The facepaint thing wasn't a "disguise". He was forced to wear that facepaint (which is the Chinese equivalent of a clown makeup) so he could be allowed to fight, and got his ring name changed to something humiliating. And he still went and kicked ass.
The fact that the government forced him to wear clown paint while he fought, only to have their "masters" beaten by him is just so poetic. They were literally getting clowned on.

Even if it means losing it all to defend his honor ✊🏽
His story is literally the Saturday kung-fu movies I used to watch when I was a kid in the 80's of an orphaned stranger who learned from his murdered dad and goes to challenge 1 or more of the powerful kung-fu schools that holds all the power in town and winning.
Most mystcal zen warrior stuff I've seen was more about floating about on wires and firing hadoukens, don't recall any being about fake martial artist exposure, any examples of this?
This was Xu against the "MASTERS", but I didn't see any "MASTERS".😂😂😂 I saw only comedians shacking & making weird moves. Damn did I enjoy this video. Pls, send us more.
Last thing I heard about Xu is he went abroad to fight a legitimate thai fighter, to test himself and prove that he wasn't only winning because he was fighting old men. It was clearly a tough battle for him, but he did win.
Even if he was the worst fighter in the world of MMA throughout history that would reflect even worse on the so called masters that he wiped the floor with.
His original point was that he's nothing special - a retired, middle-aged, not particularly physically impressive fighter, who is still far too much for these fake masters.
He fought young kungfu fighters as well. It wasn't about the age, it's about their traditional styles and beliefs about fighting. Most of them fought like they'd never been hit in the face and panicked
Xu needs to get into one fc and move to singapore or philippines permanently. Northern part of the philippines are home to wrestling fanatics despite wushu being a dominant martial arts in their northern island a lot of wushu practitioners do admit that its more akin to dance routine than real martial arts and prefer to fight with greecko roman style of wrestling. Xu with his body type can be a good wrestler. The lakay gym would definitely take interest in him. That gym at one point in time basically dominated every mma division in asia having produce champions in every division. And with xu's background with striking he could help the gym with his experience as well. In singapore i would reccommend the Lee gym but with the current situation they are in idk if they are still in operation.
China likes to whine about their supposed "Century of Humiliation" but it looks like Xu is one of the few people in the country who learned the correct lesson from that period: the rest of the *can* do some things better than China and it's useful to learn from them.
I would like to make something clear about Xu Xiaodong. He specifically calls out Tai Chi "masters" as opposed to all Chinese Kung Fu. A little over a year ago a teacher ("master") of Iron Fist uploaded a video of himself to China's version of UA-cam, when he was drunk claiming that Xu has said things against Iron fist, to which Xu made a calm response video stating that he never said anything against Iron Fist and that his goal was to call out fakes in the Tai Chi community. He also said that if he had ever said anything against Iron fist, to show him and he would apologize. A few days later the Iron Fist practitioner made another video, sober this time, apologizing for what he had said. The reason he targets Tai Chi practitioners is because they rarely even spar with each other, let alone actually against other styles, but they make a lot of bold claims and fake videos like the one you showed. I've been living in China for almost a full decade at this point and watching it unfold has been very interesting.
Entire world knows China Kung fu is worthless and useless and only works in IP MAN movies. Stop lying. Xu challenged all fake so called masters of Chinese Kung fu and embarrassed all of them. I saw all of Xu s videos.
@@Initium1000 How do you know they are legit? Not even the so called Tai Chi masters are legitamtely trained to fight in their style. It never was about style vs style from what I have observed. It was about fighter against frauds claiming to be fighters. Qi La La is a Practioner of Wing Chun and Xing Yi, which are two Kung Fu styles and he is actually a legit fighter who stands his ground.
Anyone else think a fighter based on Xu in Street Fighter would be amazing? Like the whole backstory is there! Exiled from his country for exposing fake fighters and being forced to wear "clown" face paint which is now known as a warriors face!
He’d be awful if he’s the real one. At least Dan can fight. This guy has been photographed refusing fights with people while still broadcasting “I fight anyone” on social media. A good villain character maybe but we already have plenty of iconic villains like Bison or arguably Akuma.
@@CylenX6 Sadly, he's been refusing lots of Dan fighters. No Sanda fighter should ever need to but records show the majority of fights he gets into are heavily slanted towards him in weight class and he borderline screens people he fights. A number of people confronted him on separate occasions, only for him to refuse them on the grounds that "they are legitimate" but by failing to give them a showing nor publicly reveal he did this without a fight, it means he only gives them lip service and never recognition.

No he is teaching people that he believes online social abuse and humiliation are a good thing and getting a very blunt answer from China as you would expect. You wont find many CHinese people who agree with what he is doing simply because they dont believe in getting fame from the humiliation of others, If he believed these people were guilty of something he should have gone about it the right way, humiliating people on social media is never going to go down well in a culture based on respect. As for being fined ect, you would be fined just for going online and calling a restaurant garbage and awful if you worded it wrong, and rightly so if they complained because its not the way to do things. You can complain about your experience in honest terms, but slandering others and making broad statements on your opinions to damage others, nope, not in China.

Dude’s basically fighting guys who claim to have powers like you’d see in one of these stories while not having or claiming any of these powers himself.
Most Chinese martial arts tend to involve either waiting for your target to cross the road on a pedestrian crossing and then running them over using the ancient traditional oriental weapon that is the automobile. Practitioners may also summon several acolytes wielding baseball bats via cellular phones.
So he went around China KOing a bunch of Kung Fu masters who wouldn't stop talking shit to him all "my style better than your style", he has basically the best Kung Fu story since the Panda.
As someone who practices real tai chi, these "master" are an embarrassment to the craft, these frauds just damage the actual value of chinese internal arts. The master of our school is a decent fighter who goes into the ring with professional muay thai fighters, but clearly says that he is not focusing on fighting and that anyone committed to actual fighting training would easily beat him. At the same time, many of the techniques and methods taught in the internal arts are applicable in actual fights, but they can only complement a strong foundation of basic fighting skills. Someone without the physical conditioning will never be able to compensate that with some complementary techniques from the internal arts. These old masters dont have a fighting physique, they should not be surprised they get beaten up by a properly trained fighter almost doubling their weight. None of them had a reasonable stance or effective striking technique.. In Xu's position I'd tell these masters that they are disrespecting Chinese culture by misrepresenting it, that would go over much better with the Chinese authorities I guess.
Most people don’t know this, but Bruce Lee pretty much abandoned Wing Chun when he came to America. That’s when he incorporated boxing, wrestling, jujitsu, and other useful martial arts into his arts; he called it Jeet Kune Do which translate to A STYLE WITHOUT A STYLE. Essentially it really means Mix Martial Arts because all it really is, is combining arts from all other fighting styles that are useful. I just hate how many people think that Bruce Lee is all about Wing Chun because of the Ip Man movies.
My unkle is one of jetkundo fighter, his old now, without this art he die in tratoring axe of the enemy on his back, he manage to stop the man and his axe, but he suffered too much because the axe cut his skull, luckily his still alive and in good health, his age is 70+.... Chaku is his favorite weapon since young... Yeah... Bruz lee art is great...
He didn’t abandon wing chun when he came to America, it was more around after he fought with Wong Jack Man. Some witnesses of that fight went on to say Bruce was chasing him around trying to chain punch him as Wong ran away. If he did abandon Wing Chun upon his arrival he wouldn’t have been chain punching in that fight. Also JKD doesn’t mean style without style it means way of the intercepting fist. The style without style thing is the philosophy of the art not the translation. Sure Bruce went on record saying Kung fu is a classical or fancy mess but yet he still took pragmatic elements about each Kung fu style he learned about whether it be the wing chun he actually learned from Wong Shun Leung (one of Ip’s disciples), some stuff from mantis (which he learned from Fook Yeung) and perhaps choy li fut (which he gave praise to for being one of the few pragmatic Kung fu styles). Another reason I don’t think he completely abandoned WC is because there’s still JKD schools that teach trapping (which of course isn’t exclusive to JKD and WC) and the fact they still use wooden dummies.
Thats cool and all, but thats like talking about a stuntmans martial arts regimen who cares. Bruce had a resounding ZERO real fights, and yet people love to claim he "invented mma" its stupid.

@@kingcrustytut7544for one thing the one inch punch isn’t supposed to be applied in a fight in the compliant demo fashion Bruce was doing it at the Long Beach tournament back then. Honestly if you just want to move around is okay, nobody expects you to actually become a martial artist in one of those schools. Like my parents sent me to one of those schools and for years I simply did pretty normal gym stuff that would end with 20 minutes trying to mimic some moves that looked cool to impress parents, so like when parents come to pick us up we would do round house kicks or cart wheels, but would probably break my back in a real fight. Tai Chi is more or less the same, my grandpa goes everyday to a park just so he can spend time with his pals and they never do anything too tiring, otherwise if someone can’t keep up and leaves the group they would be all sad. Let's not mix up the terms. 😜
@@MsMvsc They had a code of honour, which did involve some brutality, as they were warriors. Medieval knights had a similar code, also with brutality - Chivalry. Honour, as defined at the time, within the parameters of their codes, did not necessarily involve being 'nice'. Because it was based in combat & war. Even Chivalry, originally had nothing to do with women. That was added later, believe it or not to help knights get women. 😁 The idea being that knights' honour and heroics should be attractive to women, rather than being a rich nobleman. While practicing Kuk Sool Woon, a korean martial art that takes inspiration from tribal, military and nobility martial arts from korea and china, my master told me one of his biggest lessons. Martial arts is primarily an art form. He told me also that if he didnt practice that art he would have been a ballet dancer. Let's not be fooled by the assumptions that art is the same as violence because there can be no beauty found in combat. Only carnage.
I disagree. I believe there is beauty in the context of a consensual fight between two people. The contest of physical and mental aptitude between humans, it's a very honest exchange where you can know not only you, but your opponent on a very intimate level.
Well I can go ahead and tell you if that was your mentality or your quote-unquote master's mentality then you have learned an absolutely useless form of martial arts and no it is not for art. Combat is for self-defense and always was and always will be. You don't learn to punch and kick for art and if you do then i guarantee you when a real fight arises you'll be getting your ass kicked. Did Xu's videos teach you anything?
I've always been saying people keep forgetting what the word arts mean in martial arts. If those practitioners treated their arts as something like a competitive form of ballet nobody would have any problems. But when they start bullshiting people that their form of ballet is an effective fighting technique in MMA or even real life street fights, Xu is here to give them a wake up call.

I was in Bujinkan for awhile, thinking “I’d never get away with that in a street fight”. It seemed silly. But, it was good exercise, I had many friends there, and it wasn’t as expensive as others nearby. I began to notice that I moved differently; Smoother, more efficiently. When my buddies would playfully throw hands at me, I new exactly how far away I needed to be to avoid them and then I could swiftly move in and usually get in a quick, whipping backhand to the nuts, or something. It was the movement, distancing, and comfort that I inadvertently learned. I also got comfortable rolling and falling, which is helpful in New England winters, where people hurt themselves trying NOT to fall.
@Quantum Passport having been in a few scrapes, i would rather know what I know than know nothing. There is an aspect of intent as well. The guy who is more intense than the other has a slight edge. A friend of mine used to perform his “mad dog” act and bigger dudes would retreat. Hilarious to witness.
That's a good point. It's generally always helpful to practice SOME kind of martial art over nothing. Hell, as an old full contact medieval weapons fighter, I HATE epee fencing, but would definitely recommend someone with zero martial arts experience to take it. The techniques probably wouldn't help much in any real stick, sword, or unarmed fight, but the training with footwork, tempo, the general attitude and time spent sparring can make a world of difference. And if they already know how to punch, that kind of training can set them up real well to learn to box. There's always benefits to training and practicing body mechanics and the very fundamentals, even if what you're training doesn't amount to an actual martial art. As another example, I learned how to fall really well, as well as pop up really fast, from a couple pro wrestling training sessions. Even though I'd never assume they were teaching me to fight, I learned a lot I can apply to a fight if adapted correctly.
The "clown" facepaint that was supposed to make him humiliated during the fight made the "Master" that he was fighting extra humiliated because he lose against a "Clown". At first, I thought that painting was somekind of war facepaint and at the end I still thought it was a war facepaint.
As a dad with a “dad bod” I decree that you can only look cool doing karate moves if your in great shape. If you rock dad bod you look goofy and clumsy even if you know the moves perfectly. It’s a no no fellas.
A bit of both, maybe. Many guys like this believe their own hype. Losing messes up their self-esteem. A lot of Chinese martial arts look cool, but they aren’t pressure tested the way something like judo or Muay Thai are, so they tend to fall to more experienced fighters.
I already knew this guys story but I think it's kinda important bc it can be very dangerous when someone thinks they can fight or save the day when they can't. I want his story to be seen and heard. You know what's funny, while they criticize Xu for not being a master or calling out fake Masters. If you actually watch him he exhibits a lot of mechanics and techniques that you see in Tai Chi, Wing Chun, traditional Chinese boxing. So if there is really a master of Chinese martial arts this guy is it. It doesn't look pretty because it's not supposed to. It's a dynamic situation he clearly is a great fighter. Who has fundamentals and techniques that derive from traditional martial arts. I'm glad he's sitting there kicking ass and taking names. His name will definitely go up into my motivational wall at my dojo. I'm a practitioner of Japanese martial arts and also various styles of Chinese martial arts. If we're going to keep these Arts alive we need to pressure test the techniques and ask good questions of our instructors. There is too many people who are teachers for just downright not prepared mentally physically spiritually to teach. There's a lot of guys who don't even know how to use a firearm let alone stand in a specific stance. I think the lesson here is, traditional martial arts martial arts came from a place violence it's just a structure. You have to pressure test
I've trained in Kung fu since I was 4-6 and it is just sad to see the people I used to look up to be frauds, popularity leeches, and Forget the meaning of what they created, what they taught me. "Kung fu can be the best if you make it to be... but before any of that you need the results, facts, and hard work to it"
Whether it’s practical in dangerous encounters or not isn’t relevant to me. It’s excellent for body conditioning, coordination, focus and posture. You got be sharped and disciplined to get thru the exercises and forms and that is so practical in every area of our lives excluding fighting. When a martial art stopped evolving, one should just accept that it has evolved into mere tradition or art. I did that with my art, still love it, but I accept that it’s obsolete, and one only practice it as a hobby, not to become a fighter or practical self-defense.
Reporter: So, how do you arrive at the fight being a draw?? Judge: Well, I have to look at many things, each with their own levels of intricate details needing full analysis. But what really swung it for me was when just before the last round I was handed a note saying that if I didn't call it a draw I would taken away for robust plums training where a series of nutters would kick rhythmically in nether regions. And then I would be forced to flatten a square acre of farmland using a roller and said plums 😨.

The beauty of these traditional kung fu forms is the idea of discipline and control of movement. But, in a real world, styles like Muay Thai, BJJ, and boxing would be my “go to.” I practice Tai Chi myself and it is actually good exercise. That’s the only extent of these traditional martial arts.
Yeah, that's the sad bit. Tai chi could have such a good reputation as soft exercise for precise motion and coordination but they just don't wanna leave it at that.
There's nothing wrong with practicing forms, whether in kung fu or karate. I'm a huge advocate of making sure not to forget practicing katas. But the whole reason you do them, is to develop strength, conditioning, and or spirituality depending on your beliefs. They've never been meant for fighting, just look at karate katas vs how it's used in MMA. It's a whole different world when you legit believe they work. Then you've pretty much gone off the deep end
Agreed - Kata/forms are there to create "muscle-memory" for specific actions/reactions too. It's also about mastering your body and your movements, learning to control where your feet move and how you shift your weight. Bunkai can be useful, but in a real-fight it's your practical drills that are going to come out way before anything in forms or kata.
Those with an eye can see what kind of defensive attacks the kata envisions, and therefore every time the false masters in this video make a pointless move, It's easy to tell how fake they are by looking at their wobbly bodies.
The forms/kata are supposed to be the application of the techniques. That's the whole point of them, even though they are stylised movements vs the reality of fighting an opponent.
Sparring/fighting is more important though. These kata-based disciplines don't do much or any sparring/fighting. It's not like you aren't taught proper technique in, say, boxing, and practice it in isolation and combination outside of sparring/fighting also.
6:57 Referring to modern combat sport techniques as "western ideas" is a grave inaccuracy. Different combat sports have different origins, and MMA, in a sense the present king of combat sports, is an amalgamation of these different forms that maximizes effectiveness under the MMA rules (most popularly the Unified Rules of MMA). For example boxing and most forms of grappling are western, Judo and Jiujitsu have Japanese roots and the latter evolved in Brazil, Karate is Japanese, kickboxing is European but learned from Muay Thai, Muay Thai is Thai but learned from boxing, etc., etc..

Not true - watch his many fights. He fights some WC guys as well - legit ones and exposes them as well.
Entire world knows China Kung fu is worthless and useless and only works in IP MAN movies. Stop lying. Xu challenged all fake so called masters of Chinese Kung fu and embarrassed all of them. I saw all of Xu s videos.

If he still lives in China you might want to consider they could have broken the man already.
@@Initium1000 How do you know they are legit? Not even the so called Tai Chi masters are legitamtely trained to fight in their style. It never was about style vs style from what I have observed. It was about fighter against frauds claiming to be fighters.

Anyone else think a fighter based on Xu in Street Fighter would be amazing? Like the whole backstory is there! Exiled from his country for exposing fake fighters and being forced to wear "clown" face paint which is now known as a warriors face!
😆😆 sounds no crazier than some other street fighter stories. I mean, we already have a green fighter who became electric in the Amazon forest.
But, that would get the game banned within China
He’d be awful if he’s the real one. At least Dan can fight. This guy has been photographed refusing fights with people while still broadcasting “I fight anyone” on social media. A good villain character maybe but we already have plenty of iconic villains like Bison or arguably Akuma.
He reminds me of Akuma, but instead hunts after fighters in the likes of Dan (even though Hibiki-style karate is far more efficient).
I'm glad that you showed that post fight interview. First because it shows the hypocrisy of the judge, but also you can tell that the guy doing the interview was not someone that just rolls over because he called the guy out.

Xu, is a modern day hero. Much respect

You almost become cult members... When you inside you will be thinking like them ..

They had a code of honour, which did involve some brutality, as they were warriors.

There is beauty in violence. Why do you think people do it or watch it?

They tried to reverse engineer what they were seeing in theaters. It's like trying to learn to gunfight by watching John Wayne movies.
The "clown" facepaint that was supposed to make him humiliated during the fight made the "Master" that he was fighting extra humiliated because he lose against a "Clown". At first, I thought that painting was somekind of war facepaint and at the end I still thought it was a war facepaint.

He then told me that I should learn how to do Wushu. I told him that my Wushu was good enough and showed him one of my simple moves, which was too fast for him to act or react, and furthermore was deadly if completed.
I no longer needed a Chinese Wushu master.....
I don't want to put down any Kung Fu,,,,as a Kiwi,, running out of the Cinemas in the early 1970s,,, after watching a Classic Chinese Kung Fu movie,, and jumping up and doing flying kicks at thin air.. . those are great memories for MANY WORLDWIDE,, from that time on, Martial Arts spread like WILDFIRE,,..... well done Mr.Xu
3:00 That's Cartman "Roshambo" Technique....you can ask Pip about it...
He was supposed to fight the sake oil salesmen DK Yoo but due to unfortunate situations happening in China at the time the fight was called off.
10:53 I've never seen someone so upset about a love tap. You'd think they were married.
Love the bushido videos,I took bullshido when I was younger, keep up the great work💪😀👍
While attempting to shield their traditional "masters", They inadvertently delivered the worst real ass kicking of their lifetime.
You can really see his frustration and fury when he fights
I did the fake kung fu shit when kids were trying to bully and rob me at school. I did some fake tai chi shit and kids left me alone throughout my time in HS.. it worked for me 😂
10:29 The fall is so much better than whatever the guy's trying to show
0:54 The special grade warrior 💀💀💀
I hope the mad dog knows he’s a hero in the west, considering all the shit he went through.
-Why did you declare the fight a draw?
-Because i wanted, at the end of the fight, to still have a life, not have it taken from me like the Mad Dog.
If they where truly smart they would have Xu train their forces.
All the ric flair and Shawn Michael and Scott hall😂
Selling all the supernatural moves😂
This man should deserve a Noble Peace Prize for his bravery of speaking out the truth against a communist government.
Nah there should be a nobel prize for freedom, but there won't be, because pacifists aren't a threat to the established elites, but freedom is
He's certainly braver than Greenpeace and the climate activists....
I was so surprised to just hear Sum by Meshuggah in the intro. You have excellent music taste!
These sell jobs look more exaggerated than professional wrestling 🤣🤣
I respect Xu, but I notice that he has fought against
Taichi and Wing chun masters, but not against experts of Shaolinquan, Baguazhang or Xingyiquan.
George Dillman's art is DILLDO.
2:46 ayo you can straight up see his twig and berries as he waddles with that 💀
I think the nuts kicking is another way of birth control
Those "masters" who push their students down with the touch of a finger.... I cannot believe that those students do not have more dignity than to just play along like that with their foolish or delusional instructors! 😲
Bruce lee was proving this stuff on the 70s.
Thank you for this amazing video! This is a must watch for anyone who respect the true Chinese culture and got sick of those so called ‘masters’! Xu XiaoDong is our hero. Whatever the Chinese authorities have done or tried to damage his reputation will be in vain. By the way, at 19:09, it should be around 160k usd not 16k.
A real taichi master knows that taichi wont work in a streetfight and wouldnt pick a fight to begin with.
Wow, Zu is a great fighter in and out of the ring. Standing up against such oppression takes great courage...respect!
I can't believe Xu still was willing to fight this guy after this demonstration 11:46. Xu wasn't intimidated by that?
What is wrong needs to be exposed, Xu did the right thing, everyone please support him
how the hell do you apologise for 7 days straight? sounds like a craig david song, gone wrong.....
😅
You guys might be laughing at 1:47, but the wind that that technique generated created a devestating hurricane in Florida years later.
Some kung fu styles actually have some use in street fights i guess like iron fist and karate
@@minecwaftcat4474 But, you still have to mix it with other styles in order to make it work.
Yeah, that's the sad bit. Tai chi could have such a good reputation as soft exercise for precise motion and coordination but they just don't wanna leave it at that.
To be fair to the Chinese masters, that MMA guy never fought a master of similar age or built. He only fought elderly or 2-3 weight classes below him.
The chinese government made him paint his face @20 minute mark.
It's so he resembles a chinese "clown"
The most concerning thing about this video is that the Western establishment seem to view the CCP as something to emulate.
I had a guy doing this shit in judo class, got into a kungfu stance with cobra hands... I almost laughed in his face. It was judo so I didn't punch him or kick him
Bet his face got real familiar with the floor though!
