Excellent travail. Ma note est de 10/10..LOL

    Hello Jennifer, I got myself a cricut explore 3 just a few weeks ago. I was excited to get started using it but my very first project (iron on shirt) didn't go as I expected. I used the smart iron vinyl and when I tried to cut it, it didn't go very well. When it was finished and I removed it from the cricut it wasn't cut properly. (thankful I decided to start with the smallest part of the shirt and didn't waste much vinyl) I use white vinyl and could barely see where it was cut. I checked my steps to make sure I didn't do anything wrong. And, for the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I mirrored my design (but I know that doesn't have anything to do with how it cuts) I used more pressure and the smart vinyl option. AND, it wouldn't let me cut a second time like my old cricut does. I tried a test cut with smart vinyl on a mat and it let me cut a second and third time (and I'm sure as many as I wished). I ended up duplicating my project twice (to make it cut 3 times) in order to complete my shirt because it was for my mother to wear on her weekend away and I only had a couple of hours to get it finished.
    My question is . . . Am I doing something wrong? Why doesn't the cricut allow a second cut when using just the smart vinyl? If making duplicates of each and every project made with iron on vinyl is the answer then that is a huge waste of time.
    just a side note, I'm not really impressed with the amount of wasted vinyl when using the smart products. I think it would have been better to just put the vinyl on the "cut" section of the carrier sheets. (make it look like the mat with vinyl a little bit in from the edges.

    Hi Jennifer, thanks for the lesson. Well taught and received. need to know though, if you have a decal that has an overlay, should both parts be printed with mirror on? Cause I tried that and one came out backwards.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  Місяць тому

      For decals that have an overlay, you generally do not need to mirror both parts unless you are working with iron-on transfers. If you are using regular vinyl for a decal, you should not mirror the design. However, if you are using iron-on transfers, you should mirror the design to ensure it comes out correctly when applied.

    I heard you say that Sport Flex can’t be layered over Everyday Iron-on, but can it be layered with another Sport Flex color? Or if you use two colors, do they need to be side by side and not overlapped due to how thin the Sport Flex material is? I have a Poly-Nylon blend active shirt that has no cotton at all. If I am not able to use two colors of Sport Flex, will Everyday Iron-on even work on that fabric?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  2 роки тому +1

      Because of the stretch in the Iron On, it cannot be layered on top of Everyday Iron On. Side by side would be best. For the poly-nylon check the care instructions for the fabric before application to be sure the fabric can withstand a hot iron. If it is a light color polyester Infusible Ink is a wonderful alternative. jennifermaker.com/cricut-infusible-ink-layered-t-shirt/

    Why did you use butcher paper over the sport flex instead of parchment? Would that work just as well?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  2 роки тому

      Butcher paper is a thick kraft paper that works well, while parchment paper has a non-stick coating on it.

    DO u need to use the heat press or is an iron ok to use?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  Місяць тому

      You can use either a heat press or an iron for applying iron-on vinyl to a t-shirt. If you don't have a heat press like the Cricut EasyPress, an iron will work as well. Here are some key points to consider:
      Heat Press (Cricut EasyPress):
      Set the temperature and time according to the material and vinyl type using the Cricut heat guide.
      Provides even heat distribution.
      No need for additional protective layers like parchment paper or Teflon sheets.
      Iron:
      Set the iron to the cotton setting.
      Preheat the shirt for 10-15 seconds.
      Use parchment paper or a Teflon sheet to protect the iron and the vinyl.
      Apply medium pressure for 25-30 seconds, ensuring the iron covers the design as evenly as possible.
      Flip the shirt and apply heat to the back for an additional 25-30 seconds.
      Both methods require preheating the shirt and ensuring the design is centered. The heat press is generally more consistent, but an iron can achieve good results with careful application.

    • @JenniferMaker

      It is recommended not to layer glitter on top of glitter. They also recommend that you not put any other heat transfer material on top of glitter - it should be the top most layer. It may not last for many washes.
