as a driver of 30 yrs..... I really appreciates and respect all that you and your brothers and sisters do for us out here, our life would be hell without You heavy wrecker guys and gals
I love your attitude towards treating others with respect. We can't control others, only ourselves, and if we treat others with respect at all times, we know, and God knows we've done our part to the best of our abilities.
I’m not a tow truck driver, but a big fan. I was wondering why breakaway chains weren’t used. Maybe they aren’t needed because it was a trailer. Thank you for posting your videos. I always look forward to them. God bless and be safe.
I would have paid money to see some GoPro footage from under the trailer while he was driving it between exits. How in the HECK did that tire get properly seated?!?!
bbyeahwhatever . With automotive tires I’ve seen them use oversized o-rings on the bead and occasionally a ratchet strap around the circumference. Are those methods used on truck tires too? I imagine the strap would have to be pretty strong to work at the higher pressures?
Love your videos I was a long haul trucker from UK I used to run whole europe and middle East gone for 4 month's at a time I also worked on rescue and recovery work in UK with a 40 tonne wrecker a Leyland wrecker not a rotator wow the modern-day wreckers are so good God bless you and your crew
A feature of all your work is how well you have your equipment organised , you find it exactly where it should be. Reminds me of a service operation on a squadron F4s.
I have often wondered what the plumbing was on some trailers. Now I know and it served you real well at the right time. Otherwise a whole new effort would be required. You are so right about respect! Stay safe Ron.
You know, you said that if you treat others with respect, you'll get respect back (most of the time) and I can attest to that. I used to be a trucker. Every time I got pulled over, whether I was speeding or just got pulled over for a random roadside inspection, I always said "yes, sir" or "no, sir." Every time. And I will say that even when I was expecting a ticket, I didn't get one. I didn't try to talk my way out of it or anything, I just treated the officer with respect and I got respect back. #PoliceArePeopleToo #AllLivesMatter
Well, sir!! Never thought I would see the day that a major company would let a driver leave a trailer on the side of the road. Not sure why her did that, but it was done. Nice job on getting it off the road, to a safe place, and getting the tire re-inflated with their technology. Thank you for taking the time to do all the work that it takes to put one of these on here. God bless you and can't wait for the next installment of Day in the Life of Ron Pratt: Tow Truck Driver. Glad you got to take Little Beast out for a spin. :)
Hi Ron, for frozen brakes you can try plugging the air hoses backwards (red in blue). Sometimes just doing that works and you don't have to crawl under the trailer. Saves a lot of time and muddy/wet clothes. Thank for your videos, I really enjoy your work.
Hi Ron, out of all your trucks my favorite is that 2 axle peterbilt wrecker, she’s one sharp looking truck and your a very respectable person. You guys must be tired at the end of the day because everything you do in towing is heavy manual work, plus all the crawling around you do.
Ron very good video. I have been watching some other heavy towing jobs and have noticed that your hook ups and recovery are so much better and more orginized than a lot of others. Keep up the good work and I hope you have a very good New Year!!!
Thank you all very much for the comments and kind words. Safety is always first with us. God bless and thanks for watching. expidition07, Jack Wilson and Anita Martini
Ron, my parents always taught me to respect people unless or until they give me a reason not to respect them. I've always tried to follow through on that, and I'm 74 years old, and it's always worked for me.
37 years ago that is how we hooked up on the stinger on everything we. pulled a lot bumpers of to be able to hook up and tow. Ron you do very good work as always. i am glad you were able to get the brake to releace and the flat tire to air up. Stay safe and GOD bless.
FIRST!!!! Hahahahahahahahahaa!! Ron, you get to have all of the funnnnnnnnn!!!!! I was a trucker for many years, and I can GUARANTEE YOU THIS!! Never in my entire trucking career, did I call my company, with a report of a tire off of the bead, and have them tell me "JUST DRIVE IT, SEE IF IT FIXES IT"! And magically, it's fixed!!!! Never, zero, zip, zilch, nada, nothing, never happened!! And also, I never had a bad tire at the tire shop!! It was always geographically between two shops!! On a weekend! Over a holiday, in bad weather, at night, under a grossed out load, 30 mins ahead on my travel time (no one ever has a break down, unless they are ahead of schedule)!! They always called the furthest tire repair, with the newest tire man, who always left the one tool that was really important in the other truck. That then needed to borrow my vise grips, and a Phillips head screwdriver!! They only ever took cash for road calls, so I had to follow them 150 miles in the opposite direction, back to his shop, thru a small town that didn't allow big trucks, to get a comcheck, to pay the service fee! Otherwise, tire issues weren't that bad!! :-O
Nice, safe recovery Ron. I have slung countless trailers using 2, 5 ft chains but never considered just dragging out 1 long chain to do the trick. More than one way to skin a cat. You watch, you learn. 👍🏾
I love watching your videos. I just found your channel yesterday and after watching 1 video I knew I would be watching more. It’s like that show “highway thru hell” but better. God bless.
Its a pain when that system does not work properly. Instead of inflating. It will deflate the entire tandem in only few hours, and if loose the bead. Your out of luck. The go down road with air on is 20% work. 50/50 when it is wet in 4 miles
I learned that many inventions work. My reaction was exactly like yours. I didn’t want to spend my anniversary date with my wife waiting in line just to get a (3) tires fixed . It worked well.
I guess I'll never fully understand the auto-inflation system, but thank goodness this trailer was equipped with one! The speed and efficiency with which you work impresses me, as I'm sure it does others. Thank you for yet another great video. Blessings!

Usually an optional add on or aftermarket install just like with most "motor" vehicles these days, some makers offer as standard (or optional) a simple pressure monitor system like Tesla for example. My moms Honda CRV has a tire pressure icon much like the Check Engine light leaving you to guess what tire it is and the problem be it pressure loss or a puncture due to a nail or screw being run over and embedding itself.

Hi Ron I am pleased to see that you & most of the police officers get along fine & they help you as much as they can to protect you at the sean of a job.I wish we had the same thing here. some police are very good but some are very difficult & just dont want to understand what you have to do. Every time i see your videos it makes me regret i did not come to America many years ago as i had the offer & didnt go because i was just about to get married but unfortunately that did not work out right either.
The law enforcement and first response agencies in our area have worked hard to develop those relationships. We still don't always agree, but I will be a team player as much as I can without compromising safety. We, just like your location have our issues both good and bad. I am sorry the marriage didn't work out either, but I believe we are exactly where we are suppose to be. God bless.
Boy, I would hate to be the contractor that left that trailer like that. In our contract, we are supposed to stay with the unit until help arrives, have out our triangles and never abandon the equipment. Too many bad things can happen, stolen trailer, stolen tires, etc. I suppose it was empty or they would have never left in any circumstance. Love your videos, Ron, I have a small fifth wheel to fifth wheel wrecker but we need to change to a front lift instead. I love seeing all the accessories you have. We bought the remote light bar this past year for ours.
You would not be surprised how warm a tire gets when rolling on the road in cold weather from cold when it sat for a few hours, rolling friction is an elementary thing.
I'm new to your broadcast but very excited to watch. I love watching the techniques of towing and the engineering that goes into it. Your site puts all of that together so well. I am from Iowa.
Thank you Ron. I have been a volunteer Fire Fighter for almost 15 years and have a desire to get into towing. I love all the engineering that goes into it as well as the planning and safety aspect. I have a local company who I am going to sit down with and just learn from them. I also am enjoying learning from your channel. It's a great source of information.
Ron I really like the way you have started to do your videos. Have been watching you since you had 5k subscribers and really enjoy watching them every time you post a new one. There isn't a video of your I haven't seen yet
Well thank you very much for sticking with me. I can see how much I have learned over time. I hope to continue to gain knowledge and skills in the video department. God bless.
Hey Ron this is Dan Lewis you're doing one hell of a job keep it up keep me informed or alert me every time you roll out God bless as I say be safe if not be safe at it your fan
I picked up a trailer years ago when the auto-inflate was a new thing. It had an inside flat on off the rim just like the pup trailer in this video. The load was light or empty, can't remember. I went down the road about 10-20 miles full speed to a truck stop to call it in and see about getting it fixed. When I got there, the tire was up and not leaking. Ran it for the rest of the day and it did not leak down overnight. That auto-inflate payed for itself saving a road service call.
Another job well done Ron I like to watch all of your Videos as I stated in my comment before you are the best at this kind of work this was a piece of cake for you A BIG THUMBS UP your fan always Stan
Great Video them auto inflators are worth it. I use to deliver pups from Wabash Trailers out of Indiana and by the time we would hook a set and get to trailer checkout they would air up any low tires on the trailers and dollies so needless to say when I became an O/O my trailers had the auto inflators on them tire wear and tire replacement savings alone makes it worth every cent plus I had a lazy driver that didn't give two cents about my equipment (but don't let his check be short) that's why I sent him packing after his third strike.
Good day Ron. Enjoyed the video. Sure does make a difference to have the right equipment and tools. I don't see how you get around without knocking the camera off. Those look like new tires with the label still on. How does a auto inflation system work. Your job is allot like the school maintenance business, for which i am blessed to have retired from. You never know what each day will hold or who or what God will put before you. Take care and God bless.
I was going to compliment you on your organizational habits. It's like you have a diagram with the proper place for everything - including specific hammers that go into specific bags. And you don't seem to "just lay" something down temporarily - even if you're going to use it again within a few minutes, you put it back where it goes. However, as impressive as your organizational habits are, the auto-inflate system on the trailer took center stage. Not that the trailer is equipped with one, but that it actually reset the bead on the tire just by driving it. Setting the bead on a tire that ISN'T on a vehicle can be almost impossible at times. But while the vehicle is being driven....! That's the kind of stuff that stories are told about around camp fires. BTW, I like the camera view from further back in the cab a little better. You can see farther down the highway. And as always, great video. It's too bad I can only give it one thumb's up.
Thanks for including the drive to the scene time lapse again. I really enjoy that part when you add them. And hope the trailer wasn't loaded down. Would be bad if the FedEx trailer was loaded with packages and it was just left there. Anyway, thanks for another great video Ron. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into making your videos to share. EDIT: That was a neat trick to get the tire to inflate, lol.
FedEx has a little known reputation to transfer packages to another trailer until the disabled one can be fixed or moved to a repair shop if needed. Done it myself with a few other smaller companies when a truck or trailer has issues that require it to be towed for repairs to keep the load on time for most part.
RIP headphones users when the guitar music comes in throughout your video! Love your videos Ron, I'm from Arnold/Imperial on 55 up towards STL quite a ways. Currently in Japan though. Your videos are a cure for homesickness for me! Just a minor note though, if you could keep the music at a lower level or similar level to your voice, that might help. I can only imagine the pain headphones users just experienced :)
Frozen air brakes can be a real pain. Worse is inheriting a piece of equipment like this and not knowing its maintenance history. Back in the day, we would carry 'Air Guard' air system anti-freeze. The first thing we would do is put some down the supply line. That would often take care of things temporarily.
Strange that any company would leave a trailer unattended and sitting on a roadway for any reason. Also, I'm amazed that that auto-inflation system would put enough air through to help a tire bead up to the rim just while driving it. Learn something new every day, I guess. And yes, that's a bit of a stretch from a "gooseneck" to a 28' drop-frame, but luckily you brought the right truck for the job :)
I was interested in that as well! I wonder if the tire naturally bows outward towards the bead when you run up at speed. Cause that thing was loose on the rim when he took off. Then once it makes a bit of a seal to the bead, the air from the CTIS can begin inflating it. The way they asked him to do that it must be something they are familiar with doing for popped beads.
See you didnt strap blocks like on rotator. Surprising inflator was able to reset tire like that. Seen them on lots of trucks but didnt know they were able to do that.. Read comments above and enjoyed the sub dive too. Stay safe and warm. In ENC its 24' / 3' am monday.
the way i have been told it works is when you drive fast enough long enough the beads of the tire get forced out and with the air going into the rim it will eventually have enough air to hold it
Used to work for Stoughton trailers, built those exact trailers. Had to go out on the lot once to air up tires that had went flat, jacked up the rear, used the bead blaster with the tire inflation to air up the outside tire. Once that one was seated, I just screwed in the line for the inside tire and it seated itself.......
Those auto tire inflation systems are pretty slick, I talk drivers through it a lot. My company uses tank trailers and several of them have that Tiremaxx inflation system. The drivers start freaking out and i tell them just make sure the system is on, the tires will stay at the proper pressure. Saved a lot of headaches for the drivers by knowing how those systems work 😉
Another great video Ron however speaking with over thirty years experience one of ours could have been fixed. Simply pouring some dry gas or brake guard will thaw most frozen brakes. Happy New Years and may God bless you as well.
I would of never guessed the beads would of reset the way that tire was flopping. I would of had to ethered it or hit with bead blaster. Some times you get lucky I guess. Good Videos, I enjoy them.
Sir Ron !!! Carry a bottle of HEET gas line antifreeze with you for times like this as you can pour some into the emergency line and work it though the air system !! It works believe me as was raised in Buffalo,NY !!! KEEP IT SAFE !!!!
Yes, it works well when there is ice in the air system. In this situation the ice was on the brake shoes. It happens frequently here when there is a lot of moisture and then a rapid decrease in temperature. Ice will form when the vehicle is stopped and the brakes are set. Thanks for watching and God bless.
About ten years ago, I was driving home on the highway late one night when I came up over an overpass to discovered everyone hitting their brakes and going everywhere. A truck was pulling a 53ft trailer and a 38 ft trailer when the 38 ft trailer had come unhooked in one of the two lanes. It must have just happened because the police weren’t there yet and traffic hadn’t backed up very much yet. The driver must have realized he lost his second trailer since he dropped the 53ft trailer in the emergency lane a few hundred feet up the highway and I’m guessing was trying to circle back to grab the 38ft trailer.

Thank you and welcome to my channel. I hope you continue to find the content entertaining and educational. God bless you in Iowa.
I really like how you put the camera in the back of the truck and gives us a feel of being in the truck with you I like it do it more often
I'm very proud about how much your Chanel grew
Ron I really like the way you have started to do your videos. Have been watching you since you had 5k subscribers and really enjoy watching them every time you post a new one. There isn't a video of your I haven't seen yet
Well thank you very much for sticking with me. I can see how much I have learned over time. I hope to continue to gain knowledge and skills in the video department. God bless.
Good video Ron. I enjoy watching what you do. Stay safe and may God Bless you and your family.
Thanks for watching and God bless.
Hey Ron this is Dan Lewis you're doing one hell of a job keep it up keep me informed or alert me every time you roll out God bless as I say be safe if not be safe at it your fan
You seem to have double posted the comment... :)
i love seeing all your trucks Ron
I picked up a trailer years ago when the auto-inflate was a new thing. It had an inside flat on off the rim just like the pup trailer in this video. The load was light or empty, can't remember. I went down the road about 10-20 miles full speed to a truck stop to call it in and see about getting it fixed. When I got there, the tire was up and not leaking. Ran it for the rest of the day and it did not leak down overnight. That auto-inflate payed for itself saving a road service call.
I love the way you move around.A man with a purpose.
That was a different type of recovery and interesting! Thank you!
I was going to be funny and say “Is that why my package is late?” Just kidding. Thank you for all you do Ron!
LOL. God bless and thanks for watching.
Another job well done Ron I like to watch all of your Videos as I stated in my comment before you are the best at this kind of work this was a piece of cake for you A BIG THUMBS UP your fan always Stan
Thanks for watching and God bless.
Love this channel.Always interesting
automatic bead-seating and tire-air-upping. What a time to be alive!
Thanks for watching and God bless.
Great Video them auto inflators are worth it. I use to deliver pups from Wabash Trailers out of Indiana and by the time we would hook a set and get to trailer checkout they would air up any low tires on the trailers and dollies so needless to say when I became an O/O my trailers had the auto inflators on them tire wear and tire replacement savings alone makes it worth every cent plus I had a lazy driver that didn't give two cents about my equipment (but don't let his check be short) that's why I sent him packing after his third strike.
bigdawgsbusa2 yes they are drove 200 miles to the shop with one leaking with a bolt in it . So didn't have call roadside service
Thanks for watching and God bless.
Thank you and so glad you learned something. God bless and keep you.
A pretty good day, nobody hurt, it wasn't raining and just minor pesky problems.
Correct. God bless.
I have truck envy. My F-250 looks like a baby. Good vid.
Dear Mr. Pratt. Once again, thank you for a nice video.
You are welcome and thank you for watching. God bless.
Ron thank you for sharing with us GOD bless everyone
OMG I didn't know that those trailers could be towed how cool I am totally impressed
Thank you for the input. I am still learning. My EARS!!!!!!! LOL Sorry about the blasting tunes. God bless.
I want to be a tow truck driver when I grow up. l love your videos
Another great job done Ron.
Exceptional! All the right tools and equipment and even an auto tire inflation system.
Thank you and God bless.
Ron, really like the new driving camera the old one would get me dizzy as your head moved in time-lapse. Plus we can now see out of the windscreen.
Thank you. My wife says the motion makes her dizzy too. I am looking into some additional options. Always upgrading LOL. God bless.
Still enjoying all your adventures.... Praying you have a very safe 2018 ahead. GOD Bless. :) PS... Love your drive time music!!! :D
Thank you for your support of my channel. God bless.
Nice one Ron , enjoyed watching your professional approach .John
I like in the beginning of the video, when you were starting to hook the trailer you started talking about respect to us. A 'men.
Thank you and God bless.
Love the vid and that's the way I run mine place I treat all people with respect because that's what I was grow up on.
Thank you and God bless.
Stan Patterson its the speed and adding air that does it. It always work above 25 mph unless you have a hole bigger than half inch
Saved a lot of headaches for the drivers by knowing how those systems work 😉
Never would've thought driving down the road would set the bead. Thought they were cray for telling you to try it. Learn something new everyday.
Good, I am glad you found the video educational. I am a bit crazy at times though....LOL God bless.
Another great video Ron however speaking with over thirty years experience one of ours could have been fixed. Simply pouring some dry gas or brake guard will thaw most frozen brakes. Happy New Years and may God bless you as well.
Happy New Year to you as well. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Another fantastic video from Ron. I love your knowledge
Thanks for watching and God bless.
thanks ron kept up the good work and always stay safe man take care to you all your drivers at midewest towling ., tom protzman.
Thank you and God bless.
I would of never guessed the beads would of reset the way that tire was flopping. I would of had to ethered it or hit with bead blaster. Some times you get lucky I guess. Good Videos, I enjoy them.
Thanks for watching and God bless.
SIr Ron !! That's rgt !!! KEEP IT SAFE
Enjoyed watching this video of you fixing the tire and the back window camera view
I like the back window camera and the speed it was going
Thank You. God bless.
Your a hard worker .Thank you for sharing stay safe God Bless 👍😎🇺🇸
so professional. a real pleasure to see your work.
Wow what a mess that would have been. I hope no one was injured. God bless and stay safe.
