It was an honor to work with Chuck. PE was my favorite hiphop group of all time. Making music and sharing the stage with him and the other brothers was altogether an amazing experience.
Could you speak on how Xplosion happened with OutKast? They rarely do features outside of dungeon fam (you and Raekwon, for example), was it because they wanted an east coast mc and a west coast mc? Feel there had to be more to it than that. (Double XL, you’re a size too small! lol)
I saw cypress hill followed by rage against the machine live one afternoon in 1996. I have been to alot of shows in my life but that day was fucking awsome..
Very underrated album, that took years to comprise. Muggs was releasing pre-released clips from that album when he was making Die antwoords album. A lot of those songs on EoA did not start out sounding the way the ended up, and some of B and Sens versus were re-done. Heres hoping they drop an Unreleased and Re-Vamped part 2 project!
Seen Prophets in Inglewood!! Such a great show. Awolnation opened. Then the other show with Chris Cornell. Prophets of Rage plays the best In your Face music.
Yo B-Real, you forgot Unreleased & Revamped'! How can that be forgotten? Boom Biddy Bye Bye (Fugees Remix), Throw Your Hands In The Hands (ft. Erick Sermon, Redman & MC Eiht), Whatta Ya Know, etc. That Call O Da Wild track was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
B Real forgot to mention that at the end of that 8 album contract, the sliding scale was in the favor of the group by then. They were basically getting almost 100% of the profit from those last 2 of the 8 albums. Pretty sure they were getting all the profits from the albums after that and just paid for maybe the production or distribution. Great job B Real! That’s how you milk those labels! Youngins these days won’t ever get the chance to profit off of labels they way B Real did because of the way the current contracts are structured. These days labels basically own the artists and their likeness. They get a percentage of all sales involving that artist including sales of items that have the likeness or logo of the artist. Then tack on how music doesn’t sell like it used to. This makes the items sold outside of music more lucrative to these labels. They also know that if the artist does not sell a certain amount of music units, they are not fully fulfilling their contractual obligations. This holds many current artists in their contract. Then add on the fact that many artists are signed to a label, that’s signed to a label, that’s also signed to a label. This now cuts down most profits for the artists. They pay out so much that in the end they are left with pennies on the dollar per unit sold. Artists these days would have to literally work like a slave to recoup some of the same procedes and to gain the same outcome that B Real did!
blahzay just passing on the vital information I learned along the way. Hopefully it helps you and others stay away from those horrible contracts! My greatest recommendation is to have ANY contract given to you read over by an Entertainment attorney that you seek out! NEVER use an attorney offered to you by a label. That attorney offered to you by the label usually works hand and hand with the label and only has the label’s best interest at heart! Good luck and wish you all the best!
love one probably was after or before their first album. He surely would not have said it after their 8th album! Also no one knows what his percentage of the deal was. Producers get a cut but not as large as those that own the publishing rights. Publishing gives the greatest pay out of all. Group members get a cut, but no one knows what they agreed the split would be amongst the members. In the end if Muggs wasn’t happy he can only blame himself. He stepped into that agreement and signed the contract.
@@DJXcalibur Muggs was talking about '92 to 96 i think.Cypress had few hits but it wasn't enough. After their 8th albums the situation is different i agree
Let's be rea(B-Real)l, Prophets of Rage was a good idea. The band sounded great like always. But Chuck D and B-Real just didn't have the right voice to sing Rage songs. Zack had a very unique voice meant for those songs. But we did need the Rage message now more than ever, so props to all of them for spreading the message again the best they could.
Zach De La Roca and Be Real in a group has the potential for like next level vibration. I love chuck but I’d rather see another MC stand in his place with them.
Come on anybody who knows a lot about a wide variety of music from different areas already knows that the original Prophets Of Rage are from the Bay Area and the were wayyy doper then this group could ever be . They had some deep lyrics with powerful meanings behind their songs. Look them up if you don’t believe. I can’t believe Vlad didn’t mention it to him
Now I’m curious to watch old interviews and pay attention to that and see if that’s the case. I know Glad is a big fan so he might have been fanboying a bit.
