Yeah I don't want a PC case without external drive bays. That's bull pucky. I know you have to go out of your way to find cases with external drive bays today too. It was bad the last time I built a PC 4 years ago. I had to use a new old stock case I found. Danged thing didn't even have USB 3 ports. So I had to add those myself.
I might be misunderstanding something; I thought "Minimum framerate" was the lowest framerate hit during the benchmark run, and the 1% and 0.1% rates were averaging that percentage of lowest values to show a "consistent" low range and eliminate a dramatic dip outlier. All of these "Minimums" are higher than the 1% and 0.1% averages.
Can you test it on one of your older systems without Gen4 or REBAR support? The price point for these cards puts them in a category to be a good choice to upgrade older PC's like old Optiplex or older parts you have laying around. The issue is that while the price puts them in that 'revitalize old parts' category, they require features that older hardware won't support like PCI Generation or Resizable Bar. It would be nice to know how this would perform in an older system like a 4th Gen or even older. Great video as always.

I recently got a low profile arc 380 for a 12 year old Ivy Bridge computer I had lying around and I wanted to use primarily as an emulator machine in the living room, the card costed me about 150 bucks. I went and installed Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 for the lulz to see if it could even run those and I got impressed they not only run well but at a very good framerate at mid settings.
It a good card for the money the only reason I haven't used it in any build is because I have a deal with a guy in China for 1080ti cards that cost me under $60 a pop with a minimum order of 5.
As a basic entry level card, this doesn't seem too bad. However, I did notice the 64-bit memory bus and the PCIe 4.0 x8 limitations, so you'd really want to be using this in PCIe 4.0 systems, and not as an upgrade from an older GPU in a PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 system. Pretty sure the RX 5500 is the best budget card for PCIe 3.0 systems, as it beat the RX 6500 (as well as possibly anything low end with restrictive memory bus widths).
check all the videos card that are part of the RX 5000 lineup because sometimes the prices are the same across all the cards which make no sense but sometimes its like that

I almost bought an A310 ECO for one of my systems recently, but decided against it (already have a few gaming systems much more powerful, and the computer in question isn't a gaming system). Now I kick myself, because your video lit that fire for me again, but they are out of stock. I am sure when the are back in stock, I will splurge and get one.
I got the low profile version ARC Eco A310 just for the AV1 encoder in a OptiPlex 7060 Small Form Factor. It's a bit loud but works great for my needs, Halo Infinite it struggles at low settings.
To paraphrase a famous Star Trek line "Tough little card!" It's amazing such a card can get such good FPS in RDR2 of all games which is one of the most demanding titles in the last century (not including Crysis 😂 or Cyberpunk😮)
I think the requirement of ReBAR is the nail in the coffin for this card. A 1050 ti is also a 75w card of similar if not better performance in gaming that requires no ReBAR, additionally it can be found on the used market for cheaper. I think it sucks that older workstation boards with socket 2011v3 can't effectively use these cards even with above 4G decoding.
Okay, but, what about AV1 encoding?... The whole point of getting this card is just AV1. I also wonder if this card being installed on a PC without support for ReBAR will have an impact on encoding performance.
This card maybe useful in PC troubleshooting since it doesn't tax the PSU much or you may not have the PCIE cables ( modular PSUs need their original cables to work safely )
Excellent card for transcoding duty with jellyfin or plex in a server... there's even a low profile single slot version of the A310 (also from sparkle)
There is one thing which Intel destroyed all competition with their GPUs. The looks department. IMO they are the most beautiful cards. Pity about the drivers and the requirement for BAR and problems with old titles.
Nothing worse than folks griping about performance something they are using wasn't designed for. This card is designed to be a discreet addon with more power than an onboard gpu, with slight nods to light gaming use. If you are going to be running non optimized AAA titles then you need to aim higher in the lineup to have a good experience. I have the Sparkle Titan A770 and it runs everything really well, very surprised and for it's $300 price tag and 16gb Vram it was running neck and neck with a 4070 in many scenarios, 4070 is still better but $200 - $300 more.

I got one of these for my jellyfin media server as a transcoding card and my god does it slay at that without even needing me to upgrade the PSU in my 4u logysis chassis.
Also should mention im not even getting all this card has to offer out of it since my media server is built with relatively ancient hardware without resizable bar support and pcie gen 2 (my media server is a AMD FX system from over a decade ago)
out of interest did you edit this video using the Arc card as saw at least 3 media offline davinci messages flash up. love watching your videos btw.
I do have disk drive too, no need to feel ashamed :D
2 disk drives, and a floppy. I still have the OG Doom demo floppy from PCGamer. I only watch movies I buy on disk, sorry publishers, but I'm not paying full price for 0s and 1s that you can take away at any time after taking my money.
I found that the low preset in Witcher 3 actually sucks because it turns reflections to high and uses resolution scaling with no AA. turning reflections to low increases fps by ~25 and using FSR on balanced and having the separate resolution scaling option off gets me to 60+, i'm using an older card but with the right settings it should perform about the same if not better
the shirt tug gag was great 🤣
A 30 watt QSV capable beast would absolutely be worth it if I didn't already have a couple of mini PC's doing the same chores.
I actually really like those old pc brands like powercolor colorful and sparkle.
i have one too. very usefull even today. i use it to make hard copies of photos to DVD for backup purposes. if i upload to the cloud it would probably float away!
0:51 I went out of my way to buy a PC case that actually has multiple 5.25in front mounting slots, for DVD drive capabilities. Hence, I have dual Blu-Ray drives in my PC. :)
You should add No Man's Sky they're still updating the game and it still pushes modern cards pretty hard especially with the addition of multi-player
I love my DVD disc drive..
Disk Drive PC here!
0:51 i do since my pc is from 2010
and i do burn windows discs every now and then for computers that don't support usb booting
I might be misunderstanding something; I thought "Minimum framerate" was the lowest framerate hit during the benchmark run, and the 1% and 0.1% rates were averaging that percentage of lowest values to show a "consistent" low range and eliminate a dramatic dip outlier. All of these "Minimums" are higher than the 1% and 0.1% averages.
given how low end Nvidia cards in the past with 3s and 1s in their name performed, it certainly was better than I expected.
That performance in 38.1 W of power is incredibly efficient.
I just installed command and conquer the first decade
Through my blu ray drive last week
A retest of the A380 would be interesting with the latest drivers.
everyone is looking forward to the new 5090 but how many of us are going to be able to buy one!? love this looking at the lower end
I got an Arc a380 for my little emulation pc. It works great for that purpose! Playing midnight club 3 right now
Can you test it on one of your older systems without Gen4 or REBAR support? The price point for these cards puts them in a category to be a good choice to upgrade older PC's like old Optiplex or older parts you have laying around. The issue is that while the price puts them in that 'revitalize old parts' category, they require features that older hardware won't support like PCI Generation or Resizable Bar. It would be nice to know how this would perform in an older system like a 4th Gen or even older.
Great video as always.
😊 avoid at all costs, it runs really bad and really slow, feels like a ddr3 or ddr4 vram card, dont do it
@@MrSamadolfo thanks for the tip.. I actually wasn't going to, for $100 USD I can get something better on the used market. I appreciate the feedback though, thank you!
@@darthllama1 Your Welcome =D
Prise wise, the A310 competes with the GT 1030 and RX 550
The A380 with the GT 1030 and RX 6400
The A580 with the RTX 3050 and RX 6500 XT
The A750 with the RX 3050, 2060 and RX 6650 XT
And the A770 with the RTX 3060, 4060 and RTX 7600 XT
And that is just for new cards, used options are obviously available.
@@HappyBeezerStudios 😊 have you noticed that we secretly now have a 6500 XT 8GB that nobody is talking about
I recently got a low profile arc 380 for a 12 year old Ivy Bridge computer I had lying around and I wanted to use primarily as an emulator machine in the living room, the card costed me about 150 bucks.
I still have a large CD collection which I can listen to and rip for free. Blu Ray/DVD too. It will be a while before I give up my optical drives.
Pretty sure the RX 5500 is the best budget card for PCIe 3.0 systems, as it beat the RX 6500 (as well as possibly anything low end with restrictive memory bus widths).
check all the videos card that are part of the RX 5000 lineup because sometimes the prices are the same across all the cards which make no sense but sometimes its like that
Great video!
Why do you have several computers?
don't buy an a310, get the a380 its way better for like $10 more, buying 4GB cards contributes to eWaste which sucks
This is also one of the cheapest cards you can get new with 4 digital display outputs while not needing additional power.
The Helldivers results were good as it means it is perfectly usable for the game.
Processor 300 + Intel a310 video? Would be interesting!
It’s a good card for office use and light gaming on the side.
Excellent card for transcoding duty with jellyfin or plex in a server... there's even a low profile single slot version of the A310 (also from sparkle)
Sparkle? That takes me back! Not seen that brand in years
Be alright for watching vids and streaming .
not everyone plays games , so it could be just the job .Great vid .
Got one of these for a Dell Optiplex 5060. No complaints.
Seems like Intel have worked hard in the drivers as I remember seeing some horrific performance videos on the Intel cards a few years back.
I feel like 120£ is asking a lot for the experience and performance that you get. The US pricing is more fitting.
0:55 - got me smiling
Every time you say 'Sparkle' I'm reminded of when Bart Simpson got an earring.
bro i've been watching you for so many years and you still look like a kid to me lol
😏 he's got a Fountain of Youth in the backyard
Been thinking I may lean to an Intel Arc A770 in my next GPU upgrade.
"Who even has a disc drive?"
Me, sweating with my beige box and ASUS QuiTrack lightscribe enabled multiburner...
I am using 1 of these as a display adapter. Works fine for putting Win11 onscreen.
Biggest issue with the A310 is that the A380 is usually the same price or even cheaper - Making the A310 a bit redundant in a lot of cases
Why doesn’t UA-cam recommend you to me anymore 😢
Omg Sparkle are still a thing? Last time i heard of them was when i had a 9500GT.
Optical drive army unite!
