I bought a K4m on eBay and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. I think thee most underrated vintage synths of them all are the Kawai K1, K3, K4, and K5. They are superb.
@@TheJesterboy1969 I read that on Vintage Synth (I think). The individual outs are appealing though. I’m remodeling my basement where all my music equipment is with none of it currently set up. When I get it set up again I’m going to experiment with running the K4m’s outs through effects plugins. I want to layer its tones over my analog synths.
My first real professional synthesizer was the K-1. I think I was 14 years old. It was a huge birthday present for me (especially for my parents working-class low income bracket!) the K4 had just come out that same month. I was there the day they unboxed it. I wanted it so bad, but I pretended to want the K-1 more because I knew, the K4 was just an affordable for my mom and dad but I love that K-1 I learned how to program oscillators, etc. I should never have sold that sense after my dad passed away. I really wish I could afford to go buy a used K4 or K-1 just to Remember the sacrifices my old man made sending me all those years to piano instruction that taxed his finances, but he never complained once. Thats my Kawai story. Lol
I had them myself, and I remember fondly, and I also had a memory card with other great sounds. And to this day, I still use their older brother K1 II as midi keys for studio work.😎
Thank you Eaglechild for this demo, it was quite enjoyable as always. I love the K4. It can sound very analog, very digital and everything in between. I also find it easy to program. I bought mine not knowing what to expect and in no time I knew it was a keeper. Cheers !
Hola compañero! Desafortunadamente ya no tengo mi K4.De todas formas creo que en el grupo de Facebook los tienen en la sección de archivos. Buena suerte! ;-)
My father had a K1 in our music room around 1989 and I still remember I didn't like it and this vid shows me once again why...even though it's a K4...too synthetic...but perfect for JCV Karate B-movies from that era (Bloodsport etc) I quickly became a Roland and Korg fanboy....though the first sound was great!
Thank you Johnny 😉👍 Honestly… The internal effects are not so good in my opinion. (The delay is the only I like a little bit) but if you add a good external FX makes a big difference.
Muchas gracias Maxi! Saludos! ;-)
Are these all stock sounds from the K4? I just got a K4 and it has had all the factory sounds cleared. I haven't had the chance to check it out. Just subscribed! 😃🙌
Thank you Nathan! These are not factory sounds. Proabably if your sounds are not there you will need to replace the battery if has never been replace it before.
Hey mate! Sorry for the late reply. I don't have the K4 anymore because I sold it to buy new gear. Now I'm looking for the rack version. Anyway, I think I purchased it from Doctor Synth or Soundengine on eBay back in the day. I believe he's still running his website if you want to contact him. doctorsynth.com/homepage/synthesizer-sounds-for-download
Hey Dj_fishwigy , Last week I ordered the 1.4 in Ebay to improve the stuck note issue. I don't know if it's exactly what you are experience with yours, but mine feels a bit laggy when you hit any note compare with other synths. Hope the 1.4 can improve that... Will let you know when arrive. Cheers!
@@eaglechildkeys mine has 1.3 The only thing I don't like is the click, but I'm not getting stuck notes whatsoever. That's my poor man's D-50. Today, I have to change the battery. I'm very tempted to remove the metal on the backplate to make it lighter.
@@fishwigy Hey Dj_fishwigy. Yesterday I upgraded the OS to 1.4 . Honestly I haven't noticed so much difference. (Or even anything). In the description it says : The OS v1.4 upgrade provides bug fixes related to midi communication, system code issues and general stability. Fixed - Major lag when playing many notes simultaneously. I've especially always noticed the K4 PIANOS have some lag compare to other synths, (or maybe is the key response?) Anyways , this 1.4 doesn't seem to correct it much. So I guess it's normal in this synth... About MIDI haven't checked anything yet.
@@eaglechildkeys hey Eaglechild. Have you recapped your k4? Mine has some distortion when played hard. I want to get good capacitors so I can use the keyboard more.
@@fishwigy Not, I haven’t. So far mine it works fine (no distorted sound) , but I cross my fingers that I don't have to replace them someday in the future, because I'm not very good at repairments, unless is battery replacement! 😕

Almost put a cheeky bid in that but resisted this time haha
Sadly the k4m doesn't have all the effects of the k4... but it does have individual outs.

Indeed! Kawai doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
Very unknown and underrated supersynth a hidden treasure
Agree. The good point is that you can get at very low price compare with other synths. Really awesome machine :-)
Yes! It's utterly unique sounding. I still have one - still love it.
This
A Totally underrated Synth, Has Great Sounds.🎹🎹
True. Very nice synth and still is very affordable ;-) Cheers!
I had it soon after it was released. Excellent instrument! Even today it sounds relevant...
Absolutely! It’s a highly underrated synth. 👍🎹💫 I can only imagine how cool it must have been to own one of these back in the late ’80s
Uniquely sounding synth with a huge range of wave shapes and a juicy filter. I love the digital quirky engine. This is a keeper. 😊
Thanks Nichttuntun ;-) Yes, very underrated synth.
Magnifico.💎💎💎💎💎💎
Thanks man! 🎹🙏✨
amazing synth, beautiful machine, great demo!

Nice story Josh ;-)
Very kind your family. I had the K1, it's great synth and still very affordable nowdays.
You are a good son. My respect to You.
Cool and very underrated digital synth. I have two of them, K4 and K4r and they are amazing,
The K4 is really awesome synth. The effects no so good, I would use external ones IMO... Cheers! ;)
@@eaglechildkeys True. Also the drums are lousy ;-)
That "ANALOGISH" Pad sounds just perfect.

Nice programming

Thank you Maxime! Probably one of my favourite synths too. I don't know how many times I let it go and I bought it again because I miss it! Cheers!
Have the K4r .. it makes some very unique sounds that analogs cannot replicate. Andddd it can sound analog itself.
Still very underrated synth! Thanks for watching :-)
Another awesome demo, been waiting for you to do the k4! Also, can you please Give us some more k4 videos that would grrrrrreaaaat hahahaha
Thank you Bobby! I appreciate it man ;-)
I bought mine with some broken keys for 150 bucks just a couple months ago. Got it restored to immaculate condition and i love it
Nice price! Very underrated the K4, it's an excellent synth ;-)
What is the sound name for the tone generated at the beginning of the video the one before sweet and soft
And how many sound banks (memory card with presets)?
Hola!

Saludos!
Can I buy these patches?

Me recomendarías hacerme con uno si lo que busco es sonidos ochenteros raros y bastante analógicos ?
