  • Great counterattacks and exciting moments on the final colours.
    Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Paul Hunter, 2005-1 Premier League, Group stage.
    Two editions of the tournament were played in 2005 due to changes in the tour calendar, but they correspond to different seasons:
    2005-1 Premier League, Jan-May 2005, season 2004/05
    2005-2 Premier League, Sep-Dec 2005, season 2005/06
    2006 Premier League, Sep-Dec 2006, season 2006/07
    ...
    Tournament format:
    The Premier League group stage was played in a round-robin format. 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw. In the event of a tie, the number of frames won counted. The top four then played best-of-9 matches in the semi-finals and best-of-11 in the final.
    The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.
    Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
    This format is not intended to substitute the full version but rather to make snooker more accessible to new fans. The fluency and atmosphere of the game stay in a shorter length video, allowing even experienced fans to enjoy snooker at any time.

    Still upsets me that we lost Paul Hunter. Was a brilliant, exciting player with a great temperament. Even tho he might have been playing an opponent I supported at the time, I never felt bad if he won. Just an honest, likeable guy. The world is a poorer place without him.

    Hunter was already battling cancer on this day. Few months later his hairstyle had to be like ronnies on this day. Hunter passed away just a year after this match in 2006. Ronnie paid his respects. Maybe the Rocket knew what Hunter was going through. Slipped away 27 years young would ve only been 41 now in 2020

      Agreed he was a great you cannot win three masters titles and not be one heck of a player. But I think Abhishek is engaging in a little bit of hero worship. Ronnie O'Sullivan has won more Triple Crown titles than anyone. He has superseded even Stephen Hendry. So if he could outshine Ronnie on any given day, why no World or UK titles, and why were they tied on head to head matches when he ( Paul) unfortunately passed away?

    • @atiphwyne5609
      @atiphwyne5609 3 роки тому +2

      @peter richmond A truth that some people find hard to acknowledge. I agree with you, if Ronnie can beat Stephen Hendry at the Crucible 17- 4 and I watched that match. Hendry didn't play badly and he wasn't in decline as at the tail end of his career. He just ran into Ronnie at his magical best. Good call.

    It seems as if snooker is a 'game' for some players sometimes, like Acting is a game for some actors, and O'Sullivan has made it his life, which only 1 or 2 actors in the whole world really do in each generation. He has snookered himself into wanting it more than anything else (than, I suppose, his family). It's a kind of sacrifice. a surrender. Maybe there's not a word. J.
