    You really hit home with this video Puggy! You are so right. Now I am living in CA, USA, finding these delicious yet simple economic bee hoon, noodles, chow fun plus all these wonderful appetizer snacks are almost non-existent. Even in chinatown or chinese deli, yes you may get some fried rice, fried noodles, porridge but certainly without the luxury of adding these other delicious comfort food like fried chicken, fried tofu, egg rolls, carrot cake, etc. and the generous amount of condiments they can give you without extra charge. Nobody makes kueh here, certainly no soon kueh, nonya dumpling, which is my favorite. AAAhhhhhh, I really miss those days. As vegetarian, I can still eat those delicious comfort foods like fried bee hoon, fried noodles, fried hor fun, love those big chunks of fried tofu, all my favorites...if the soon kueh does not have meat or shrimp, well it will be my ultimate favorite! Thanks for doing this video Puggy, I enjoyed it very much and salivating at the same time. Btw, how do you find the time to make all these hawker center trips to do your videos, are you retired? Appreciate all your efforts...👍😂👏

      It looks so simple and normal right? Such stalls are taken for granted by all many a times over here.. the stall owner was also asking what is there to film? Said it’s all very messy.. just traditional food fare 😅 as for me.. I’m quit from my job and decided to do things I like just to bring some balance to my well being. Also hoping doin videos can help sustain 😋

Oh, have you heard of Victor Veggie? I saw a short video of him published at youtube by his grand child. He is at 79A Circuit Rd, #01-92, Circuit Road Food Center. He has been making his own vegetarian food for 40 years, since age 24. Amazing guy, his satay, otak-otak, etc. look so good, like the real mccoy and they are all vegetarian. Perhaps when you get the chance, please check it out for me and let me know before he retires as he's already a grandpa. Looking forward to watch more of your videos...Elizabeth.

      It’s costly.. It’s probably far away even if there’s a Singaporean so called cafe.. and at the end of it all.. it doesn’t hit the spot. Just some slip shot fried kway teow that we could easily fry at home.. Soo.. I usually just head to Chinatown to satisfy myself with some Hong Kong style beef noodles or fried rice where the Wok Hei is still thankfully present 😅

      Hi Casey 👋🏼 well.. there aren’t many tourists these days. But for the local expats. I do see more and more of them venturing to local Hawker centres. No worries with language.. although many elderly Hawkers may not speak fluent English. They understand basic. Plus there are usually many helpful individuals if you ask for help to translate. Sometimes it’s fun to gamble.. like when I’m in other countries like Japan 🇯🇵 where I don’t understand a word of the menu. Turns out.. there’s always some helpful person around.. or play Russian roulette with whatever is served to you 😅 like some grilled cow intestines that I got

    When you buy dumplings to take out, they should not have removed the wrapping of the dumplings. This will lead to the glutinous rice stick to the paper and not clean enough. Or they may reuse the leaves for further wrapping of the dumplings.

    Hi, just a suggestion, your videos look like videos done by random foreign visitors just visiting hawker centres in Singapore. Maybe add some local values, from local judgements, like "most popular vendor", "top 20 in Singapore" for that dish, etc? As it is, your video just seems to be a walk around video of some of the stalls in each hawker center you visit... Please give us an idea how these stalls rate amongst real Singaporean consumers so we know if we should even go and try. Thanks for your efforts though, but add some value to help to our decision to try them next time, please. Thank you.

    • @Piggypuggy
      @Piggypuggy  3 роки тому

      Haha.. thanks for rightfully pointing it out.. well.. I started this hawker centre thingy to mainly capture and document Hawkers and their trades. Especially to document the older Hawkers coz there were many stalls that just disappeared or retired.. Soo yeah.. I’m not recommending the best stalls to go to.. but in a way.. I do.. coz I will usually showcase those that seems popular there. But I guess.. at the end of the day, we all have varying preferences, so at best, I can only tell if I see a huge line of customers waiting for it. Thanks for writing in your suggestion. Appreciate it 😄

    Hawker food is inexpensive but so much of it is so oily and unhealthy. And the food can sit in those trays for hours.

    • @Piggypuggy
      @Piggypuggy  3 роки тому

      Haha.. such is comfort food to many.. usually the greasier the more it appeals. But you can be sure everything’s fresh from this stall.. food gets snapped up faster than it’s being rolled out. They’re usually sold out by 11am or so..
