Yes, they fought back in the club like CRAZY. They also were breakdancing in the clubs back then. Dj''s huh. You need to look up qbert. BEST dj in the world since the late 80's and still NO ONE better.

Do people call races and real fast but us people in New York we all got along and hung out I don't know what happened to that love this was the joint in 1996 and the story this was live
I ain't gonna lie. Born in the 70s, and we had some great clubs back in the day. We even had a couple teen clubs with no alcohol just for dancing. The whole violence for stepping on shoes thing didn't come until later.
Right? About the mid 80s the nonsense picked up -- I grew up poor, Caucasian , in Southern California, and in a C-hood. Before the mid 80s, if you showed respect there was no problems. But I still love my upbringing; I'm 57 now, still kicking. 😂😂😂
Damn Boogie, You said something there....Gen-X seen Prime Michael(Jackson, Jordan and Tyson), Prince, Wayne Grezsky(Hockey), Magic vs Bird, Biggie and Pac, Hulk Hogan, Rick Flair, The Road Warriors, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Degeneration - X and The Rock...we saw The Space Shuttle Xplode, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Voltron, Muppet Babies(lol), experienced the first screenings of Star Wars, Flash Gordon and Rocky(I'm pushing it with that one, but definitely Rocky 3), Vanessa Del Rio, Jeanie Pepper, Angel Kelly, Janet Jacme and the girls, The A Team, Buck Rogers, Fantasy Island and Nickelodeon(Mr. Wizard, You Can't Do That On Television, The Third Eye....), The original Degrassi Jr. High, The Brat Pack, John Hughes movies, Spike Lee movies and definitely the birth and growth(and exploitation) of Hip Hop.
Bahama Bay in Philadelphia was the place to be in the 90’s. Club Egypt, Shampoo, and DECO also kept it going…. I’ll never forget New Year’s Eve. 4 AM in 1999 dancing in between a guy in a tux with his girl in a ball gown and a dude to the left of me wearing a Union Jack 🇬🇧 shirt with a gorilla fur vest!!!!

I remember that nobody had a studio version of this song and now I know why. It was such a dope song but the recording quality was bad and he keeps talking to the sound guy during it. They should’ve done a studio recording.
I was born in '78 so I got to witness ALL the good shit and when this dropped... there was nothing better. Damn right it was the best time for music. 💜🤘
@MaestroFoden it's so sad to me that rap and hip-hop turned filthy and fake. Like the young ones don't have great music coming from their generation. Maybe 10% of their music has potential or is just great from the start.
@joshuatmanion8010 people don't know they shot that video backward and played it in reverse. Dudes had to memorize all the lyrics, speaking them backward in order for it to work... 😄😄 crazy talent!!!
This came very close to being another rap anthem. Don't sleep on it, there are two versions of this song. This is the old school version. There is the Klassic Kool version also.
Booggidy Wooggidy. Gen X'er checkin' in young buck. I am a HUGE fan of your channel. You bring back a lot of memories for me when I was break dancing on a cardboard box with my boys. Man, this reaction had me turned ALL the way up. Keep up the great work my brother. ✊🏿👍🏿
One of the reasons why you are enjoying GenX music so much is because GenX artists were storytellers and being from New York, back in the 1980's; after 12:00 midnight Saturday night, there was an underground Hip Hop/Rap radio program that used to do a "Hit It" or "Diss It" for a few tracks, let a few wannabe rappers get graded on their freestyle skills and listen to samples of what was coming out in the next 3 weeks.
Gen Xer here... yes!! Love the songs that got us together and had fun! I love dancing the night away with everyone! I love it when you run the videos back because I know that you're appreciating and enjoying the videos as well! Wait until you get to the female rappers!!
Mid 80s to 90s was lit 🔥🔥🔥🎶💃🏽! Appreciate you for recognizing. Its a pleasure to watch you experiencing our soundtrack😁. Blessings to you young brother 🙏🏽 This year has Resurrected (Tupac pun intended) my hip hop heart; don't give up on it.
My Toyfriend of 9yrs is 33 and I'm 55. I'm enjoying your reactions because I've been through this with him already!🤣😂🥰 Trust my recommendations, PLEASE!!
Welcome to some classic Hip Hop. It's always great to see the oldies getting "discovered" by the younger generations. The 90s were the best time for music.
Dude this song was so popular in the late 90s that even my buddies who were not into hip-hop and always listening to Dave Matthews Band and Sublime, they loved this song and would turn up whenever it came on
I grew top in DC area most of my life and DJ Kool was local there - considered one of the greatest and unfortunately lesser known DJs of the era. But every week on 95.5 fm he would "cut it up" with the absolute best mixes I've ever heard. The GOAT.
I was on government travel in VA when this was out but it hadn’t hit my area yet. I bought the CD single from somewhere up there before I left, came back home and turned them out!
"Make HipHop great again!" ... When you said that, you meant it! I feel ya man, I'm an 80's kid and those def were the best times. No cell phones that people had their faces buried in, no internet to be wasting time on, no crap... And you had to be ORIGINAL and CREATIVE to come with the goods. I was mainly into rock and hiphop and each and every MC and/or group back then was totally unique and had their own thing rocking. And you had to have skills to make it in those days. It was so much fun just jamming to all the different peeps back then. Your reaction got me thinking about all he peeps I grew up on. Here's some I grew up with (check out the ones you haven't yet) : Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, RUN-DMC, Steady B, Public Enemy, MC Lyte, Audio Two (MC Lyte's brothers), Fat Boys, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, House Of Pain, Eric B. & Rakim, Kool G Rap, Special Ed, Masta Ace, KRS-ONE, BDP, EPMD, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Black Sheep, MC Shan, Poor Righteous Teachers, Brand Nubian, 3rd Bass, KMD (Zev Love X from this group later became MF Doom), Ice-T, NWA, Ice Cube, Eazy E, Dr Dre, Too Short, 2 Live Crew, Digital Underground, Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, Gang Starr, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Stetsasonic, Ultramagnetic MCs, Wu-Tang Clan, Nas...... C'mon man!
Digging the reaction man. DJ Kool is from my hometown Washington DC. He's a DC legend. One of the first to mix rap with DC Go-Go music. He got another banger called "The music ain't loud enough.
I always liked the song by him name Pressed Against The Glass. Tell he gotta do “I’m Getting Ready” by Dougie with the greatest band too ever exists RE.
Glad you liked it, man! Makes me feel good seeing young people discover great music, from any era, and the 90s really was peak in many ways. This was not the first performance of this song; the original first performance from Bahama Bay is great, and also worth watching. A little trivia: I saw a recent reel with DJ Kool talking about the origin of "let me clear my throat": it was something he borrowed from the Beastie Boys (from "The New Style"). 😄 ua-cam.com/users/shortsHm3Gp5KTN-w The horn fanfare at the beginning is sampled from "Hollywood Swinging" by Kool and the Gang (1974); the drum/sax loop is a slowed-down sample from "Unwind Yourself" by Marva Whitney (1968).
best era for sure. we were driving around with two 12" subwoofers in the trunk, all the windows down, license plate rattling, blasting this mess thinking we were the coolest
That was another great reaction and that was a really good song and you have two of the masters of beatboxing may they’re literally the Kings of beatboxing Dougie Fresh and Biz Markie and you might have seen them before if you’re ever seen the second men in Black movie he had a small little role in the beginning of the moviewith Will Smith Bismarck was doing a little beatboxing with Will Smith
We really did have the best, most fun music in all genres! I’m so lucky I was a teen in the 90s. It was a blast! I’m so happy to see you discovering all this good music! 🥰
Wow! Thanks for reconnecting my memory. Biz Markie is a must. Having read some of the comments, you have lots of homework. As I also just watched your House of Pain reaction, note the origin of "Jump" right here with DJ Kool.
Another good party song was by a group called kid and Play. The song is called getting funky and the guy who jumped over his own leg got that move from them.
This was a certified club banger for years! We tried to tell you that Doug E. Fresh was a stellar talent. For your Biz intro, I recommend The Vapors, young fella.

I ain't gonna lie. Born in the 70s, and we had some great clubs back in the day. We even had a couple teen clubs with no alcohol just for dancing. The whole violence for stepping on shoes thing didn't come until later.
Those teen dance clubs were fire in the late 80's early 90's. At least that is when they showed up in my home town.
Teen clubs and roller skate rinks every summer were so much fun. Just dancin' and partyin'.
Right? About the mid 80s the nonsense picked up -- I grew up poor, Caucasian , in Southern California, and in a C-hood. Before the mid 80s, if you showed respect there was no problems. But I still love my upbringing; I'm 57 now, still kicking. 😂😂😂
