jets fly once. lol Got it with a 20% discount on labor day. So its a great opportunity to try out some custom builds. Gonna add flap, rudder and maybe LED&gear doors.
Actually I have found they are beneficial at slower speeds , if you don't have them dialed in right they cause you to oscillate too much at higher speeds.
Yeah I need to get the EDFs out again, just been flying the props jobs for a while. No I put low bounce ones on my (now sold) HABU sts. ( I got the HABU SS) that's why I sold the STS.
You mentioned you've put in lemon receivers in your planes before. How come you didn't choose to put in a $30 lemon receiver with gyro(lm0044) in this jet?
I took the opportunity with this non e flite plane to see how easy or hard it would be to use the AR630 programable receiver. Its not to hard but a Lemon rx with stability would have been good too. I had some credit with hobbyzone so I splurged a little with a more expensive receiver.
This little jet always delivers a good time!!
nice ...really like the Marlin...
Me too! Its a great little edf.

Thanks for the visit and the landing gear mod info!

nice job
Thanks for the visit
Marlin is a super fun easy flying jet
I love it!
Wanted a jet running 4S, bought the HK vampire last week. If it doesn't work out, I'm gonna get one of these.

What is the best battery for this marlin? So far, I love spektrum 30c but what would you say is 2nd best?
I favor a 2700 4s pushed back a bit. Either Spektrum or roaring top.
Does gyro(as3x) make a big improvement in this jet?
Actually I have found they are beneficial at slower speeds , if you don't have them dialed in right they cause you to oscillate too much at higher speeds.
@@FatGuyFliesRC thank you. i think i'll just get the admiral receiver and not enable gyro then.
You haven't done a video on your Marlin in a while. Did you say that you switched to Dubro low-bounce wheels?

@@FatGuyFliesRC Do you need to do a range test on every outing with Lemon receivers too? Are they as reliable as Spektrum?
Will a AR631 receiver work fine?
It should.
@@FatGuyFliesRC Can forward programming for safe and as3x be set up for this plane using this receiver?
it's pretty fast
Yes it can be! Thanks for the visit!
