- Jamie Lee Curtis starred in 1998's Virus and for years has been telling people it's the worst movie. I brought in Casey the final girl and Captain Boomies to check out the movie and decide if it really is her worst!

I unironically LOVE this movie..... its at the era of special effects before CGi fully took over, the model work, the animatronics, the makeup are so good!
The captain has great voice. Smooth and sultry. Suits her chill attitude.

I loved seeing Captain Boomies again! It's awesome when she drops some nautical knowledge.

The cyborg busting through the wall calling Steeeeve and then the guy completely losing it is too funny, this film is alright.

Ive been thru every hurricane that has hit south florida since hurricane andrew, i can confirm the eye is definitely calm, so much so that back in the day people would mistake it for the storm passing and they would come out and get plummeted a few minutes later when the eye ends and the other side of the storm starts
Wouldn't that only be "calm" on land though, if you are in the eye in the middle of the ocean im not sure all the water that is surrounded by a hurricane would just stop moving right lol

The scene in which they talk with the alien trough the computer (which according to Wikipedia is called The Intelligence) kind of reminds me a scene from Sphere from 1998 when the protagonist also talk with the "alien" in a similar way.

I remember watching this movie with my father when I was a kid. It's not terrible. Just a goofy 90s Sci-Fi movie and I liked Baldwin's performance. Donald Sutherland was cool in this too, he genuinely looked the part of a salty sea captain lmao

I always assumed Richie was ex-military. The situation caused him to experience a form of PTSD and he kinda flipped into survival mode.

I saw this in theaters with my Dad when I was a kid. He passed a long time ago so its always a reminder of him. Bad movie or not. Lol.

The scariest thing about the movie Virus with the fact that it had a action figure toy line. I bought the Jimmy Lee Curtis figure only because I needed a Laurie Lloyd to go with my Michael Myers.

Sphere is a very different movie buddy. I think you might be mixing Sphere with Deep Rising.

That's crazy! I just got issue 1 and 3 of the comics from a thrift store a while back because i thought the cover was sick. Had no clue it had this adaptation! Im bummed i couldn't find issue 2!

Watching it in HD, not on VHS, the "final boss sentinel" looking creature actually has a human skull when they zoom in on his face.

Watching a VHS rip is a real shame. This movie really does have some great practical effects that you can admire if you're watching a higher quality version.

Met Jamie Lee Curtis at a Halloween: H20 event in 1998 and, after that, I was on a massive JLC kick. And then this movie was announced and I was stoked for it…never ended up seeing it and still haven’t. I’m kinda proud of that fact. 😅
Fun fact halon is still very much used on US Navy ships especially small boys like cruisers and destroyers. We have to know how to light off the system in the engine rooms if a mass fire casualty breaks out in there.

I haven't watched in a while I enjoyed this movie when I was young Casey's always pretty solid the other guests I was unaware of and I was listening to the audio only to my shop she might be my favorite guest and then when I saw what she looks like I was like holy moly no way super hot and knowledgeable

I always liked this movie. Saw it in theaters and own it on DVD. Although I think Deep Rising is a better boat movie.
I like the comic, but I realy don't like the movie.
Only the big robot-thing in the finale is nice.
To be fair, I do believe it's kinda underrated, just for the threat, though "Moontrap" does this better.
About the ending of "Event Horizon", it's not a cheap jumpscare, they survived in a part of the ship, that is still kinda possesed, the closing door hints at them probably being the next victims.
At least that's how I undersand it.
