Lemonade is the sixth studio album by American singer Beyoncé. It was released on April 23, 2016, by Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, accompanied by a 65-minute film of the same title. It follows her self-titled fifth studio album (2013), and is a concept album with a song cycle that relates Beyoncé's emotional journey after her husband's infidelity in a generational and racial context. Primarily an R&B and art pop album, Lemonade encompasses a variety of genres, including reggae, blues, rock, hip hop, soul, funk, Americana, country, gospel, electronic, and trap. It features guest vocals from James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, the Weeknd, and Jack White, and contains samples and interpolations of a number of hip hop and rock songs.
Lemonade was released to widespread critical acclaim and is considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time. The album was music critics' top album of 2016, and was named the greatest album of the 2010s by publications such as the Associated Press. In 2020, the album was placed at number 32 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. The album was nominated for nine Grammy Awards at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards (2017), including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It won Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video. The album's visuals received 11 nominations at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, of which it won eight including Breakthrough Long Form Video and Video of the Year. The film also received four nominations at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards. The album won a Peabody Award in Entertainment.
Lemonade topped the charts in various countries worldwide, including the US Billboard 200, where it earned 653,000 with additional album-equivalent units, including 485,000 copies in its first week of sales. It has since been certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). By the end of 2016, Lemonade had sold over 1.5 million copies in the United States, making it the third-best-selling album of the year in the US, and it was the best-selling album of 2016, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), with 2.5 million copies sold worldwide. The album was supported by five singles: "Formation", which was a top-ten hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, "Sorry", "Hold Up", "Freedom", and "All Night". In April 2016, Beyoncé embarked on The Formation World Tour to promote the album, an all-stadium tour visiting North America and Europe.
hey guys! this video was a pain to get up due to all the copyright issues, so sadly a few parts are muted and trimmed: Sorry, Sandcastles, and Formation.
hope it doesn't ruin the video too much, tried my best to make it work, such a fun reaction I needed you all to see it.

Tired of the “overrated praise” beyoncé drag. She is truly a mastermind and an A R T I S T. Vocally, lyrically, she’s one pf the greatest artist in a LONG time. Glad to be alive to experience her.
Love your honest reactions 🙏🏽
90% of people that say Beyoncé is overrated have never listened to her albums
@@boystupid2324 and also arrangement and production wise cause she’s in control of all of that too
@@Da-xc4kztrue
@@boystupid2324she most definitely does, the producers who work with her always talk about how great a lyricist she is. I’m tired of you guys putting Beyoncé in a box as if she’s not an all rounded artist.
@@boystupid2324in 2002 Beyoncé was the first black woman to win ASCAP songwriter of the year for Jumpin, Jumpin, Independent Woman PT 1. Whether she solely writes now or not, writing with a team is still writing if you made contributions.
If the dad listens to Homecoming: The Live Album by her he’ll literally explode. It sounds exactly like his thing.
Yes!!! I really want them to watch it together to get the full picture! He would absolutely love it!!!
Yes this should be their next Beyonce video!!!
100 on board with this! React to Homecoming next! ❤
Oh, that'd be so good
I can't wait for that 😊
Her name is ultra-famous, but her actual music and visuals and performances are underrated.

Some of my favorite iconic moments of the Lemonade Era:
1. The film.. I mean cmon.
2. Adele insisting Beyonce should’ve won AOTY at the Grammys instead of her (and literally breaking her award in half to give to her!!) 🥺
3. The Becky with the good hair controversy 👱♀️
4. Her slaying Daddy Lessons at the CMA awards despite racist backlash 🤠
5. The absolute meltdown conservatives were having over her performance of Formation at the Super Bowl 🤡
6. Her Grammys medley where she was pregnant with the floating chair 😥😱
7. Her BET awards performance of Freedom with THEE Kendrick Lamar (the dancing in the water?!?) 💦
8. The 6 Inch performance for TIDAL
Don’t forget the VMA performance of this album… sooooo mad they scrubbed the internet of it 😢
@@keanyarenee8645literally one of the best performances beyonce has done. And one of the best performances in history.AND IS NOWHERE 😭😭😭
such an iconic era!!! and im still so mad that this album was snubbed at the Grammy’s. she truly deserved it
I still prefer her 2014 VMA medley, but yes, she mopped the floor with everybody that night. The mic dropped for a reason.
the All Night performance for TIDAL too
The fact that this didn’t win AOTY proves the Grammys are an absolute joke. One of the best albums ever.
LITERALLY!
BEYONCE HAD ONE OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. ONE OF THE GREATEST!!
Same thing with Renaissance, and they'll probably play in her face with Cowboy Carter. I don't take them seriously.
@@LadyAstarionAncunin exactly.. And if she ever wins they would day stuff like "jay Z asked for it., jayz paid for it" Ig pisses me of soo much.
It makes me happy when other people appreciate Beyoncé’s art 💖
She’s not an indie artist. Everyone praises her tho
@@cece6652you’d be surprised how many haters she has
It makes me cry very very ugly like hig tears ❤
@@cece6652 M A N Y people call her overrated when they've heard 0.1% of her music or they just repeat what people say online

You can tell Beyoncé’s art comes from the depths of her soul which really resonates with people and unfortunately she’s called “overrated” because of that 😐
People as big as Beyonce have literal teams of people writing music for them.
We can see the credits mate. At the end of it she’s putting these teams together and is the one directing her own unique artistic vision. You’ve never been around creatives have you? Collaboration doesn’t negate the high level of work and vision SHES able to put out.
@@space_1073and that doesn’t make the art any less amazing. Beyoncé just happens to know who to work with to help speak her art into existence
@@space_1073 having a team isn’t a crime but you know damn well she is incredibly involved and influential in the process. She is the music at the of the day. The layered vocals the harmonies are all a part of her master pieces so let’s not act dense
@@MichaelBrandon-8585 the original comment made it sound like Beyoncé did all of it like it’s 100% personal or something. People deserve to know how the music industry works. I love the album though. What’s ur point?
Did yall notice how she says " what are you doing my love " and the end of pray you catch me and "where have you been my love " at the end of all night 😭😭🙌in the same tone!!!!!!! Freaking phenomenally executed.
Such a great catch!!!!
Never noticed that, wow!! 🤯🤯
And at the end when she sighs and says “oh how I’ve missed you my love”
It's actually "oh how I've missed you my love" *
@@rinnylee3132 it gives me chills every time, even reading it right now
The comment about the distortion in her voice on Don't Hurt Yourself is absolutely spot on. In the music video, she's in a car garage as if she's found his car parked somewhere it's not suppose to be or she found him inside the car. I interpret it as she's screaming at him through the glass, making what he hear slightly muffled and echoey but still bold loud and angry while seeking shelter inside the safety of the vehicle from her rage.
Beyonce did Formation at the Superbowl, Freedom with Kendrick Lamar at the BET Awards, Daddy Lessons with the Dixie Chicks at the CMAs, Love Drought and Sandcastles at the Grammy's while she was pregnant with twins, 6 Inch and All Night at Tidal, and a whole medley at the VMA's.... all while doing the Formation world tour. She absolutely killed 2016.
And NEVER won album of the year at grammys, witch is crazzyyyyy
I regret sleeping on Beyonce for so long, but holy shit is this odyssey of discovery kicking my ass in the best way. This woman is on a completely different level, and is quickly becoming one of my favourite artists.
I love when people discover Beyoncé for real. She may be everywhere but I think she's extremely underrated as an artist. You guys should listen to self-titled by her next. Also Jaguar II by Victoria Monet.
Jaguars II and Black is
King
Exactly. People just know her name and her big songs but don’t truly realize how complete of an artist she is.
I neeed them to listen to self titled I can imagine their reaction to Haunted loll
Ooo yes they need to dive into Jaguar and Jaguar II
That would be me a few months ago. I don’t know how I slept on this album, and her, for so long. She really is underrated, despite the fame. Most people just know the radio hits…and those are good, but they barely touch the surface of what she puts out on her albums.
I particularly love this record because I’ve been there, and I can relate to all the emotions so much. The hurt, the anger, the determination, and, most importantly, the love that runs through. Just soooo good.
It's insane how Beyoncé captured her emotions so well with Lemonade, how she described what heartbreak feels like.
I remember when people heard the first song. Everyone was immediately like, "What did you do, Jay-Z?!"
No one in this world can think like her
And also the healing that comes after- she showcases a supremely spiritual journey through darkness and hard times and it’s a testament to the human will to thrive. She is phenomenal 😭
Not just heartbreak, but almost all the emotions of being in a relationship. Everything from deceiving, jealousy, insecurities, anger, resentment, redemption, forgiveness etc. to me it all summed up on her all night song when she said “my torturer became my remedy”
this is the album that convinced my dad that beyonce is not only worth the hype, but fully deserving of the praise she receives. he even surprised me by taking me to see the formation tour! lemonade will always hold a special place in my heart for allowing us to bond over our love for her ❤
*cries in daddy issues*
Lemonade is her magnum opus for real, Since self titled she's been killing it with the albums.
It always been so crazy to me that so many people don’t even try to look into Beyoncé’s work. She actually talked about it in Renaissance and her movie but as a black woman the different treatment she receives from the general public is so obvious. I remember when Lemonade came out I was discussing music with one of my teachers and was saying how amazing the album was and she rolled her eyes and went like « yeah everbody loves her i don’t understand » girl you didn’t even tried ??????
People automatically classify her as a typical pop artist and resum her catalog to songs such as Single Ladies and Crazy in Love without even trying to listen to her albums. You can’t say Beyonce is propably the best female artist of our time who does it all without people trying to downgrade her and immediatly say she’s just overrated.
Despite providing high-quality work for years, she still doesn't receive the respect she deserves. She is being compared to individuals who do not provide as much quality and versatility as she does. Artists like Taylor or Madonna do not have that problem…
You are so right. It it pisses me off so much. People are only going to give her her flowers and appreciate her artistry when she is gone. She is a black successful woman and that alone makes people feel the need to humble her
🙌🖤
Thank you for saying this I did an essay on Lemonade for uni (bear in mind im doing a music course) and my teacher was so quick to try and shut it down before Id even started just because it was Beyonce… I was so pissed and stuck with it anyway just to make a point of it lmao.
Even before Beyoncé went solo, most of us (including myself) had a presumption of who Beyoncé was based off of the media. The media has tried to downplay her TALENT and influence in mainstream media for nearly a decade now. She IS the reason all new music is released on Fridays, she IS the reason surprise releases became popular in the 2010’s, she IS the reason visual albums became more popular within the last decade. Sure, it’s 2023 and in terms of popularity, we have the likes of Taylor Swift, but, we still have a living legend outperforming, out-singing, still peaking creatively, and we need to be more aware and receptive of her work past the “image” that the media has placed on Beyoncé.
People truly forget that music used to be released on Tuesdays until she dropped self titled on a Friday
literally perfectly said
changed the game with that digital drop
I knew your dad was going to absolutely love this because it’s truly remarkable. She said it best she wants her body of work to last, tell a story, have meaning, etc. That’s why she stays in these eras for so long and during that time she truly went through every stage of grief and somehow managed to tell her entire story. It’s timeless.
In reference to the cohesive-ness of the album I feel like it is 100%. ALL of the songs are following the theme. Jay Z cheated on her and here are her emotions going through it. period. It’s so versatile because there are so many emotions in situations like this; anger, grief, regret, love, hate, forgiveness, resolution, rebuilding. This album tells a story.
Yes, but the visual album and poetry in between highlights that his infidelity is just one layer of this story. This album is about black womanhood and its many layers. I would encourage all listeners to look up the poetry and read it, as well as some of the historical context.
Daddy Lessons is just a perfect track, it fits so well in the album storytelling because it unveils yet another side of Beyoncé. It shows us that she was is some kind of way prepared to what could’ve happened to her because in her childhood she saw other women in her life experiencing the same things. And the track is musically incredible: just as we are going back on B’s life, we’re also getting to the roots of black culture/folk music. Amazing.
I was just listening to this song this morning and this is a great take!
Your dad is in the Hive now! We love him! Beyoncé is an artist for people who love music. Her concerts give you Bruce Springsteen big band & incredible dancing, singing and unreal production. Tell him to be proud and we’ll see him in club Renaissance next show 😂❤🍋🐝
Y’all have to see the film- not exaggerating it’s life changing and you’ll never regret or forget seeinging it.
This album is VERY COHESIVE in terms of subject matter, lyricism, and storytelling wise. The sound was intended to be different to show that an album can be cohesive without it staying in one genre.
That's called VERSATILITY IN MUSICALITY.
That's what Beyoncé showed here.
THIS LADY DESERVES EVERY OUNCE OF HER SUCCESS. No body does it like her. May she continue to bring joy to the people who love her and appreciate her.
16:31 “she CAN do it” Beyoncé’s genre bending ability is one of my favorite aspects of her artistry. Absolutely phenomenal all around
The live version of ‘Don’t hurt yourself’ is even better than the studio. Her live is always phenomenal ❤
The one she did for Coachella. It’s sounded like my ears been unplugged. Still love the studio version.
@@JessieR2023 Agreed.
Daddy’s lesson is criminally underrated.. this album is absolutely amazing and I love other people reaction realizing how amazing it is lol
My favorite album from her is "4" that's where she stopped caring about sales, charts, promotion and started pursuing and creating music that will mean something to her and will stand the test of time. She created what she wanted and not what the radios wanted. That's why I fell in love and also became a huge fan since 4.
Also, if you have time, watch her documentary "Year of 4" it's on her UA-cam channel. That's so inspirational.
I think it’s my personal favorite era for sure among the 7 albums the raw vocals and grit on that album is something else for sure 🙌🏽🙌🏽
4 has never left my top 3. 4 for evaaaaa
She stopped caring about sales AFTER 4. But it’s my fav album of hers as well.
It was after 4, kinda like it ended her radio-friendly era and went full on experimental
Me too! It’s my favourite album too!
I’m a grown ass man and I’m wowed because as a straight man who’s been a Beyoncé fan since the beginning of time, it’s nice to see others realizing the true artistry of Beyoncé.
@@MichaelBrandon-8585 while I agree, that doesn’t deter people from assuming you’re gay or “weird” not that there would be anything bad about either, but it’s rather annoying.
Beyonce has the most creative minds of our generation, IT is an INSULT to even put “overrated” in the same bracket with her name. Y’all will respect her and her LEGACY ! LEGENDARY SHIT ONLY.
Beyoncé is one of the last few superstars. She is a total icon and an incredible artist!
sometimes when something is "bigger than life" such as beyonce and other greats you start forgetting why she was considered great in the first place cause there is a dissociation from the work. thats why i love these reactions cause you can distant yourself from the phenomenon and actually depict the incredible vocals, production, lyrics and just the art in general.
This is so well said. I actually think her name distracts from how incredible of an artist she actually is. Which is both a blessing and a curse.
Lemonade and Renaissance are true masterpieces. Infinitely replayable.
I’d love to watch y’all react to Jay Z’s 4:44. It kinda follows the story of Lemonade. And to wrap things up, Everything is Love by The Carters is also amazing. Excelent trilogy imo
100% agree on that! everything is love is such un underrated album
Yesss I would love to see them react to this!!!
+1 those are some excellent albums I hope you guys react to it🤧🙏
They just reacted to 4:44 !! It’s only on Patreon for now though
I second this!
This album was for Beyoncé not only to bare her soul to the world regarding the infidelity during her marriage but also to show that she can do everything musically. She gave Rock, Country, Reggae, R&B, and many more genres while at the same time giving a cohesive album! People don’t understand how hard that is!
All Night is for me one of the best song of the album! Made me cry everytime, Beyonce is just an amazing artist! 🪩🔥
It really is ❤❤
This era was so super iconic! Beyonce released formation out of NOWHERE then showed up A DAY LATER to perform it at the superbowl! And released tickets for a tour with ONE SONG OUT from the album after halftime! Lemonade didn’t come out until like two months later!!!
What a time to be alive!
2016 music catalog was crazy!
Show dad the visuals of this album. Every song and the story between tracks is incredible. He need to see the whole story. It’s a masterpiece!!!!!!
Been waiting for your reaction to this... This is my FAVORITE album of all time.

Same. Album of my life 💛✨.
Been a die hard Beyoncé fan since 18 I’m 43 now and got to see her on tour last year but lemonade is literally the album of my life. 🐝🐝🐝
Love that! I was a fan at 8 when Destiny’s Child first came out and I’m now 33 years old. I love how her artistry has influenced and inspired me throughout my life
Lemonade is my favorite album of all time. It is spectacular. She joined intimate themes and mixed them with social and political elements. That’s PURE art.
Even the variety of genres. It is not only to showcase Bey’s deep emotions through her healing process, but also a rescue to her black roots. Rock and country are built in black culture and she wanted to take that back.
The whole album is empowering, significant and emotional. No wonder it was considered one of the best albums of the decade. Rolling Stone even considers it as the best female album of the 21st century. That’s amazing.
Cool fact: Lemonade was also the best selling album of 2016 worldwide.
Do HOMECOMING (her Coachella performance). The vocals, the live musicianship, the dancers, the whole production- Flawless & Amazing 😍🤩 You really get to see her work ethic. It’s also a crash course of her music & an introduction to the world of HBCU (Band) culture 💪🏾
Yesssss!
Much like dad, I sorta ignored her due to fame/the big singles that got overplayed, etc. until Lemonade, was completely blown away. Then after seeing the Renaisance tour even more so and now totally obsessed. Please say you both have seen the film and watched Lemonade too! Both films are just amazing and powerful.
And this is why people this she’s over rated or overhyped (which she is not). She is such a HUGE star and has so much fame that people can’t fathom how one person can do it. And it’s VERY clear who is mostly thinking like this. ✋ colored people…
@@CR-ro3mqCLOCK IT
And now Cowboy Carter! She keeps topping herself now tapping into country and other genres.
versatile and cohesive at the same time, lemonade is a masterpiece 😍
She’s a storyteller with the musical arrangements. All her albums and transitions have such a strong emotional build and journey.
I love how she puts an arrangement together
Lemonade will forever be one of my all time favorite albums! It’s done so beautifully and I love that you get to see such a raw and vulnerable side of Beyoncé that you don’t see too often as she is one of the most private celebrities
This album is a masterpiece and so overlooked sometimes. Pray You Catch Me is a never skip for me. The opening is like an audio stim, it’s so rich.
Highly recommend the full film. Her poetry between the tracks, the visuals throughout, the weight of her words - it still gives me chills.
This album is a masterpiece
Her most vulnerable soulful music piece which is something I’m very grateful to have listened to.
Amazing. Lemonade is a masterpiece and considered one of the best albums of ALL time. Beyoncé is a living legend.
You’d have to be Beyoncé to 1) afford to use Zeppelin while still paying royalties out the ass and make money on it and 2) to be so worthy of it. I have a love affair with everything on Lemonade but Don’t Hurt Yourself takes the cake as far as sound. Freedom is a close second if not tied.
She just released two singles for Act 2! It's gonna be a country album. Y'all loved Daddy Lessons that much it's about to get better.
I didn’t even think of the way the distortion on DHYS symbolizes her being angry but not fully being able to do what she wants about it. Like being held back in your rage. Such a good catch!
I loved that they pointed that out! I was also thinking being held back by her image/fame. Having to 'secretly' go through the anger of the situation to avoid rumors/press/maybe even embarrassment, but wanting to put it all out there. So happy that she was able to!
@@tayb796 you’re so right. good catch!

i hope you guys can watch the visual album and some of her iconic perfomances
You have to do her self titled album next! This is where I noticed the greatest shift in her albums becoming more conceptual, loved her before and after still
Also so happy watching you react to Freedom, I saw the last show in the lemonade tour and she brought Kendrick out, you should try to watch that performance, MetLife stadium October 2016
Now you gotta react to Solange either when I get home or A seat at the table
ouuu yes omg
The thing I love most about Beyonce is that she is very private and she only lets her craft speak for herself. Lemonade is basically her response to all the rumours in the press that Jay Z was cheating on her. It is quite sad that, as your father mentioned, she is spoken about all over the place, not for her music, but rather for her personal life.
It's so cool to watch how 2 generations understand each other!!! Moreover, they introduce each other to musical tastes. Thanks for the reaction. The album is gorgeous) Both audio and visual.
I feel like people hear the most popular, made-for-radio songs from her past discography, but the new albums, where she has more artistic control, really highlight her artistry and the things that make her tick. Truly so talented.
I also love that Don’t Hurt Yourself draws directly from When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin, which is an homage of her love for classic rock and a nod NOLA, which was a huge influence on this album’s visual art.
Your father’s description of Don’t Hurt Yourself was soooo on point. Great job guys, it’s great watching father/son vibing together
I've been waiting for creators of your caliber to react to Lemonade for so long; the intellect, the emotional intelligence, the knowledge in music theory, just e v e r y t h i n g that allows and lifts Beyoncé to have competent listeners to appreciate the nuances of her brillance. I'm so grateful you reacted to this and shared it with us, it was so enlightening and interesting to watch! Thank you!
YOU GUYS DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE IM EXCITED TO WATCH👏👏👏
Thank you for reacting to Lemonade. This album was masterful. Beyonce's creativity and genius have no limits. The Lemonade film is just as masterful. Her imagination is top-tier. I am glad that more people are discovering her latest art, because according to me, these recent albums are not for the masses but for people with a deep understanding of art. Lemonade will always have a special place in my heart.
The visuals for this album are insane. Even if you don’t watch it as content you need to still see it. It’s beautiful
I strongly recommend you to watch the Lemonade Film, it ties the songs even better in a story of grief and reconciliation And on the topic of cohesion it showcases the reasoning of songs like daddy lessons in the album.
Lemonade is a really personal project, but it also states that beyoncé's story is not exceptionally hers, it is a commentary on how trauma and distrust is built and passed on many black relationships, and how hard it is to break a cicle of lovelessness. This vision is expanded on the visual part of the album (which I may or may not have the link, in case you are interested in watching :) )
this!! “daddy lessons” mv made this album stick out for me, the film is outstanding
could you may or may not drop the link 😎
@@kcamiaw omg sorry for not responding!! I'm afraid that the file may be taken down if I drop the link here, is there any other way that I can send you?
I think the different genres in the songs highlight the stark differences between the different stages of grief that her (and every person) experience when there is a break of serious trust. If you notice, at the end of 6 inch she whispers “come back.” It’s such an empowering, boss song that talks about how she is respected outside of the home, but has to plead for her partner, quietly, to “come back.” Just an amazing album. Glad you guys reviewed it!
Lemonade blew my mind when I heard it. I also didn’t really have Beyoncé on my radar but I listened to Lemonade when it came out and it completely changed my perception of her. It has remained one of my favorite albums.
I'm glad that you mentioned this somewhere in the video because this was also the album that really put her music on my radar. I remember hearing songs like Don't Hurt Yourself, Daddy Lessons and Freedom for the first time and being mind blown mainly because I expected her work to be only in that R&B/pop field but hearing elements of rock, country and reggae in these songs and other songs on the album really made this a special listen for me.
And of course she did it again later with Renaissance and dance/electronic music. She's really one of a kind!
I don’t think people understands how hard she works. I hate using overrated to describe any artist. But I cannot stand when it’s used for Beyoncé. Popular things and people are over hated, but Beyoncé should not be. She genuinely worked from the age of like 7 up all the way up to now. She’s a classically trained vocalist, a dancer, a composer, director and more. The hype she has is more than deserved, and many people don’t know these things. (editing this now made me realize I probably should’ve said I was talking about people in general. I loved this reaction btw and I love the dynamic of this channel❤️❤️!!!)

Ugh!! i hope you guys go through her whole discography it is IMMACULATE. Id die to listen to all her albums for the first time and I can’t wait to see your dads reactions
The transition into Freedom is also commentary on how institutionalized racism impacts relationships between Black men and women. It’s a brilliant way of bringing the macro into the micro and shows tremendous compassion for how we are struggling with our relationships.
That’s the amazing thing about Beyoncé. She provides us different sounds but the songs lyrics are part of the album theme. She tells a story and takes you on a sonic and lyrical journey. It’s a complete story from beginning to end.
Don't Hurt Yourself and Daddy Lessons are two of my favourite Bey songs. Glad you enjoyed the album
Based on previous reactions, I knew Don't Hurt Yourself would be a favorite of your dad's. I love his appreciation of MUSIC and instrumentation ❤
never opened a video faster than right now
It's so fun to see your dad discover this music. This is easily one of the top 5 albums of the 2010's, and most of it is extremely derived from Beyoncé's experience with Jay-Z cheating on her. First of all, who the fuck cheats on Beyoncé? Second of all, the concept of this album was absolutely birthed from that elevator where Solange was beating him up 🤣
As a gay man, I feel like I have a special connection to Beyoncé, and my entire life is based around her musical eras. We laugh together, we cry together, we dance together. She is truly the artist of our generation (sorry Swifties, your fav could never). ALL HAIL QUEEN BEY
if jay-z never cheated on Beyonce we would have never got this album. A necessary evil.
You guys are bringing me back to the lemonade 🍋 era 🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭!
He's OUR dad now.
Daddy Lessons makes me tear up every damn time. It just does something to my soul. I loooove this album!
the way I *GASPED* when I saw this upload
THE WAY I KNEW YOU'D LOVE 'DON'T HURT YOURSELF' LOL
the cohesiveness is in the narrative she’s telling us. she went on journey of sadness, anger, redemption and forgiveness. each song is a chapter. she also launched a film for this album and before every song there’s a poem (she won a peabody award for the poems) and i really recommend you watch the film. it ties the whole experience so beautifully. this album is an emocional journey but also it’s about her ancestry and blackness. she goes deep in her roots and that’s why there’s rock song, a country song and a lot blues influence. those are rhythms created by black people that were whitewashed overtime. she’s taking back that too. it is so complex and unique. one of the greatest albums ever made.
I love watching these and rediscovering the album again in another way 😂
I hope Bey watches reactions like these and her heart is full❤
It had been a while since I'd listened to the album and, as always, listening along with you guys was great. Connor's reaction to All Night made me have an even more intense reaction and I started crying!! Such a perfect love song for a long-lasting relationship, just the right touch of bitter mixed in with all the sweetness, and subtly enhancing that taste
What a great video. Hopefully y’all can do her self titled album.
The idiots who keeps whining about Mama Yonce have never heard her discography. She's truly ONE OF ONE--- THE ONLY ONE!!!!
I get genuinely so excited when I see you guys review my favorite albums! You guys are so well read, culturally diversified, and your taste level is impeccable, so I just love to hear your opinions and appreciation on the artists that have had such a massive influence on my life. And I know that you guys are always going to appreciate it in the way that it should be. Love you guys!
Going to see Renaissance live was amazing. Best show I’ve been too hands down. Her vocal talent is at a level I never thought I would get to experience in real life. Welcome to the bee hive 🐝
