Have the EMR II - LOVE the Big Ol' Size! I like that this one you don't have to put the straps over around the outside of the wing pockets. Like some said below I like the external pockets for things like Mouth calls and Z-Lite sit pad cushion, cat-hole digger, and camp hatchet. Seems like it should have another set of clips on the fold-over part of the bag to make it easy to use our existing guide lids though. So they'd sit right on the top of the bag. As opposed to hanging of the back surface of the bag. Very good move though taking those compression straps and not having them go around the outside of the wing pockets. I'm often needing to strap predator seat cushion and predator/turkey mini seat (that hunterspec one) onto the back, and it's a bit of a PITA grasping for the straps on the outside of the wing pockets on the EMR II as they (both the wing pockets and the straps) tend to fall away towards the front of the pack while its on the ground and you're buckling everything up to it. So can be a PITA hunting around the outside of those wing pockets to grasp the end of the strap. Another recommendation? Some 3rd party vendor has these little sling hooks you can attach to your shoulder straps, so that when you sling-up your rifle over your shoulder.. this hook thing will keep your sling strap from sliding off the packs shoulder strap and thus, further down your shoulder. EDIT: And MUCH NICER having those zips run length-wise down the wing pockets! The ones at top of wing pockets on EMR II typically *require* two hands to undo when the wing pockets are strapped down. So that length-wise zip placement seems great for easier unzipping and also easier for getting at stuff more toward the bottom of those pockets without having to unload everything on top of it first!
Love the passive straps on the new model, but definitely miss the external pockets that the EMRII has, they are money for shit tickets and crampons come late season.
Great price. Why is this pack cheaper than some of your other full size packs? Were there any compromises to the suspension system or belt for the lower price?
