You missed few things Fooster, here is most likely the story: Okay so in the beginning you see a red dude take timmy ( your son ) and walk off with him. He is known as the Red Mutant. In the end you will se a projector of some mutants and their names and their ages, they are children. The projector reads their age, mutation specifications and " parents are willing to pay " . If you go farther you will find many " observation room 001-020 " these are children that were brought back to life. So someone in another discussion has said that the Red Mutant is megans daughter which is correct but also said that he was doing test on the kids. That is wrong. He would not be charging parents to bring their children back to life in the middle of an island plus he would have to be rich to come up with all the money to do so. I think that some organization found a way to bring people back to life but had to sacrifice a living person to do so ( not knowing a year later they would turn into mutants ) . So for a while they had a base on this random island, in a forest, under a cave in a sink whole, and past a vault door. They would take paying parents and say " we can bring your dead child back to life for money " and what parent would not do that so they were making money and people were getting their kids back... for a year only. The first artifact they found was the pyramid shaped thing which sacrifices a living person to bring somone back and the second one brings down a plane. So the Scientists or the resurrection group had the kids and the artifacts to bring people back to life but no people to use for sacrifice. This is where the second artifact comes in handy. The second artifact was used to bring down planes and crash them down so the resurrection group could take any survivors and use them to bring kids back to life for a LOT of cash from paying parents. All was going well until later the kids would seiz and turn into a mutant, so the scientists asked for ALL of the kids back for "observation" and were put into rooms to keep them away from the real world. All went to hell as you see most of the observation rooms were broken open and blood is everywhere (probably the original scientist) And the Mutated kids were roaming free on this island and very angry ( you kill armsy a 6 year old mutated kid ). So I think that mathew cross (megans father) is a scientist for sahara therapeutics and he worked with the resurrection artifact that they had found in the cave and they had built a lab around the artifact to make money off of bringing peoples children back to life. Somehow Megan cross was dead and mathew cross's main research on the resurection artifact was to bring his daughter back from the dead and he also had her body. Obviously he could not do this alone and had to have a team/company to help him build the lab and work on the children. I think they made money from all of the survivors from your plane crash ( the first crash ) by using them to bring back the children and also to bring back the head scientists daughter Megan. So mathew had crashed your plane and took timmy while wearing blood on his body so he could use timmy to bring back megan from the dead. shortly after megan was brought back to life all of the other resurected children started mutating. I think it took longer for others to mutate ( megan, timmy ) because they were given a lower "dose" as you can read on a post note that they are given a certain dose of something to bring them to life. So megan was alive and well while all of the others were mutating. I think the first stage of the mutation is just a normal slimey mutant as you fight them through out the game ( they will later turn into monster freaks ) because when you first find megan she is covered in slime like the mutants but she has not turned into a big monster yet. so the other kids were in the observation rooms and they were mutants but not monsters and the scientists knew something was wrong. The kids that were given a higher dose were the ones that turned into the monsters first and broke out of their rooms only to kill most of the scientists, somehow mathew and megan survived this. shortly after that, megan had killed her father with pencils ( as you see in the lab ) and she was about to turn into monster like the rest. So she walked to a big room with her fathers blood on her feet and sat on the floor, colored, and played with a toy plane. this is when you come around to try and find a sacrifice for your child. Now at this point you have already found the lab and found dead timmy in the artifact and need to find a sacrifice for the machine to bring timmy back to life ( not knowing the sacrifice needs to be alive) You find megan and she turns into a tree mutant thing ( about a year after her resurrection) you kill megan for the second time and she is brought back to the artifact and you find out you need a live sacrifice to bring your son back. Megan drops a keycard ( probably got it from her dad the scientist ) and you go onto the next room to find the second artifact. You see the radar and press the activate button and see a yellow colored plane crash into the forest ( our plane was blue that is how i know you do not see your own plane crash de-bunking the theory that you are the red guy that picked up timmy in the beggining ). The cutscene starts with " 1 year later". Now when the plane crashed my theory is that you went down to the yellow plane and found a live sacrifice ( someones son/daughter) to bring timmy back to life, brought the child back to the artifact and brought timmy back to life ( not knowing timmy would ever turn ). Now back to the cutscene, Your book is called "rescued" which means you were rescued from the island either by a searchteam or a passing boat less than a year later with your son timmy. I know you got off the island less than a year after timmys resurection because he had to have time to write a book. So timmy is twitching out and acting weird but you proceed and talk to the man hosting the show. After about 20 seconds it goes scilent and the curtans open in the back to show two standing trees, The host probably wants to chop wood with you like you did in your survival. You are thinking " well sh*t i do not want to do this ever again that was the worst thing of my life ". You look at the crowd, and look back at the host and nodd your head yes. You proceed to chop the invincible wood with the host and hear the worst noise of your life. The host drops his axe in fear while you stare at your own only to think you will have to kill your own son because he is about to turn into a crazy mutant just like you saw megan. And that is when the cutscene ends. Now all of the children that were resurected turned into different monster/mutants. There was virginia who turned into a 6 legged creature with multiple sex orgins as seen on the projector and found dead in the lab. There was a 6 year old kid who turned into armsy who you killed not to far past the dead virginia mutation body. There was a really really REALLY big mutated kid found in observation room H right after you kill armsy who inflated to the entire room. And then there was megan who turned into that tree monter thing which we saw go down. There is no telling what timmy turned into as we did not see but it couldnt have been anything like the others because they were all so different there is no way to tell but whatever he turned into, it went down on live TV and either you killed you mutated son or it killed you and everyone in there. This has been one of the most plot twisting and most crazy storys/endings in a video game that i have ever seen and this game diserves IGN 10/10 lmao, seriously these devs are so crazy for this i do not know how they came up with any of this stuff and peiced it together so well but we as a community need to figure out what the hell went down on this mysterious island. sometime within the year of timmys resurected life i think there was a father/mother that survived the yellow plane that you took down and he probably already found his kid in the artifact where you left him dead to bring back your son, so he is going to bring down another plane and get a child from the crash and take that kid back to the artifact and resurect his child that you killed for your own. All while your resurected kid is turning into a mutant from the resurection on LIVE TV!
Truly, restored my faith in indie devs. Never before have I seen so much love put into a game, the developers have provided a horrifying, mysterious, thought provoking and incredible adventure. Well done Endnight, and good vid fooster, as always!
I thought they'd give it a lazy ending, or once they said they wouldn't that it wouldn't live up to the hype. I'm still processing it, but it's good. They've done it justice
BelleM0rte You can tell, that by the simple shake of his head when Timmy starts to turn, that he knew. He knew it would happen eventually and I think Timmy knew it too, and that the memories of the Forest may have triggered it.
The "red cannibal" was Megan's dad (Let's call him Red!) and he wanted to revive his daughter. So he tried artifact A, but you needed a live person. So he used artifact B to bring down a plane for a live person. He took Timmy, used him, but Megan (Red's daughter) was sorta mutated and murdered Red. So you find Timmy dead and try to use Artifact A to revive him. But you need a live person. So you make a plane crash to get a live person using Artifact B and in the end you're covered in red paint... Doesn't that paint make you look like some red cannibal when you try to steal a live person from the plane?
so it was the circle. Red Cannibal took Timmy to resurrect Megan and you shot down another plane to get someone alive to resurrect Timmy. You were also a Red Cannibal to the new survivors from the plane you shot down... amazing
So... Matthew Cross was the red guy... and Megan died somehow so Matthew used Artifact 1 to Revive her. But it needs a live sample to use. so what Matthew did was use Artifact 2 to shoot down the plane and they found Timmy, so they used Timmy to revive Megan, but the machine after a while makes it so the person becomes one of the cannibals, so she was revived and I guess a lot of there workers were cloned and were soon transforming into cannibals, but Megan was safe inside the room you find her in, and she is only just near transforming, so you have to kill her, after you kill the cannibal she turns into then her body drops from it and you try to use it to revive Timmy, but it after says on the screens "LIVE SAMPLE REQUIRED" so you get a key card and use it to go to Artifact 2. Artifact 2 can shoot planes down, you realize, then you go and shoot down the plane and I assume you get another body from the plane and then bring it back to revive Timmy. Then he gets revived and you leave that place and go to a place where Timmy starts twitching, you then use your axe in a contest to see who can cut down the wood first, but everyone stops as Timmy starts falling on the ground and going up and down.. The player can see that he is transforming. It ends there but that means whenever someone uses the revive machine they will soon become a cannibal and the whole island is filled with what we call "cannibals" and they were all just revived a long time ago seeming that the character has been on the island for a long time and also Megan was just transforming so that means it has at least been a year since Timmy has been taken, That means for that many cannibals to be on the island this must of happened recently, but what happened to all the people that they revived, because the island is full of cloned cannibals and after about a year they transform into cannibals.
basically, every person there is a cannibal, so in short words, everyone just had to survive in the slang they were on, and try to find a way to escape the place, but the player must find timmy and then get out the island
Soon as i saw the plane radar i realized. The red cannibal is the same as u. He got to here he shot ur plane down to get timmy to save HIS daughter. And now u gotta do the same.. HOLY SHIT!!!!
The red guy is Matthew Cross, Megan Cross's father. He was a scientist that worked at Sahara and that paper the player picks up explains that he was fired for inappropriate use of company equipment. I am assuming he has been using the red paint to get by the cannibals and survive.
I suppose my current theory is that similarly to everybody else, the Red Cannibal was the father of Megan who died during the experimentation. Distraught and additionally being fired (I think) he took revenge by most probably killing everyone in the facility by feeding them the drugs they were experimenting with, in the process, I think they became the cannibals that populated the island. He realised that in order to bring back his daughter he would need a live specimen, one that wasn't affected by the whatever drugs they were making. Using the second artefact, he brought down your plane and took Timmy to bring back his daughter. Bringing his daughter back he is shortly killed later on by his daughter who has now changed into a monster. Theory about the artefact here is that, the scientists used that specific artefact to develop extended mortality or some form of immortality, but the artefact itself is corrupt and thus changes the human himself/herself making them into monstrous things, I'm still unsure as to how the artefact affects humans but I'm hoping we get a better explanation at some point. Back to the story, Your character wants to bring Timmy back after finding out that he was used to bring Megan back, he finds out that he needs a live specimen and uses the second artefact to bring down another plane and take whatever survivor there was and use them to bring back his son (not cool bro). In my mind before that end sequence, I would have thought it'd be a never ending cycle, we become the red cannibal and the next survivor in search of their son or daughter or whatever other person will come in and the process goes on. But instead the now corrupted Timmy is released upon the world (I'm just going to call them corrupted because it sounds really close to what they are supposed to be).

I'm pretty sure that circle pillar area might actually be where the laser from the artifact gets powered up before it's fired at the planes. All the people around the circle must have been scientist that got caught up in that spot when Matthew Cross decided to activate the artifact on the plane, probable charring and burning the bodies of the scientist that stood there at that moment.
I feel like the story of it was that the red cannibal was the doctor and he took Timmy to resurrect his daughter then it caused her to become that monster and that's what happened to Timmy at the end
Dude the red cannibal is YOU! Or was someone like you, see megan was the last survivors daughter, that boss creature that was the little girl you found, and she was in timmy's place, the red cannibal brought down your plane to capture timmy to bring megan back
Dan Luckins I thought the exact same thing and how you bring the plane down and take the little kid from that crash and you leave the parent alive and use the kid to bring Timmy back and then said parent finds said kid in artifact then goes and finds Timmy where Megan was and tries to use him and fails because he is dead and then goes and finds the mountain place and shoots down another plane and repeats the cycle.

I know I’m 4 years late, and I’ve intentionally avoided anything that could spoil it since this is where I first even heard of “The Forest”… but I was honestly thinking when you shot down the plane, it would turn out you were sent back in time and that YOU were the Red Man who took Timmy from the plane… and would take him back and use him, the “live subject”, to bring back the dead Timmy… knowing, ultimately, the past you left on the plane would do what you’ve done to bring Timmy in the present back to life… a time loop… and after escaping, it would turn out Timmy was given the mutation when resurrected and would unleash the horror on the mainland as a result… looks like I was off about the time travel / you turning out to be the Red Cannibal… or was I? Who is to say that 747 wasn’t your own plane… and activating the device did cause the time loop? Just wasn’t depicted on camera? The plane crashing being what caused the lab’s downfall? Who knows… (probably everyone else, as I’ve avoided spoilers, somehow successfully so far)?
the story cycles on and on . the red cannibal detects the plane and shoots it down . he takes your son as the live sample for reviving his daughter . your son dies in the artifact and the side effect of the artifact mutates the red cannibals daughter . the daughter kills her dad and on and on . in this story you are the red cannibal for another person and if you do revive your son well he becomes into a tree monster so here is the game in a nutshell .

also the red cannibal is actually dr.cross the head of the research project who is the father of megan cross. this confirmed in one of megan's drawings showing a red monster with the word "daddy" written on it
ye so like when you activate the next plane to come down i assume in the 1 year transition what happens is you become the next so called " red cannibal " and steal another live sample to get timmy back alive just as dr. cross did with megan using timmy's body.
My theory: Your plane was crashed because the red cannibal needed to revive his daughter: Megan, which he couldn't do because he needed a live sample. Then you go after him to get Timmy back, but he's been killed in the revival of Megan (she then later mutates). So you need to revive him, which means you also need a live sample. So you crash another plane (notice that you are now dressed like the red cannibal) and go get a child from the new plane crash to revive Timmy (he also then later mutates). And the cycle repeats and repeats until someone just lets go of their child and doesn't kill someone else's son/daughter to revive them.
here's my theory you and the red cannibal are the exactly the same because he probably brought down your plane to save Megan than you did the exact same thing to Save Timmy
But the red cannibal isn't cannibal but Matthew, person leading these experiments. His daughter Megan died and Matthew went crazy trying to save her. Apparently mutant's were failed tries to bring person back alive and seemingly was caused by being sibling of deceased. This is something i'm uncertain of anyway. Matthew also conditioned cannibals to treat red person as a god, explaining red paint. Cannibals have always been there and mutant's were experimented cannibals. Matthew knew that to bring Megan alive he needed to use alive person of approximately same size but after Megan was brought back she pretty much immediately changed and killed 'red cannibal' and went on to that big room. Those red foot prints were hers. Timmy most likely didn't mutate as soon since he were dead for much shorter time. Megans skin showed some sings of being dead for some time. It was kind of grey and that's why i think she mutated as fast as she did and after mutation she went kinda crazy but still returning to human form. That would explain why did she have blood on her mouth and hands and feet.

Might be possible to keep him stable if you kept getting samples. Like a body that looses a drug and drops a high. So you might need a person after so often to maintain stability.
i think what happens is when you took the plane down near the end you go and scout the wreckage for survivors and maybe steal a kid from the plane, then when you take that kid back the artifact makes Timmy come back to life but as a one of those "things" sort of like when you got brung down and that cannibal took Timmy and the cycle restarts

its a repeating circle... the "red man" is a survivor from the previous plane and very probably mr.cross, the girls father. he went trough the same, found the laboratory, found his daughter dead, and he found out that he needs a living beeing to reanimate his daughter. he finds his way to the mountaintop where he activates the mashine. the aftermath of this is your plane crashing. he goes to the wreck and abducts timmy to review his daughter. thats why timmy was in the mashine and the girl alive. althou it seems that the artifact has a side effect, namely infecting the body with an unknown mutagen. (witch the scientist where probably studing). the girl very probably killed the red man (her father) after she was revived. fast forwardt to you hitting the button to crash the plane. you abduct a surviving child to bring timmy back to life. how they escaped the island in the end, i dont know, but as they are in the talkshow, the sideefects of timmys reanimation start to show... (sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language) TL;DR: the red man is a survivor from a previous plane crash that went trough the same as you and wanted to safe his daughter. you crash another plane, abduct a surviving child and reanimate timmy. afterwards you escape the island. the reanimatiom has a sidefect that shows in the girl and also timmy at the end.
I've been with this game since the beginning (ahh, the many glitches of early alpha) and it's so amazing to see it finally get an end! So I think that they were taking children from plane crashes and trying to perfect the Artifact. The first batch of kids were the most mutated but they eventually were able to not make the experiments too mutated (the cannibals??). They eventually got the Artifact to not mutate kids. They hooked up Megan into the machine and thought they had brought her back to life without being mutated. After awhile they found out that Megan was really mutated on the inside all along which was why nobody knew until she attacked.
like the samurai sword, you gotta go out and find the axe, i havent played since it was out for a year, but last i remember, there were about 5ish axes
Nope, that's how the story should've been, being "red" it's just part of the story, as the "cannibal" (it's not a cannibal, but Megan's father) did the exact things that we've seen thanks to Fooster, it's just a cycle

131 episodes. I've been watching since the first episode was uploaded. This was literally an amazing experience. The ending was just phenomenal, it was perfect. They did such an amazing job on this game. Brother, I just want to say this series was perfect. Keep up the great work!

The Forest is by far my favorite game! I created a 'real life' forest video as part of a series that I would love fans of the game to see! I can't believe I finally finished the Forest, I've played this since a week after it's release and the devs just keep getting more caring towards the community
I know the whole story. the red cannibal wanted to bring Megan back to life so he used Timmy then when you use the thing to take down the plane you take a survivor and save Timmy. but you can only use kids to heal kids

Sad to say but I and 2 mates did it last night and it's just the same but one person gets to do the interactive cutscenes such as the one where Timmy is taken out of the Artifact and the others are left watching unless they trigger the cutscene at the same time, but in the final scene everybody is at the same point.
I have to say that I did not know you before but this video was in my recommendations and I regret that I didn't know your channel earlier. This video is as epic as your commenting style is! I love the end of the story and the way you were playing it, your voice is perfect for that. I'm also playing The Forest and I'm kinda confused about the end but I think it makes sense because actually you were the red cannibal who's the one being guilty for the crash of the plane to get a living subject for Timmy. So all I have to say is keep going on with those epic videos! (:
so summing up, the red cannibal did the exact same as you did. Took your son to revive his daughter, as you did. although she mutated and killed him. Then you had to kill her, but the machine required a live person to work. You do the same thing as the red cannibal, find the device that bring the planes down and use it, capture a human that survived the crash and put it in the machine to revive your son. But the difference is that you actually manage to leave the island before your son mutates. All in all this is a very interesting story really, I think it was pretty amazing and mind blowing at the same time. But I can't help but ask for more :P

They would take paying parents and say " we can bring your dead child back to life for money " and what parent would not do that so they were making money and people were getting their kids back... for a year only.
The first artifact they found was the pyramid shaped thing which sacrifices a living person to bring somone back and the second one brings down a plane. So the Scientists or the resurrection group had the kids and the artifacts to bring people back to life but no people to use for sacrifice. This is where the second artifact comes in handy. The second artifact was used to bring down planes and crash them down so the resurrection group could take any survivors and use them to bring kids back to life for a LOT of cash from paying parents.
All was going well until later the kids would seiz and turn into a mutant, so the scientists asked for ALL of the kids back for "observation" and were put into rooms to keep them away from the real world. All went to hell as you see most of the observation rooms were broken open and blood is everywhere (probably the original scientist) And the Mutated kids were roaming free on this island and very angry ( you kill armsy a 6 year old mutated kid ).
So I think that mathew cross (megans father) is a scientist for sahara therapeutics and he worked with the resurrection artifact that they had found in the cave and they had built a lab around the artifact to make money off of bringing peoples children back to life.
Somehow Megan cross was dead and mathew cross's main research on the resurection artifact was to bring his daughter back from the dead and he also had her body. Obviously he could not do this alone and had to have a team/company to help him build the lab and work on the children. I think they made money from all of the survivors from your plane crash ( the first crash ) by using them to bring back the children and also to bring back the head scientists daughter Megan. So mathew had crashed your plane and took timmy while wearing blood on his body so he could use timmy to bring back megan from the dead.
shortly after megan was brought back to life all of the other resurected children started mutating. I think it took longer for others to mutate ( megan, timmy ) because they were given a lower "dose" as you can read on a post note that they are given a certain dose of something to bring them to life. So megan was alive and well while all of the others were mutating. I think the first stage of the mutation is just a normal slimey mutant as you fight them through out the game ( they will later turn into monster freaks ) because when you first find megan she is covered in slime like the mutants but she has not turned into a big monster yet. so the other kids were in the observation rooms and they were mutants but not monsters and the scientists knew something was wrong. The kids that were given a higher dose were the ones that turned into the monsters first and broke out of their rooms only to kill most of the scientists, somehow mathew and megan survived this.
shortly after that, megan had killed her father with pencils ( as you see in the lab ) and she was about to turn into monster like the rest. So she walked to a big room with her fathers blood on her feet and sat on the floor, colored, and played with a toy plane. this is when you come around to try and find a sacrifice for your child.
Now at this point you have already found the lab and found dead timmy in the artifact and need to find a sacrifice for the machine to bring timmy back to life ( not knowing the sacrifice needs to be alive) You find megan and she turns into a tree mutant thing ( about a year after her resurrection) you kill megan for the second time and she is brought back to the artifact and you find out you need a live sacrifice to bring your son back.
Megan drops a keycard ( probably got it from her dad the scientist ) and you go onto the next room to find the second artifact. You see the radar and press the activate button and see a yellow colored plane crash into the forest ( our plane was blue that is how i know you do not see your own plane crash de-bunking the theory that you are the red guy that picked up timmy in the beggining ). The cutscene starts with " 1 year later".
Now when the plane crashed my theory is that you went down to the yellow plane and found a live sacrifice ( someones son/daughter) to bring timmy back to life, brought the child back to the artifact and brought timmy back to life ( not knowing timmy would ever turn ). Now back to the cutscene, Your book is called "rescued" which means you were rescued from the island either by a searchteam or a passing boat less than a year later with your son timmy. I know you got off the island less than a year after timmys resurection because he had to have time to write a book.
So timmy is twitching out and acting weird but you proceed and talk to the man hosting the show. After about 20 seconds it goes scilent and the curtans open in the back to show two standing trees, The host probably wants to chop wood with you like you did in your survival. You are thinking " well sh*t i do not want to do this ever again that was the worst thing of my life ". You look at the crowd, and look back at the host and nodd your head yes. You proceed to chop the invincible wood with the host and hear the worst noise of your life. The host drops his axe in fear while you stare at your own only to think you will have to kill your own son because he is about to turn into a crazy mutant just like you saw megan. And that is when the cutscene ends.
Now all of the children that were resurected turned into different monster/mutants. There was virginia who turned into a 6 legged creature with multiple sex orgins as seen on the projector and found dead in the lab. There was a 6 year old kid who turned into armsy who you killed not to far past the dead virginia mutation body. There was a really really REALLY big mutated kid found in observation room H right after you kill armsy who inflated to the entire room. And then there was megan who turned into that tree monter thing which we saw go down. There is no telling what timmy turned into as we did not see but it couldnt have been anything like the others because they were all so different there is no way to tell but whatever he turned into, it went down on live TV and either you killed you mutated son or it killed you and everyone in there.
This has been one of the most plot twisting and most crazy storys/endings in a video game that i have ever seen and this game diserves IGN 10/10 lmao, seriously these devs are so crazy for this i do not know how they came up with any of this stuff and peiced it together so well but we as a community need to figure out what the hell went down on this mysterious island.
sometime within the year of timmys resurected life i think there was a father/mother that survived the yellow plane that you took down and he probably already found his kid in the artifact where you left him dead to bring back your son, so he is going to bring down another plane and get a child from the crash and take that kid back to the artifact and resurect his child that you killed for your own. All while your resurected kid is turning into a mutant from the resurection on LIVE TV!

The "red cannibal" was Megan's dad (Let's call him Red!) and he wanted to revive his daughter. So he tried artifact A, but you needed a live person. So he used artifact B to bring down a plane for a live person. He took Timmy, used him, but Megan (Red's daughter) was sorta mutated and murdered Red. So you find Timmy dead and try to use Artifact A to revive him. But you need a live person. So you make a plane crash to get a live person using Artifact B and in the end you're covered in red paint...

So... Matthew Cross was the red guy... and Megan died somehow so Matthew used Artifact 1 to Revive her. But it needs a live sample to use. so what Matthew did was use Artifact 2 to shoot down the plane and they found Timmy, so they used Timmy to revive Megan, but the machine after a while makes it so the person becomes one of the cannibals, so she was revived and I guess a lot of there workers were cloned and were soon transforming into cannibals, but Megan was safe inside the room you find her in, and she is only just near transforming, so you have to kill her, after you kill the cannibal she turns into then her body drops from it and you try to use it to revive Timmy, but it after says on the screens "LIVE SAMPLE REQUIRED" so you get a key card and use it to go to Artifact 2. Artifact 2 can shoot planes down, you realize, then you go and shoot down the plane and I assume you get another body from the plane and then bring it back to revive Timmy. Then he gets revived and you leave that place and go to a place where Timmy starts twitching, you then use your axe in a contest to see who can cut down the wood first, but everyone stops as Timmy starts falling on the ground and going up and down.. The player can see that he is transforming. It ends there but that means whenever someone uses the revive machine they will soon become a cannibal and the whole island is filled with what we call "cannibals" and they were all just revived a long time ago seeming that the character has been on the island for a long time and also Megan was just transforming so that means it has at least been a year since Timmy has been taken, That means for that many cannibals to be on the island this must of happened recently, but what happened to all the people that they revived, because the island is full of cloned cannibals and after about a year they transform into cannibals.

The red guy is Matthew Cross, Megan Cross's father. He was a scientist that worked at Sahara and that paper the player picks up explains that he was fired for inappropriate use of company equipment. I am assuming he has been using the red paint to get by the cannibals and survive.

I suppose my current theory is that similarly to everybody else, the Red Cannibal was the father of Megan who died during the experimentation. Distraught and additionally being fired (I think) he took revenge by most probably killing everyone in the facility by feeding them the drugs they were experimenting with, in the process, I think they became the cannibals that populated the island. He realised that in order to bring back his daughter he would need a live specimen, one that wasn't affected by the whatever drugs they were making.
Using the second artefact, he brought down your plane and took Timmy to bring back his daughter.
Bringing his daughter back he is shortly killed later on by his daughter who has now changed into a monster. Theory about the artefact here is that, the scientists used that specific artefact to develop extended mortality or some form of immortality, but the artefact itself is corrupt and thus changes the human himself/herself making them into monstrous things, I'm still unsure as to how the artefact affects humans but I'm hoping we get a better explanation at some point.
Back to the story, Your character wants to bring Timmy back after finding out that he was used to bring Megan back, he finds out that he needs a live specimen and uses the second artefact to bring down another plane and take whatever survivor there was and use them to bring back his son (not cool bro).
In my mind before that end sequence, I would have thought it'd be a never ending cycle, we become the red cannibal and the next survivor in search of their son or daughter or whatever other person will come in and the process goes on. But instead the now corrupted Timmy is released upon the world (I'm just going to call them corrupted because it sounds really close to what they are supposed to be).

I'm pretty sure that circle pillar area might actually be where the laser from the artifact gets powered up before it's fired at the planes. All the people around the circle must have been scientist that got caught up in that spot when Matthew Cross decided to activate the artifact on the plane, probable charring and burning the bodies of the scientist that stood there at that moment.

I know I’m 4 years late, and I’ve intentionally avoided anything that could spoil it since this is where I first even heard of “The Forest”… but I was honestly thinking when you shot down the plane, it would turn out you were sent back in time and that YOU were the Red Man who took Timmy from the plane… and would take him back and use him, the “live subject”, to bring back the dead Timmy… knowing, ultimately, the past you left on the plane would do what you’ve done to bring Timmy in the present back to life… a time loop… and after escaping, it would turn out Timmy was given the mutation when resurrected and would unleash the horror on the mainland as a result… looks like I was off about the time travel / you turning out to be the Red Cannibal… or was I? Who is to say that 747 wasn’t your own plane… and activating the device did cause the time loop? Just wasn’t depicted on camera? The plane crashing being what caused the lab’s downfall? Who knows… (probably everyone else, as I’ve avoided spoilers, somehow successfully so far)?

My theory:
Your plane was crashed because the red cannibal needed to revive his daughter: Megan, which he couldn't do because he needed a live sample. Then you go after him to get Timmy back, but he's been killed in the revival of Megan (she then later mutates). So you need to revive him, which means you also need a live sample. So you crash another plane (notice that you are now dressed like the red cannibal) and go get a child from the new plane crash to revive Timmy (he also then later mutates). And the cycle repeats and repeats until someone just lets go of their child and doesn't kill someone else's son/daughter to revive them.

Ohh shit so when you crash the plane you do the same thing that the red "cannibal" does to you, so you can save your son!! damn!!
Yeah the red cannibal was trying to save his daughter Megan and now you're fulfilling that role to save timmy
But the red cannibal isn't cannibal but Matthew, person leading these experiments. His daughter Megan died and Matthew went crazy trying to save her. Apparently mutant's were failed tries to bring person back alive and seemingly was caused by being sibling of deceased. This is something i'm uncertain of anyway. Matthew also conditioned cannibals to treat red person as a god, explaining red paint. Cannibals have always been there and mutant's were experimented cannibals. Matthew knew that to bring Megan alive he needed to use alive person of approximately same size but after Megan was brought back she pretty much immediately changed and killed 'red cannibal' and went on to that big room. Those red foot prints were hers. Timmy most likely didn't mutate as soon since he were dead for much shorter time. Megans skin showed some sings of being dead for some time. It was kind of grey and that's why i think she mutated as fast as she did and after mutation she went kinda crazy but still returning to human form. That would explain why did she have blood on her mouth and hands and feet.

i think what happens is when you took the plane down near the end you go and scout the wreckage for survivors and maybe steal a kid from the plane, then when you take that kid back the artifact makes Timmy come back to life but as a one of those "things"

How did you not figure it out? You brought down that second plane, took someone's child, and brought Timmy back to life. Just like Megan's father (the red cannibal) did to take Timmy to bring Megan back. Tadaa. As soon as I saw you covered in the red paint in the beginning, the whole story was there.
The red man must’ve been a father just like your character trying to save his daughter. The story to this game is amazing. 👏🏽 honestly round of applause.

its a repeating circle...
the "red man" is a survivor from the previous plane and very probably mr.cross, the girls father. he went trough the same, found the laboratory, found his daughter dead, and he found out that he needs a living beeing to reanimate his daughter.
he finds his way to the mountaintop where he activates the mashine. the aftermath of this is your plane crashing. he goes to the wreck and abducts timmy to review his daughter. thats why timmy was in the mashine and the girl alive.
althou it seems that the artifact has a side effect, namely infecting the body with an unknown mutagen. (witch the scientist where probably studing). the girl very probably killed the red man (her father) after she was revived.
fast forwardt to you hitting the button to crash the plane. you abduct a surviving child to bring timmy back to life.
how they escaped the island in the end, i dont know, but as they are in the talkshow, the sideefects of timmys reanimation start to show...

TL;DR: the red man is a survivor from a previous plane crash that went trough the same as you and wanted to safe his daughter. you crash another plane, abduct a surviving child and reanimate timmy. afterwards you escape the island. the reanimatiom has a sidefect that shows in the girl and also timmy at the end.

I've been with this game since the beginning (ahh, the many glitches of early alpha) and it's so amazing to see it finally get an end!
So I think that they were taking children from plane crashes and trying to perfect the Artifact. The first batch of kids were the most mutated but they eventually were able to not make the experiments too mutated (the cannibals??). They eventually got the Artifact to not mutate kids. They hooked up Megan into the machine and thought they had brought her back to life without being mutated. After awhile they found out that Megan was really mutated on the inside all along which was why nobody knew until she attacked.

Nope, that's how the story should've been, being "red" it's just part of the story, as the "cannibal" (it's not a cannibal, but Megan's father) did the exact things that we've seen thanks to Fooster, it's just a cycle
I think Megan screamed when she saw on is because she thinks your her dad because you have red paint on and a picture tells us that he is not nice to her at all 😶

131 episodes. I've been watching since the first episode was uploaded. This was literally an amazing experience. The ending was just phenomenal, it was perfect. They did such an amazing job on this game. Brother, I just want to say this series was perfect. Keep up the great work!
I get this,the previous red canibal was like you and brought his daughter megan back to life using your son timi so you are doing the same thing and are crashing a plane to steal a child to sacrifice him/her to bring your son back to life - its an endless loop of killing and giving life

Sad to say but I and 2 mates did it last night and it's just the same but one person gets to do the interactive cutscenes such as the one where Timmy is taken out of the Artifact and the others are left watching unless they trigger the cutscene at the same time, but in the final scene everybody is at the same point.
I have to say that I did not know you before but this video was in my recommendations and I regret that I didn't know your channel earlier. This video is as epic as your commenting style is! I love the end of the story and the way you were playing it, your voice is perfect for that. I'm also playing The Forest and I'm kinda confused about the end but I think it makes sense because actually you were the red cannibal who's the one being guilty for the crash of the plane to get a living subject for Timmy. So all I have to say is keep going on with those epic videos! (:

so summing up, the red cannibal did the exact same as you did. Took your son to revive his daughter, as you did. although she mutated and killed him. Then you had to kill her, but the machine required a live person to work. You do the same thing as the red cannibal, find the device that bring the planes down and use it, capture a human that survived the crash and put it in the machine to revive your son. But the difference is that you actually manage to leave the island before your son mutates.
All in all this is a very interesting story really, I think it was pretty amazing and mind blowing at the same time. But I can't help but ask for more :P
