for a lot of viet foods like cha gio (the eggroll/spring roll) and banh xeo (the pancake thing) it's usually eaten wrapped with lettuce and a lot of mints and veggies and dipped into the sauce, haha so that's why they gave you a lot of veg. It's pretty similar to korean ssams

Aww man u should've tried chè for dessert, especially when you were in Đà Nẵng. That place so popular for good chè. Chè is like a sweet soup that has so many variations and we eat it with crushed ice, it is so refreshing those hot summer days.
The noodles that you got with thin pork slices and crunchy bits on top is called Cao lau. It’s a Hoi An specialty. So good! I didn’t get to spend time in Da Nang, there’s supposed to be the best avocado I’ve cream from a market there.

I would definitely try to go to Phu Quoc. Seriously the prettiest beaches and the food was amazing! I went to 4 different cities and that island was my favorite. You’ll have a great time anywhere though! Have fun!!!
I'm a Vietnamese in Hanoi and I must say that Da Nang holds a special place in my heart. I've been there like 5 6 times already and i cannot get enough of it :v;. The food is good, accomodation is top tier, people are nice, etc. tbh you can go to any random food stall orr restaurant there and will always receive like godly food lol

Btw the name "banh cuon" doesn't refer to the entire dish, it specifically refers to the rolled rice sheets you eat, the other components are just accompaniments that make the dish more flavourful
Growing up i’d actually refer to this dish as “bánh ướt”. Like you said, “bánh cuốn” is the rolled rice sheet, and this version is just like a cousin of “bánh cuốn” without the rolling other ingredients inside the rice sheet

Hi Log. Regarding Bánh cuốn (rolled with meat and cloud ear fungus) was the one you ate in Hanoi. The ones you ordered delivery (without rolled meat) called "Bánh ướt".

It seems like you had great seafood. For noodles, I recommend going where the local people are. Hiring a local food person or asking for advice from your hotel front desk is best.

12:20 we call that "chả bò", it is something look like beef roll but we usually wrap it with banana leaf and steam. Some time we use it as toping. 👀
