I agree with everything you say. I was on board with the game until this came to light. As a parent myself, I'm pretty strict about not letting my kids play games with MTX. LEGO games had always been safe from this business model, until now. The Season pass option I'm OK with as it's usually clear what you are purchasing and often that content goes on sale and can actually represent good value for money, (like in some of the TT LEGO games with additional levels). If all the content from the in game store is available through gameplay and the real world money option is just an alternate way to purchase those items, that's fine. But if there is any content that is ONLY available in game by spending real world money, then I won't be buying this. Part of the fun of the LEGO games has always been unlocking every item and getting 100% completion. Putting that achievement behind a paywall would be a bad move, and very disappointing.

WWE made a bad decision and it seems like LEGO made a bad one too.. Tt games and THQ were their previous developers but then 2K screws them over
I know for a fact that theyre going to shove any new skins or anything right in their faces anytime the game launches to try entice kids. As much as its the parents responsibility, the tactics to push microtransactions in live service games are very much similar to mobile p2w tactics
As long as the game is not online-only and I can play it single-player without the need for an internet connection, I'm still gonna buy it sometime after it's out.
I'm excited for this since I've always wanted a Lego racing game. I've never played the other two Lego racers since I never knew about them. I hope Warner Bros releases a kart racer since all these companies have been releasing them. Nintendo has Mario Kart 8, Sega has the Sonic Kart racing trilogy, Activision has Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Nickelodeon has a kart racing trilogy, Disney is releasing their kart racer in april, and now Lego with 2K Drive.

I hope you can build bigger cars and that it is online multiplayer races I was a huge fan of Hot Wheels Unleashed even thought some desisions was wrong in my opinion. These 3 expansion packs is about 20$ more expensive than Hot Wheels Unleashed expansion packs was. Hot Wheels Unleashed was maybe 60$ 70$ 80$ + 20$ for racing season craracter cars Lego 2K drive Is about 80$ 100$ 120$ + more stuff I don't know the price. By the way, there is rumor Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is coming. :) And Brick riggs is also very funn. Its similar to a lego simulator builder. You can build your dream vehicle. Or download what ever you can think of. A bit hard to learn. And can lagg often. Only 10$ on steam.
It’s a video game by 2k. Yes it’s a full priced game and it should be because the dlc content is optional.. as a 15 year old myself I hate that the game will have MTX but it’s dlc and cosmetics like many other games have. I LOVE driving games. This was gonna be a day one, most expensive edition, purchase for me. Daaaang... The 'live service' aspect of this doesn't bother me. Some of my favorite games are live service and if it fits the game (rocket league) I'm cool, if it doesn't (Gotham knights) I'm pissed. The season pass I'm less keen on, the mtx REALLY upset me...
Honestly man I don't have a problem with this. This game would be perfect as live service. Look at crew 2 and how long ubisoft has supported it. This is crew 2 but in lego. Ur not forced to buy micro transactions or whatever battle pass or etc. It's just an option. I'm sure u can earn in game. Even if u couldn't. I still don't have an issue. Devs are underpaid and are overworked. There is a reason so many games are going live service or free to play. Micro transactions means more money. I'm not a corporate shell. And I understand why people would be upset but the gaming industry isn't about what we want. It's all about money. And I'm not a kid and I want this game lol
Just because a game gets various forms of mtx, that doesn't mean increased revenue for the Devs. As for it's just an option, that line has been used to defend mtx to the point actual gameplay became a slog of a mountain climb to make the game feel so rewarding until you finally pay up more and more real world cash. Earning anything will be drip fed with 90% of anything players will want being tied to the the battlepass premium using Fear Of Missing Out to get a impulsive purchase. I'm not a corporate hater, but there's a reason why people and government officials have been trying to get laws in place.
to call it the Crew 2 in LEGO is not a 1 to 1 match, for reference this is an Ubisoft game, which this, is in its title a game with 2K piloting the decisions, and I will say I am both eyes open with this company for what it has pulled in the past, people are aware and worried for good reasons. I've been a veteran racer and have been ever since Choro Q games were still around, even played LEGO Racers 2 itself and beat it upgradeless as a kid...somehow...I just worry that if an up to £104 game will need you to chip in £100 more to get access to the fun bits of creative mode.

Cool live service driving game that’s a good idea gets more content makes it worth the money by the end if they actually support it
