    Functioning Reed Switch: the reed switch is an electrical switch operated by an magnetic field. It consists of a pair of ferromagnetic flexible metal reeds contacts in a hermetically sealed glass envelope. The contacts are usually open, closing when a magnetic field is present, or they may be normally closed and open when a magnetic field is applied. The switch may be actuated by an electromagnetic coil, making a reed relay or by bringing a permanent magnet near the switch. When the magnetic field is removed, the reeds in the reed switch return to their original position.

    The reed switch is a switch that is turned on/off from a magnet. It is turning on and off the DC circuit every time a magnet passes by causing it to spin faster and faster until the battery is drained from the electromagnetic field.

    Hi man, can you please tell me that the spinner moves very fast like the reed switch dont need to setup in the project because the spinner moves fast it might take minimum 8-10 rounds in 1second. so the reed switch is just connects the circuit right ? Then why dont just directly connect the circuit without the reed switch so the circuit don't need to on or off multiple times in one second causing the battery to drain quickly please answer me

    • @ElectricExperimentsRobert33
      @ElectricExperimentsRobert33  6 років тому

      The switch interrupts and connects the current at the right time.

    • @gilbertaldape6875
      @gilbertaldape6875 6 років тому

      The Reed switch is activated (turned on) every time is in the proximity of a magnetic field, allowing to synchronize the passage of current at that moment. As the magnetic field moves away, the switch deactivates (turns off) until another magnetic field appears in its proximity.The difficult part is to find the optimal position of the Reed switch, relative to the spinning magnets. Usually that optimum spot makes 90 degrees among the rotation axis, the magnet and the switch.Watch "Fidget Spinner Brushless Motor" Parts 1 and 2.

    • @jderr557
      @jderr557 6 років тому

      Inside an NO (Normally Off) reed switch, two wires are very close to each other but not touching. In the presence of a magnetic field, the wires touch each other and the circuit is completed. In this way, as the rotating magnets get close to the reed switch, the wires inside the switch make contact, current flows through the copper coil creating a magnetic field which, in turn, gives a push or pull to the magnets on the spinner. The very small reed switch is enclosed in a tiny glass case, and it has a wire coming out of each end of the switch. Be very careful when bending or handling the wires on the reed switch because it's very easy to break the glass case. Usually, the technique is to use long nose or needle nose pliers to hold the wire where it comes out of the reed switch, and then bend the end of the wire however you might need to. If you hold the reed switch while bending the wire, you'll break the glass case. You want current flowing through the copper coil only at the right time, as each magnet approaches the coil, and only for an instant. The reed switch is just a simple on-off device for completing a circuit only in a magnetic field. As soon as the magnets on the spinner go past the reed switch, the switch opens and current stops flowing.

    • @harrisjohann
      @harrisjohann 6 років тому

      I think if you could amplify the dynamo output and power the coils, it might work.. but heat might be a problem

    • @thelastorca
      @thelastorca 5 років тому

      As far as I know, dynamo draws energy from the kinetic energy of the spinning object. It would slow down the spinner and finally stop it. This is because of the wastage of energy which goes out of your system because of wind and heat. So, the more closed your system is, longer the spinner runs. At an absolute 0 energy wastage, your spinner will spin forever.

    • @ElectricExperimentsRobert33
      @ElectricExperimentsRobert33  5 років тому +7

      The reed switch is an electrical switch operated by an magnetic field.

    Will add to my make it list. Until then, a curious mind would like to know how long the battery will last? I made a homopolar motor and the battery lasts about 6 minutes of continuous spin. Thanks.
