      Hater's gonna hate, eh? Well everyone has their own taste, and they can totally disagree with interpretation, even if it is due to their lack of musical talent. If everyone is expected to give thumbs up because other people loves it, that is rather scary. I, though, personally do not think this is Lang's best interpretation at all. I see lack of control of speed and emotion.

    You all criticize his "mannerisms" or his "movements", but you don't realize how hard it is to produce that kind of solid bright sound with those movements. If you actually play piano, I suggest you try it yourself. His finger strength really is excellent. Also, his interpretation may be different, but hey, that's what interpretation means. So get over it.

      ***** What you are talking about still falls under "interpretation". And please, out-of-the-norm interpretation and preferences doesn't mean someone doesn't have a good musical sense. In our times, the more stand-out you are, the more successful you will be. If you really limit yourself to that "acceptable" box, you won't get anywhere.

    • @xFirebird925x
      @xFirebird925x 10 років тому

      ***** Look up the definition of Rubato, please, and also, interpretation can "break rules", or go beyond what's written on the music. But I didn't say interpretation has to go that far out-of-the-norm, like what you suggest. What LL did, at least for this piece, isn't that far of a stretch (compared to some of the other pieces he played anyways). Also, if what I said wasn't a valid idea, then can you explain why LL's famous, and not you with your rules?

    • @xFirebird925x
      @xFirebird925x 10 років тому +1

    Okay. I've reached a final point with this. At first I criticized lang lang for his Mannerisms, but now I realize something. He's Human. He moves like a human. It's ridiculous to ask him to act with the formality of a feather duster. It's simply the way he plays, and his technicality is definitely apparent. He sometimes stifles emotions in pieces, yes, but in other circumstances, he's just as emotional as any other great pianist. So I only have one last repertoire to you critics and old men, sitting around with a piano-prop stick up your asses and your collars so tight around your throats that to crane your neck upwards would be as to kaleidoscope your spine: BAAAAAA.

    As a reviewer, I'd like to say that he is very gifted, but also a hard worker. Anyone who can play like this deserves to show off a bit. He will grow out of this stage. He is still young. I recommend getting one of his DVDs and watching it. You will see that his enthusiasm is in sharing this music with the world, and getting more younger people into concert halls instead of just venues for rock and rap. If you want to find people in the music industry who are truly egotistical, look THERE.

      TheMetalAge19 You said: " Learn this, you ignorant, naive morons: His popularity does not make him a great pianist". Lang Lang is one of the most brilliant pianists today, the level and quality of things he can do on the instrument is massive, beyond my ability and I am sure most certainly beyond yours. His popularity is only a side effect of his talent as a pianist, Lang Lang practiced for years, for hours a day, won numerous piano competitions as a child and far surpasses any average pianist. Do you have any experience yourself as a pianist? I suggest to not bash on others' interpretations and attempt to force your opinions on others unless you have some solid foundation of piano technique and performance knowledge, otherwise you come off as ignorant.

      rachmanny
      Ah, but of course. There comes the most common argument in the world: ,,Do not criticize anyone if you are not at their position". Justin Bieber is a better musician than I am. But why? -Cause he`s got tons of money and millions of fans, and I am known by not more than 300 people. Justin Bieber also won numerous rewards. Can`t you see that commerciality has entered the world of the classical music as well? Take Valentina Lisitsa for example. Great technique, attractive, but no emotion at all. Just listen to her performance of Chopin`s Ocean etude, that`s horrible, she doesn`t even respect the rhythm, totally decapitated the piece. She is also one of the most famous pianists today, and she got famous pretty quickly, if I might add. Prizes don`t always testify about your ability. I have won numerous awards in my country and I never even mention it, but you asked me if I had any experience. Have you ever felt love? What is the name of this composition? -Love dream. Does the word LOVE mean anything to you? Does it mean anything to Lang Lang? Do you think love makes people aggressive instead of calm and serene? Do you think love would inspire anyone to almost ,,JUMP" over the piano? Do you think Beethoven rushed while playing his moonlight sonata? Do you think Liszt, who, indeed was one of the best virtuoso pianists in the history and possessed divine technique used this piece to present his ability? I have heard hundreds of interpretations of Moonlight sonata and not a single pianist is aware of what he or she is playing. Empty tones. You simply cannot treat this composition the same way you treat Liszt`s or Rachmaninoff`s etudes. When I fell in love with my lady, I was in pain thinking that I would never be with her. I played moonlight sonata one night and I played so slow that no one could endure to hear the whole piece at the time. Now that`s what music is about. It is certainly not about playing deep pieces at the speed of light and crashing the piano, all the while ACTING like you are actually emotionally connected to what you are playing. Look at the guy, his psychological behavior is so obvious, the classic movements of the head, closing the eyes and pointing your face up in the sky. Please...
