“Yo wing, why are you so clean?”
Haha
It would have been a W if he said that
Only if wing said that in response
That's my reaction
Tbh hardcore is hard to sound clean , and kaji can do something clean house etc, but i think this is not what he wants😂
Bringing hardstyle to beatbox battle was rare to be seen
Wing is an example of how beatboxing doesn't need to be rapid-fire to sound really cool
This is a different rapid fire than combos bro. He literally does hardstyle
D low to thats why he rates it
Kaji the performer.... WinG the artist
Amen 🙏
well said 👍🏼
I agree 👍💯
"Yo Wing, why are you so chill?"
I agree with you man
"I don't give a shit"
It was the coolest exchange of the tournament😂
but did he show whats in his pocket? (was it a gun???)
Why you too chill
suzuran so cute
”Kaji’s beat difficult and he makes his sounds difficult,Wing’s beat difficult but he makes his sounds easily.”
It says it all
Basically mean its way more comfortable listening to wings
What blew the judges' minds were the sheer number of powerful special sounds by Kaji including those kicks. I've never heard such unique textures on kicks from a beatboxer until Kaji. He did something unique.
I was already sold on Wing being one of my favourite beatboxer, but god damn that performance sends him to the top for me
i would have been totally fine either way. i want to relisten to both their parts right now. Kaji is crazy with his sounds and style and i feel like he does the most of any beatboxer to really push what the musical landscape of beatbox is as well as how wild you can take your sound design, he is an absolute treat. Wing is classy AF, super controlled, super fun, and is just an absolute master of groove. i absolutely love hearing the kind of stuff that both of them come up with.
i think at the end of the day this is a very taste oriented battle and a very taste oriented choice
it'd be sick to hear a collab.
Well said Zirm
I agree Zirm
i feel this is a colab already. what they did was a colab in a form of a true battle.
It's like Kenny said in the livestream, "3000 sounds vs 3 sounds"
Yeah but In 2018 Codfish was the guy with 3 sound ! So
@@haldoomo6752 and codfish gave us a musical battle round which wing didn’t !
@@a1j_1how isn’t this a musical round what 😭
@@JustinCram-rk5kc can you read what i said ?i said a musical BATTLE round, wing sounded more like showcase, yall be too fast with replying instead of reading 😭
For example a musical battle round is Codfishs round 2 vs bataco. To be fair to Wing that style is so hard, Codfish is just a master at it. Also Codfish as argueably the best bass ever with how good and developed his throat bass is.
When I heard Kaji in live, the impact was truly amazing. His sound was the roar of a giant.
In contrast, Wing, while certainly clean, was clearly lacking.
Listening back, I can see how great Wing was, but it didn't work live.
people said about Mic difference too, wing is quiter than kaji but i think Mic impact too
Wing so good for showcase, but for the battle Kaji more stronger
Kaji is the hardstyle/frenchcore beatbox fr
The thing is, in the live setting, the messiness of the kaji beats wasn’t as apparently since he was consistently blowing out the sound system, and since he goes through them so fast, it’s hard to keep up with the mistakes. It was just a sight to behold in person and felt like the energy wing brought to the room wasn’t matching kaji’s
100% true. On the other hand, it was difficult to hear all the details from Wing on the live stream. Thats why during the live stream, I thought Kaji should win, but from the video I would also definitely vote Wing.
@ definitely, the intricate beats and clarity from wing deserve and benefit from the post production whereas kaji’s strengths aren’t captured
wing made a strategic mistake here. when kaji is pushing the energy so hard, it’s a lot of waiting for wing to get into his slow grooves. I don’t he successfully changed the vibe with his rounds and kaji controlled the battle.
@@NYNmetal yet those wing beats hit different. This is dlow and look at the reaction of the first wing's beat. That is a "vibe". Not blasting every other 5 sec a new beat.
@@NYNmetal I like that Wing didn't play into the whole "power meta" and just did his stuff without pushing his routines. To me, that was a power move from Wing but in general this year's GBB was so reliant on power; they even removed the limiter this year so obiviously Kaji sounded painfully loud but lost a lot of cleanliness which the judges to my surprise didn't notice at all. Maube due to the things you guys mentioned with the loudness drowning the messy beats from Kaji.
12:22 made me have to go rewatch elisii's legendary click drop. D-low knows this one for sure but it's elisii 2019 gbb elim in case you haven't heard it yet, it's around 2 minute mark.
It feels like going to a hardstyle concert then a chill house music concert and deciding which was better. Too hard xD different genres and difference experience
8:27 that's a reference to Wing's "Plain Jane" I think
Yes!
Oh is that why Kaji was pointing at Wing when he was doing that beat? I haven’t heard plain jane from wing in a while so I didn’t catch the beat lol
@@remnatsuki8792 yeah, Kaji definitely came prepared to face Wing head-to-head
I KNEW ITT +POINT ON THAT I GUESS
Same feel, D-Low, about "Wing's parts" 😂
So much style and aesthetic, Wing is Style and Vibe himself!
Live I could see arguments for both tbh and this also raises an interesting question as to 'would you forgive kaji's uncleaniness for the sake of pioneering hardstyle genre?' Surely in the future someone would find a better way to do it clean and powerful but at the moment Kaji has been the only one to make it work live so this factors in quite a lot for me
When you are saying "someone would find a better way to do it clean" maybe it's just a part of Kaji's evolution ! The next step could be to keep this level of intensity and energy while being more clean and consistant maybe ?
Ive seen i think waali do a really sick hardstyle
ハードスタイル自体クリーンなものでは無い
少なくとも日本では
In Kaji’s second round, the control part was mocking Wing because he did a cover of Plain Jane in like 2017, and Kaji started that cover. I know because I listen to Wing like 3 hours a day, because he is my idol.
What I found really interesting was that of all the beatbox battles I've ever seen, there was the biggest gap between the video and the live performance. When I watched it at the venue, I felt overwhelmingly that it was Kaji, but when I watched the video again, I felt that Wing was better. Anyway, I respect both of them❤
1:49 In the first place, people who jump around and beatbox like this aren't even thinking about doing it cleanly. It's a live show and a battle, so if it was decided by how beautiful it was, everyone would beatbox standing upright. Of course there are exceptions, but in a battle, the winner is the one who gets the audience excited. It's not a competition of how beautiful the technique is. There are props and things like that, which one was better on that day? Was it good? Was it cool? All of these are reflected in the audience's reaction. I don't think you should take the audience's judgment lightly. Of course you can listen to it later and decide which one is better. The people listening at the venue aren't listening to the mixed sound. The judgement for that day was that, and that's the end of it, and it won't be overturned.
The winner is most definitely NOT the one who gets the audience excited, its the one who the judges deem to have beatboxed better on the day. There are so many boxes to tick and so many different aspects to a battle and I think this year's GBB set of judges seemed to lean towards the performative aspect and tech heaviness over things like structure/cleanliness/consistency/musicality/timing. I just can't help but think that SOME of the beatboxers that made it further in the competition were ones whose styles resemble napom's the most, that raw animalistic rough around the edges style that loads you with tech and sounds but lacks in structure and design . All that being said I DO think the battle aspect of it needs to be remembered and there should be some sort of interactive beatboxing going on between the contestants as opposed to taking 2 min from a wildcard/showcase and performing it in a battle .
@@firasali9450and the judges expressions says enough on that day, with the audio production wing sounded miles better then kaji but at the venue or even in the live stream kaji felt like he destroyed wing,i think the problem with wing is on his second round he should’ve gone with battle round after the insanity of kajis second round it would’ve got him the win 100%
Party Clown vs an artist. That's what it was. Messy beat is annoying
Seems like you haven't seen enough reaction videos. Go watch other major reaction videos and see what people say about it😂
@@dmddksi yeah let’s see people who watch an audio prodcuted video talk about battle ,99% of the people that was in the venue said kaji better ,it’s battle not a showcase
Love these reviews especially when you showcase how the sound was done. Lots of beatbox content these days is just empty reactions but it’s always good vibes on your channel
4:02 im legit moaning like crazy when wing does his snare on this, eargasm.

Let’s go. Love starting my day w dlow reaction to gbb now
Probably a win for Wing if this was an online event, but I can only dream of how good Kaji must have sounded live at the venue.
100% with you! Wing's sounds are impressive, clear and massive! Dlow and Wing featuring would be a great project!!!
I think Kaji won because he made the most 'in the moment' rounds, where the energy felt in the moment of the rounds was just superior to wing, thus in the moment, the judges felt that Kaji was better on the stage, although looking now at the full video, wing should have won. But when I was watching the livestream, I gave it to Kaji. When its live and the judges have to make a decision on the spot, Kaji simply felt superior because of the immediate energy, which is why he won.
It also doesnt help that Wing's beatbox was pretty chill(didnt really interact with the crowd) and in contrast, Kaji had the attention of the whole crowd, which contributes to his deserved win at the time.
And just to preface, this is just my opinion.
Definitely
but its messy and not clean
0 beat knowledge
NGL I thought Wing nicked the win even when I was watching the livestream.
Although I must admit Wing is one of my favourite beatboxers, so I'm biased.
Crowd advantage
that's just kaji's thing man, grit hardcore style, it doesn't strive for precision and cleanliness. it's all up in your face, power, loudness. It is a really great thing to have people like him with his own style, I feel like many beatboxers that are coming up are struggling with finding their artistic personality.
his style also seems to be without structure, as messy as possible and just keep spamming stuff
yeah i agree. being clean isn't what hard bass is. just enjoying the rawness of the sound is the tasty part of kaji's sound. but wing's style is about cleaness and more focused on the low notes and his precision with his click rolls.
although i do feel that kaji's performance was perfect in his way, i thought he simply over powered wing to win over him. i feel that their communication and battling strategies were on a parallel line.
@@iamo_san what a load of rubbish. The extent you'd go to defend your fav beatboxer is crazy. Like bro, I've heard hardstyle kaji is immitating . IT IS CLEAN. His imitation of it is not. Are you claiming now that his messy hardstyle is some new type of genre ... bro the glaze is unreal .. he got points and passed just cus he overloaded the sound system and that's it.
@@iamo_sanall the Japanese commenting the same thing lol 😂
I've rooted for Kaji in everything after watching your japan cypher video. Such a unique approach and he goes so hard. I always liked wing too of course before i even heard of kaji. Such crazy battles this year.
You said pretty much every single thought I've had about this battle. Wing's first round beat drop lives in my head rent free.
Kaji is like So-So just in solo beatbox haha love it
The fact that Dlow voted with wing is the best coping. I think Kaji went all out, where wing had and entire elimination plan. I might be wrong but lets wait and see.
Those Wing beats just hit different man.
kaji round 2 was disgusting idk how ppl can vibe to it
@@gangplank8397 Were you there live? Well after rewatching it from swissbeatbox my vote goes to WING, but when you hear it live my vote goes to KAJI because of how powerful he is live and WING didn't match his energy although I wished WING would've countered KAJI someway.
@@gangplank8397thing called preference, for some (like me) Kaji provides excitement and intensity with his round whereas Wing falls short in that department
Idk, one of the judge is actually voting for Wing is he also coping?
@@moedred3901 Should power be the only factor you use to judge a battle? WinG has Kaji beat in every category whether it's musicality, timing, dynamics, structure, phrasing but Kaji was powerful so he wins? As D-Low said WinG makes intricate stuff sound easy which is the biggest praise an artist can get in any field of music cause it shows the amount of work put in and the grasp of the technique by the said artist. But if power and energy is everything in these competitions we won't be seeing any prolific technical battlers in the future just a bunch people making the wierdest sloppy noises with little to no structure during their rounds..
Absolutely astonishing performance by Kaji!
Kaji is doing hardcore techno on a microphone. That's something to be commended. I cant give it to Wing even though I like him more xD
6:53 小島よしお
速すぎだろwww
Wing reminds me of the first time I saw D-low, jaw dropping. Like honestly, the way he is able to make such music and so CLEAN is insane. His musicality is on another level and imo it went harder than Kaji's. No disrespect to Kaji (I think he's also an amazing beatboxer) but it sounded like a poorly produced record where all the sounds are the same volume so it blends into 1, where as Wing's was professionally produced so all the sounds were impactful, purposeful and clean. In saying that, it probably sounded so different live 😂
16:19 Yes, Dan. As a kaji fan and also a casual listener of french hardcore, my decision would go to Kaji (though I’m being rational, I’m not screaming😂). With that said I 100% respect your decision about Wing.
like, his beatbox is supposed to sound that messy! Just stunning. :)
@@alexanderrau6356it’s all preference. I personally think aside from few sounds he uses, which sounds kinda messy, it still helps replicating his choice of genre and translates to his beatboxing style very well. (I.e. hardcore music)
@@markitail0607 So we can see what happen when he later encounters beatboxers with equally powerful but more refined sounds and relatively better-structured routines.
I would go for Wing as well.
Me too, i could'n believe in his defeat
I love how Noob who spam 30 sounds and 3 patterns can beat pro who can utilize 3 sounds to make 300 patterns.😂😂😂
@@Little_deer_Slatan okay mr expert i didn’t see you on the judge panel yet 💀
@@a1j_1 I don't see you either.
@@picklesarechaos well i ain’t the one who’s naming artist on the gbb stage noobs, yall sound mentally challenged sometimes
i would also go for Wing , he is so Musical and clear bro
kaji is more musical
@@Luke.1779?
@ care to elaborate on your question? kinda weird to just post a ? and not say anything
look how much dlow likes wing's first round it's so simple and effective
For me, sonically, Wing's second round felt empty. Smooth and clean as hell, but sonically unfulfilling. His kicks didn't have enough kick, and there was no bass for an entire minute. I felt like his round was just starting when he had 5 seconds left.
That said his first round slapped!
Best content on UA-cam
I think something I really appreciate about Kaji is how he embraces a “dirty” style. Everyone compliments beatboxers like Colaps, FootboxG, and of course Wing on their cleanliness. I’ve never felt the need to compliment a beatboxer on their “dirtiness” 😂 but Kaji does that, it’s like artfully and intentionally distorted in every sound to the point where it sounds like and electronic drum kit with saturation turned to the max and bitrate distortion as well. I never heard another beatboxer go for this sound, and it’s so consistent between his kick, spit snare, throat bass, tongue bass, and even weird inward tongue sound that he ended the round with (I dislike that sound too but still it feels very much in this vain of intentionally distorting and making the sounds more ugly haha)
8:22 actually this part kaji re battle wing style . You guys can search wing - plane jane 👏

15:20 exacttttly, me too, that's why my vote is for wing too. I listened 1st round of wing several times since december. that was amazing.
This is simply a preference of style at this level and more judges liked Kajis style
Wing is the faker of beatbox. SO refined.
lol
Wing’s rhythms are just so good
A Berserker Vs A Rapier battle
That snare wing does its like hollow like a hollow clop and has a kick style punch to it. I wanna learn this sound so bad
I think that’s Kaji’s style and he gave it everything. Also, I believe that he knew it was the only way to win against Wing who is one of the most technical beatboxers in the scene. I give him a lot of respect!
I understand the power factor and stuff but Wing was by far the superior beatboxer in this battle for me. Easy on the ears and he had some hard hitting moments as well. A really good balance which I appreciate way more than just a bunch of sounds being spammed constantly, trying to burst my eardrums..
Yep, but on the live sound it was very different to the video. Live I gave it to Kaji, on video maybe not
Power isnt just a factor, power is THE factor. It's always the most important thing live even if it's in the detriment of everything else
What a friggin mainstream society ahh comment
これはバトルだよ
'I only like pleasant easy listening genres so i think wing won' just say that next time 😴
I honestly think you don´t know the music genre Kaji did in his second round and why it´s so impressive and impactful.
First for a disclaimer I have to state my love for wing and his style. And with that out the way, this battle sort of reminds me of another of my favourite Wing battles.
The battle against Improver from last year. Last year Improver had an amazing first round with distinct beats and Wing was doing his thing. But then Improvers second round started strong but faded out.Wing then had the counterattack of the century and won. This time felt the same but in reverse, Kaji had distinct beats which worked really well even though they weren't clear and Wing had a smooth counterattack. But the second round fucked it all up as this time Wing had a good start but faded out from then.
Doesn't matter what, I still have to praise both of them for such an amazing battle. Wing is always the top G.O.A.T but Kaji battled well. Congratulations to him✨
dude, in my opinion this is totaly for Wings, so clean
Wing during the first beat is just "AURA"
The last secound cut in the vid ending love it xD😊
Wing and codfish are very much alike
AGREED, I love wing's style so much, it's so clean af
Rewatched wings first round 5 times, he got me sweatin' like crazy
D-low should have judged this comp
fr
I agree
stitch and den talked about how this sound system was DRY. like VERY DRY. so a lot of details were basically deleted live, which means that the most decisive factor would be volume. if you cant hear complexity and clean beats you need to hear new sounds and power.
the crowd and the judges felt Wing very weak in comparison to Kaji
Yea wing was cooked by the audio
このバトルはkajiの力強いビートとwingの軽やかなビート、どちらに観客が乗っかるかなーと思ってたけど見事にkajiが掴み取ったね。
wing control is craaaaaazy broo damn
最初聞いた時はkajiの圧勝だと思ったけど、聞けば聞くほどwingの良さを感じられてすこ
The thing is, no one does beatbox hardcore music. Kaji is unique because he's the ONLY one doing it (properly) I'm a "Gabber" myself so I might be bias but if you see Kaji's structure it makes so much sense, the kicks, the breaks, the evolutions, I don't think he's just more powerful, but hes powerful because he's being true to the GENRE. For me he takes this one too. Wing is AMAZING tho, one of the cleanest.
true!
Yup this is true. it’s a shame because wing was so good but kaji brought something new
Just becaues Kaji is the only beatboxer doing hardstyle doesn't mean he's more deserving of a win based on the genre alone. If i were to compete and did jearsey which is a fairly new genre in beatboxing but i was too messy, would i have an advantage? No, absolutely not. And Kaji is not even the only beatboxer using the nose bass. Kenozen is way cleaner with it and is the inspiration of Kaji. I disagree, this was a clear win for Wing and if you don't agree with me, replay Wing's rounds and really think about it if you were to perform that consistently. Wing's sound palette is very matured and that makes a huge difference on stage whereas Kaji still has a lot of training to do.
@@emilflarsen2 Not because he is the only one doing hardcore, but he is UNIQUE because he does it and in the way he does it. Absolutely no one sounds like him. Also, the structure is very good. Ok, he is a bit messy but he showed/is showing great improvement and for me, and probably for the judges too, his IDEAS that were not executed in the cleanest way are more valuable than Wing's
@@emilflarsen2Kaji elevated the kenozen bass and is casually doing doubles and triplets lol
Dlow would make so good counters on stage
Tbh me to, i vote wing. So perfect execution. Best pitch and groovy beat. Its true it is not hard drop or whatever like that. But idk, i just love how Wing do beatbox.
I love how D-low excited and enjoy when WinG's round 😂
7:46 so, this absolutely doesnt translate well over recording, kaji did this round against remix during beatland and even then, people were like "remix should've won that easy". I was on that boat, until i heard the live recording. This is, unequivocally, the LOUDEST single sound I have heard on stage live in my 6 years in this community. Bro i love this battle so much 😭
And? Give him the loudness award, since when has beatbox become a loudness competition?
@@legendarymortarplayer9453 No like wing defintely shouldve won this because of how clean he is, but kaji's the only beatboxer i have seen with an extremely clean disparity between how he sounds live vs recorded. He's just so loud that it basically covers up his mistakes live, Hence why the judges voted for him. If you can, try to find a recording of the beatland kaji vs remix battle (a live recording and the official one) and you'll see what im talking about.
@@legendarymortarplayer9453for this specific beat it was kaji's artistic decision to be as loud as possible, at least this is what I guess his thought process was. I absolutely understand if someone doesn't like it.
But I think it's really important to mention that Kaji is pushing boundaries with his style and sound design. It takes braveness and confidence to do that. And for that he has my respect🔥
@@maniac_zulu6401which confidence does it take to spit in the mic? I can do that as well ,by this year gbb standards i would've annihilated everyone
@@legendarymortarplayer9453He's not just louder man. From what I understand you just are not used to hardcore music. If you listen to it a bit you'll understand what Kaji is doing and appreciate it more
on live kaji was insane and surprising so it was hard to feel wings rounds even on the live stream mostly everyone thought kaji would win i was hoping wing to go through the final but maybe he didn’t prepare well ,the more i hear this battle the more i feel like kaji out shadowed wing even tho he wasn’t clean
its easy to say they 'didnt prepare well' after they lose, I think wings rounds were thought-out and prepared well he just had a tough opponent on a tough sound system. kaji is brutal to battle
this is what i am waiting for!!!!
le premier round de wing c'est une masterclass y'a rien à dire .
The battle was top notch. I like both a lot, but wing's first round pretty much settled it for me. I came here to see what Dlow thinks and he was vibing the same way I did.
Wing's routine reminds me of Codfish's "You can do anything" routine but more slower and modern. Bringing me nostalgia, lol.
i replayed wing's part almost 1000000
Kaji so hardstyle so good man... 🔥 🔥 🔥
I think one unfrotunate thing about battles is that they are less likely to reward artistry. It seems like judges often lean in favour of power, and moments. Wing's routines were so enjoyable to listen to.
kaji showcased a higher level of artistry
Kaji cooked, ate and left no crumbs in Round 2. He sounded a bit unclean in a few drops but he won the energy of the crowd and the judges were going crazy.
But wing sounded better
@AlmightyAnt300 No doubt in that, but judges clearly showed that they prefer heavy drops and power over polished beats and structured routines
We need you battling on the stage one More Time goat ❤
Power v Clarity
I like your energy and your speaking voice is warm and best friend like....hugs from Los Angeles
kaji winning gave us another battle which is my fav battle of any bbx battle that i've heard so i'm happy with the result, although i love wings style, he actually bbx's music genres i like irl
YEAH You understand me, for me wing wins because he makes he's sounds so clean it's fuckin increidble
Always been a fan of wing, he makes everything so damn easy and good sounding... When I try, that shi is really difficult to bring out as clean as him
I would have voted Wing based on this audio. The sheer polish and intentionality makes it so much more memorable than Kaji’s “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” approach.
I don’t like Kaji’s sound based on this performance for personal preference. He showed off a lot; but honestly? I credit Wing for not rising to the bait. He had a plan and he stuck to it, pulled it off flawlessly. It’s disappointing that it wasn’t rewarded.
And is it just me, or is Napom easily impressed as a judge? He seems to have a tendency to go for quantity and decibels over more polished, clean, limited rounds.
It's crazy to me how Wing didn't win. His control was incredible and that first round felt so powerful
You cant be wrong for two reasons,
1 - You give your personnal opinion and preference
2 - You are the goat you are always right
i want wing's first round on spotify asap xddxxdx
Best moment of the day
Yeah I agree with you Dlow. I don't mind kaji getting through as I trust the judges, and it's fine for some years to favor different things, but it might be nice if we all agreed beforehand what the criteria is.
wing is the real true chill guy, no doubt about it
8:21〜 This build up is a routine of Wing
I know nothing about beatboxing...but I do enjoy watching it and your reaction.
Even though I vote for wing but that second round from kaji fr me is the moment where I knew kaji already winning. Everyone still thinks bout wing's first round n kaji literally gives no time to let it slide. He overtook that round straight from the moment he started his Round.
Wing for me is just the best now, so insanely clean and versatile and musical.
I love Wing style, I think he deserve be the champion.
