      @@Tschacki_Quacki That's a load of bollocks and you know it.
      The EQA comes optioned with a full panoramic sunroof. There isn't a single EV they make that doesn't come with it as an option or as standard, and they all, get this; They all Open up...crazy, I know.
      Everyone's tryna be lazy like Tesla, and just plonks a pano without a shade in their cars, which is silly and even less practical for EVs. A few others in both their EVs & ICE, give you a pano with a shade, but the pano can't be opened, just the shade. Mercedes just does the standard logical thing. And many of their panos open pretty wide too.
      Electrochromic Roofs are best intended for cars like sporty cars and up that just can't fit a classic sunshade, which is part of why Mercedes discontinued it after the W222 as it's redundancy with the sunshade made no sense considering it's cost. Main thing is, *if you don't have a sunshade, have an electrochromic roof.* If you can't be bothered to add that, then stick to the classic sunshade. There's no reason outside "style" and dubious cost-cutting, that's led us to this era of full glass panos without electrochromism instead of just sticking to a classic sunshade design.

    I have the EQS 580, just took a road trip with my wife to visit our grandson and daughter of course from Phoenix to Charlotte North Carolina. Mileage was not as good as the 450, but then again I was averaging 80 mph and running full AC. The 580 comfortably gave me about 200 miles with 50 to 80 miles left. I took it from 100% charge to about 20 or 25%. I might say that the trip cost $0.00 in charging as Mercedes has on top of the 2 years free (30 minute) charging, between May and October 2023 they are allowing free charging unlimited. As such charging from 20% to 90% or 100% took about 40 minutes on average but it was free. The trip was fabulous as we traveled through 10 states. The 580 was smooth and very comfortable, set it on cruise and it drives itself, there is a 30 second alert that beeps until you put your hands back on the steering wheel but it still offer relief from driving long distances. Nerd tip, Mercedes is using the "+" sign in the model name to indicate the range maximizing model variant within the lineup. Not sure if they do so in the US, but at least in Europe, Mercedes is selling FWD/RWD and AWD variants, so the single motor variant with the big battery is mostly getting the "+". Kyle, food for thought. You actually went 385 miles. The speedo is off by .0285 percent. Ex) speedo show 68 when going 70 mph. The odometer is calculating at 68 mph vs 70 mph. So for each 70 miles you go you are showing 68 miles. 375 x 1.0285= 385 :-)

    • @doggytreats1122
      @doggytreats1122 Рік тому +2

      The speedo shows speed not distance. So, the velocity travelled does not infer anything about distance. However, each tire has a circumference and that multiplied by pi gives a distance per each tire rotation. Tires that are over or undersized compared to that expected by the vehicle will provide an inaccurate distance. So unless the actual circumference is known, the distance calculated will always be incorrect if not a standard manufacturers size (unless it is possible to adjust that within the car's system settings). I've never seen this on my ID4 menu but I remain on the standard 19" wheels and standard rubber. So Kyle, that's food for thought too.

    • @robbystewart8088

      @@robbystewart8088 No, the odometer uses tire rotation. I did make an error before though. I should have stated that Tire diameter multiplied by pi is the circumference. So one rotation of the tire gives a certain distance. Using the speedo could work if only if you had an accurate average speed and you know the total trip time. Distance = Velocity x Time

    • @robbystewart8088
      @robbystewart8088 Рік тому +1

      @@doggytreats1122 the odometer and the speedometer utilize the input feed/reading from the calculation on tire rotations. It would actually be illegal for them to be different, considered odometer fraud.

    • @doggytreats1122
      @doggytreats1122 Рік тому

      @@robbystewart8088 Good that you agree that tire rotation needs to be known and therefore tire circumference matters. That info goes to the odometer to show distance. Meanwhile, the rate at which the tires turn e.g. so many revolutions per second is sent to the speedometer and that shows speed. Odometer (diistance) = Speedometer (velocity) x length of time driven. So now if you imagine that size of the tire was like a hot wheels car, the speed reading at '70'' (tires turning wildly) would actually be a walking pace and the distance would be reported as enormous for just driving around one block.

    Kyle, tell the car industry. Put a lable near each cars charger port that reminds the ev owner there maximum charging rate. So they don't waste the 350kw when the 100kw charge station would be plenty.. to charge a Bolt EV's 55kw battery.
    Say don't be a charger hog..... Like the old leaded or unleaded lable on the gas car.... fill cap area.

    • @Wised1000
      @Wised1000 Рік тому +1

      IMO, the 450 AWD is the "goldilocks" model. A lot more torque, a little faster, and probably, a very small range penalty. Plus, all season traction and even very good offroad capability to boot! Finally, a much smaller price differential. However, if you are going to option a lot, the 580 might make more sense in the end. However, I have to disagree on the hyperscreen, I like it much better than the tablet screen. It might be functionally unnecessary, but it looks a lot better and is super slick to operate. In a sense, the dash looks cheapened without it. Even my wife, who is a ludite, now likes the fact that she can co-pilot with it after initially raging about it!

If I put in some effort and use ECO mode, maybe I could exceed 475 mi. Beauty is in eye of beholder, and I don’t think eggs shape is ugly, but good for drag coefficient. Could turning radius of this very long EV beat a model 3? For fun, think I’ll challenge one.
