I can't believe that people even unlike this video. This piece is wonderful and beautiful.
On this song I definitely love his interpretation.
Yes, me too; many times I feel to be much more influenced by what are people writing instead of the actual work. Thats because I only listen to the music, before I look at the comments or watch the video.
I don't understand why all you people judge in bad way this interpretation... He is living his own "Lovedream" and that's great! Love it's like that... Strong! Powerful! With up and down! And sweet... Love is the interpretation that I give to each song wich I play!
+David Cruz Z. It's mostly trolls who complain. I just listened to it for the third time in one hour. The worst I can say is that this performance is dangerously distracting from me doing my reports.
Your comment is gold, Love is Stong Powerful with Up and Down! And sweet lol. Thanks you, you a are so true
Hater's gonna hate, eh? Well everyone has their own taste, and they can totally disagree with interpretation, even if it is due to their lack of musical talent. If everyone is expected to give thumbs up because other people loves it, that is rather scary. I, though, personally do not think this is Lang's best interpretation at all. I see lack of control of speed and emotion.
Is the girl in this “lovedream” saying, “ow, that hurts”, “slow down”, and, “I don’t like being spanked”?
Lang Lang is by far my favorite pianist!
I love watching him play the piano. It's almost a dance. Beautiful!
Awesome. I don't understand how people say it's all just technical. But as a piano player for many years, I would say that this man put all his soul into piece. Great respect.
Very beautiful. A true pianist can feel the music flowing through oneself.
Lang Lang's music means a lot to me. He is so inspiring. I love his music!
Beautiful interpretation of Liebestraum No.3 Lang Lang is a truly talented individual.
¡Bravo, Lang Lang!
Funny, isn't it? Those who hate or jealous of Langlang can not but listening to his performance!! I really enjoy seeing this phenomena!!
You all criticize his "mannerisms" or his "movements", but you don't realize how hard it is to produce that kind of solid bright sound with those movements. If you actually play piano, I suggest you try it yourself. His finger strength really is excellent. Also, his interpretation may be different, but hey, that's what interpretation means. So get over it.
***** What you are talking about still falls under "interpretation". And please, out-of-the-norm interpretation and preferences doesn't mean someone doesn't have a good musical sense. In our times, the more stand-out you are, the more successful you will be. If you really limit yourself to that "acceptable" box, you won't get anywhere.
***** Look up the definition of Rubato, please, and also, interpretation can "break rules", or go beyond what's written on the music. But I didn't say interpretation has to go that far out-of-the-norm, like what you suggest. What LL did, at least for this piece, isn't that far of a stretch (compared to some of the other pieces he played anyways). Also, if what I said wasn't a valid idea, then can you explain why LL's famous, and not you with your rules?
***** Yes there are rules, but rules can be stretched depending on interpretation. And finally, bye.
him playing this piece makes me happy!
A beautiful interpretation
He plays this so so SOOO well. i love it
Great performance, poor recording and 360p video. But his artistry is undeniable.
He is incredibly talented- there is no denying that. I do prefer the recording of Barenboim, however. Great performance nonetheless!
Beautiful!!
Encore, Lang Lang!!
All those who criticize him do not know to listen to music with their ears. It is rather sad. He is able to make a beautiful tone and that is what is important for a musician.
love him or hate him, he is one of the best out there. Bravo Lang Lang!
I don't care what kind of facial expressions he makes, his hands glide effortlessly over the keys and I can't even imagine what it'd be like conquering the piano like he has. This is my "Mount Everest" piece to learn and as daunting as it is, will do it....
A good player respects the songs original play style but as well develops their own in the process
Okay. I've reached a final point with this. At first I criticized lang lang for his Mannerisms, but now I realize something. He's Human. He moves like a human. It's ridiculous to ask him to act with the formality of a feather duster. It's simply the way he plays, and his technicality is definitely apparent. He sometimes stifles emotions in pieces, yes, but in other circumstances, he's just as emotional as any other great pianist. So I only have one last repertoire to you critics and old men, sitting around with a piano-prop stick up your asses and your collars so tight around your throats that to crane your neck upwards would be as to kaleidoscope your spine: BAAAAAA.
Franz Liszt himself was adored for his looks as much as for his playing (and ostensibly his composing). This is a great performance *because* Lang Lang looks beautiful.
I see three important things here:freedom of interpretation, emotion and great technique...who could dare ask more?wonderful!!!!!!
Fantástico, aunque un pelín teatral. Pero sigue siendo genial!
this is so easy for him that he falls asleep while playing
You´re right! But for me it´s a real challenge to play this. Especially the two fast parts are very difficult, because you´ve to play this emotionally and very very clearly. You absolutely hear it, when you play a (singular) wrong key.
I am such a fan of Lang Lang.... I greet him from New Zealand!
Lang Lang is the classical next generation. Passion!!!
The classical is for everybody...
182 ppl are deaf
Hey don’t insult deaf people like that, the dislikers are people who have a bad taste in music
DONT WATCH!!!! JUST LISTEN. :D
As a reviewer, I'd like to say that he is very gifted, but also a hard worker. Anyone who can play like this deserves to show off a bit. He will grow out of this stage. He is still young. I recommend getting one of his DVDs and watching it. You will see that his enthusiasm is in sharing this music with the world, and getting more younger people into concert halls instead of just venues for rock and rap. If you want to find people in the music industry who are truly egotistical, look THERE.
BEAUTIFUL ! WELL we must accept his particular style !!!
People criticize his mannerisms whilst they are not able to read a single musical note.
I'm can play this piece, and you can tell he's trying too hard to make it sound dramatic that he played wrongs notes at 2:02
S. Rachmaninov its not wrong its athe lowest octave b sounding wrong
S. Rachmaninov kk then play it and upload it , if it’s as good as his u can shut up
People clearly don't understand what it means to pour your soul into music when they criticize lang lang's manneurisms
Soul??? WHAT SOUL? What soul did you recognize in this performance?? Are you deaf or incredibly stupid?
TheMetalAge19 You said: " Learn this, you ignorant, naive morons: His popularity does not make him a great pianist". Lang Lang is one of the most brilliant pianists today, the level and quality of things he can do on the instrument is massive, beyond my ability and I am sure most certainly beyond yours. His popularity is only a side effect of his talent as a pianist, Lang Lang practiced for years, for hours a day, won numerous piano competitions as a child and far surpasses any average pianist. Do you have any experience yourself as a pianist? I suggest to not bash on others' interpretations and attempt to force your opinions on others unless you have some solid foundation of piano technique and performance knowledge, otherwise you come off as ignorant.
rachmanny
Ah, but of course. There comes the most common argument in the world: ,,Do not criticize anyone if you are not at their position". Justin Bieber is a better musician than I am. But why? -Cause he`s got tons of money and millions of fans, and I am known by not more than 300 people. Justin Bieber also won numerous rewards. Can`t you see that commerciality has entered the world of the classical music as well? Take Valentina Lisitsa for example. Great technique, attractive, but no emotion at all. Just listen to her performance of Chopin`s Ocean etude, that`s horrible, she doesn`t even respect the rhythm, totally decapitated the piece. She is also one of the most famous pianists today, and she got famous pretty quickly, if I might add. Prizes don`t always testify about your ability. I have won numerous awards in my country and I never even mention it, but you asked me if I had any experience. Have you ever felt love? What is the name of this composition? -Love dream. Does the word LOVE mean anything to you? Does it mean anything to Lang Lang? Do you think love makes people aggressive instead of calm and serene? Do you think love would inspire anyone to almost ,,JUMP" over the piano? Do you think Beethoven rushed while playing his moonlight sonata? Do you think Liszt, who, indeed was one of the best virtuoso pianists in the history and possessed divine technique used this piece to present his ability? I have heard hundreds of interpretations of Moonlight sonata and not a single pianist is aware of what he or she is playing. Empty tones. You simply cannot treat this composition the same way you treat Liszt`s or Rachmaninoff`s etudes. When I fell in love with my lady, I was in pain thinking that I would never be with her. I played moonlight sonata one night and I played so slow that no one could endure to hear the whole piece at the time. Now that`s what music is about. It is certainly not about playing deep pieces at the speed of light and crashing the piano, all the while ACTING like you are actually emotionally connected to what you are playing. Look at the guy, his psychological behavior is so obvious, the classic movements of the head, closing the eyes and pointing your face up in the sky. Please...
Instantly made me cry. Absolutely magnificent.
Lang Lang you are BRILLIANT!!! your soul is free! great music!
2:02 I love how he played the wrong bass note at this moment cause he went too hard and tried to make it look too dramatic, but then plays the wrong bass note AGAIN so it wouldn't sound as suspicious LMAO
My piano teacher would be screaming bloody murder. That's like the very climax of the song! How could you do such a thing! XD
+CHIA it's not, he's done it in other performances, it's a bFlat octave played the lowest possible, sounds wrong but it isn't.
Can't even spell his name right smh
AWESOME !...i'm going to learn this too !...what a wonderful song ever !
absolutely gorgious,i wish i could play like him.
Bravo!!
Good player, but lack of soul on this song. 1:37 he ruin what the song try to build.
He makes it look so easy, like the piano is just an extension of himself.
Lang Lang is a fine musician. He worked long and hard to be able to play as well as he does. More power to him.
I think he caught the spirit and the idea wonderful. He made it big - huge - enormous!
Just as Liszt was. His music is very full and he almost always use all the keyboard with tones of chords and notes.
beautiful touch and sensitive interpretation
I've been to a concert of his. He's very entertaining to watch, but even more entertaining to listen to.
What I respect him for is that he's been heavily criticized by many on his exaggerated expressions and the such throughout the years. But he doesn't care, he still does his thing, maybe it's just what he needs to get into it and make wonderful music. All geniuses are somewhat eccentric after all.
Simply put, I just respect the fact that he doesn't fold to public opinion.
I guess there are no right or wrong ways, each person has their own "feeling" of the music. He is briliant.
I can feel it - thx Franz & Lang Lang
Lang Lang's every performance falls me deep in dreams and Love :)
Wunderbares Stück, Traumhafter Pianist - LANG LANG IS THE BEST!!
once, i often played this piece perfectly by hobby, and i have no piano now. Sometimes i miss that time and come here and see this video.
I just love this person. God bless you so much and forever.
Thanks for uploading!!!
He makes it look so easy. Amazing.
Liszt is meant to be listened to, experienced, felt in your heart, in your every cell. After struggling to even get close to this, I am in heaven.
I wish I loved one thing as passionately as Lang Lang loves playing the piano.
I saw him live in 2002 at my University. He played the Liszt Paganni Etudes, including La Campanella. He played some Hayden and Schubert. His music was completely amazing and perfect. I could tell from the beginning of his recital, that he was far superior to the folks who I just heard that previous summer in a local piano competition.
beautiful beautifully played
People who know something about music will understand that this artist plays the piano with great emotion which is also a reason why he looks like this when he plays (which ignorant people call funny). It's not only about techniques, it's much more about expression, that is all you have to understand. This is why he is awesome.
Absolutely wonderful music
How can one criticize him? He uses his fabulous technique-he does what he wants with a piano- to serve his musicality no less fabulous.Perhaps it is his strong personality that some people dislike? He looks good, too, that man, I also think it is not to serve him.Our times no longer love or kindness, or real sensitivity.
People, it's interpretation of love... Such love, as he may have experienced. If it's a love, with a lot of passion, expression, so he plays so. I liked it very much.
Truly wonderful.
Excelent!! The best Liszt nocturne! Genious Lang Lang!! Come soon to Argentina!! I want to see you!!
i love this type of music
wow 15 años han pasado de esta magistral interpretación, como pasa el tiempo.. grande lang lang
Fantastic.
You don't listen to music with your eyes, you listen to it with your ears.
beautiful, Lang Lang is a genius
I'm happy to see that I'm actually not the only one drawing circles while playing
We can't underestimate any musicians, because each one plays his music as wants ... or as their soul wants...
wonderful interpretation...more power
Lang Land lives for his music!
Listen to it with your eyes closed. It's pretty nice.
he is in love with this instrument
He certainly appears to have a love dream. How magical.
I almost cry...
the greatest pianist of this time !
Lang Lang play this music so nicely and soft. With so many feelings. Why you guys hate Lang Lang? He is the best pianist ever on this century. You guys should be nice to him.
I love lang lang's playing
wuuunderschön! ich bin begeistert!!!
I'm sure this guy could play the C scale and it would sound brilliant!! Nothing he plays sound boring... he makes everything sound fun, special, beautiful! What an artist!
bravo bravo und nochmals bravo..lang lang !
i don think we all can judge on a person's expression because this is how they feel towards it when playing the piano . :)
even if it's acting, music is all about performing. and i see a wonderful performance
When you're the best at something, people will always try to pull you down from the top... He's a master of his craft
A magnificent interpretation!!!
sublime
i dont know why people dont like lang-lang?
he's awesome, he plays piano with his emotion..
maybe some people think its overrated or whatever
but heeeyy, look. he's a genius.
hes AMAZING
BRAVO!!!
:D I love how players get into the music and they feel it through their bodies. It helps give life to the music imo. I want to learn this song so bad
