A 2002 speech by President Bush coined a new phrase, the "axis of evil;" a list of countries that are considered to be undermining the US. But, in the past few years, that list has seemingly silently expanded, so, does this new list now make sense?

CORRECTION: At 4:29, we describe Iran as the least popular country in the Middle East. As some commenters have fairly pointed out, Israel is probably the least popular country in the Middle East at the moment, although Iran isn't far behind and the general point - that Iran can be described as a "pariah state" - still holds. Apologies for the mishap, and we hope you still enjoyed this video!

Even without selling them weapons, China is still Russia's closest and most important ally. In 2021, before the war, China-Russia dollar-denominated trade was around 68 billion. Last year, it hit 240 billion. Russia mostly replaced all of its trade with Europe with China instead, it's the whole reason why their economy is still doing fine. So acting like Iran and North Korea are closer to Russia just because they sold them weapons feels really disingenuous.

    • @luishernandezblonde

China is the source of Russia's survival. In the past, China played a key role behind the collapse of the Soviet Union by helping the Afghan mujahideen fighting the Soviets while besieging the USSR economically, so the Chinese knew so well what kind of leverage they have with Russia.

    • @giantWario
      @giantWario 5 місяців тому +18

@@luishernandezblonde I actually think it really goes both ways, the main reason why China's real estate collapse hasn't destroyed their economy is because they now have exclusive access to cheap Russian oil and natural resources, some of which they use to fuel their industry but some of which they just re-sell at a higher price to people who sanction Russia. Hence why China stopped advocating for peace between Russia and Ukraine a while ago, they realized the war was good for them.

I think the whole world would be better off with some focus on quality of life for all instead of business and progress. Why do they do this? Yeah we call it “The West”. It’s more of a concept really, because in the modern world, the western “axis” is probably the most free and most comfortable place to live. In times where every superpower is a dictatorship, the west is the last bastion of democracy. You can criticize it all you want, but it is a simple fact of geopolitics that the west is the place where you are granted the most freedoms. Not agreeing with that is just straight false.

China is seen as far more of a problem for the US then it is for the rest of the world, it's a geopolitical power struggle between the two, the US clearly wants the EU to do US bidding on China, but it makes more sense for the EU to do what's in its own interest when it comes to China, even if that hurts US interest.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like many of the policies from China, but they are nothing like Russia, North Korea or Iran, and when it comes to China, it's far more of an issue for the US because of the balance of power around the world, for the EU and for a lot of the world, it probably makes more sense to play them both off each other for their own benefits, probably why the EU or a lot of the world isn't as hawkish on China as the US would like.

Full disclosure, I obtained my degree in political science with my focus in foreign affairs and military studies between 2013 and 2018.
During that time, political scientists and experts since the early 2000s had been saying that Russia, China, North Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Syria, South Africa, the (stans region of Asia), and possibly Brazil would form an alliance designed to counter NATO and Western allies.
It was predicted that between 2023 and 2028 is the most likely time in which the war would occur.
Mainly because China and Russia have shrinking populations and these are the years which they have the most military power and dominance before their military and economic capabilities start to deteriorate.
Political and military scientists for decades have been raising the alarm bells, but it's gone unheated, now that these facts are unfolding, people are shocked and acting like they've never heard this before.
This just goes to show why we should listen to experts. We don't have to blindly follow what they say, but if you've got experts continually proving that something is going to be an issue, we need to be proactive not reactive

There is no Navy or combinations of Navy's currently in the world that possess such a capability.

If you look at the last 10 to 20 years political scholars have been calling for increasing naval capabilities, Air Force capabilities, increasing expeditionary forces.
When I was in school and what I was taught.
The US would be forced into a ground war in Europe.
It would be required to spend significant stealth air capacity in the Middle East in order to keep the Middle East secure and to protect oil shipping lanes.
The bulk of its naval capacity would be used to fight within the South China Sea and the Korean peninsula.
The US has always had a doctor in to be able to fight two high intensity wars simultaneously, however over the last decade military experts have been saying that a three front war is incredibly likely by 2030.

Ptttttt that Bush-era designation is no longer used by any sane person in any Western democracy. "Evil" is neither neutral nor concise, in fact it sounds like a word you'd find in a fairytale or in a religious text. Nowadays, we use neutral descriptors such as "authoritarian regimes" or "state sponsors of terrorism" to denote those same countries.
But while Western democracies have stopped using silly emotional/inflammatory terms, autocracies are using their own brand, such as "Axis of Resistance", "The Little Satan/The Big Satan", "Unfriendly Countries", "hurting the feelings of the Chinese nation" etc. 🤷🏼

Plus, the globalized world was turning out so promising...
I used to think that the Chinese government was really bad at managing perceptions and communicating with the world. But over time it's become obvious that most countries' politicians don't have much sense of what ways of thinking people outside of their own countries have.
In essence, the conflict with China is not fundamentally different from a religious / ideological war... We often blame religions for causing wars, but it's really our inability (as humans) to understand those from different backgrounds, who might have different values.

While this is technically true, information brokers collecting information that way is highly illegal. Given that any such broker is unlikely to follow other laws (or may be unable to be held to them due to their jurisdiction being different), any removal requests are unlikely to be taken seriously. If the argument was that proactively removing data from brokers and anyone else one wouldn't want to handle their information reduces the risk of a leak of their information in the first place, that could have some legitimacy, but as stated, that argument for an information removal service makes no sense.

I love it how the americans are calling others evil and terrorists while supporting militant groups and while beginning more wars than every other country😌
For real, americans want to "democrize" other regions (somehow always regions with oil or gas🤔🤔) but shouldn't they democrize themselves first? 2 parties that are almost the same doesn't sound like a democracy for me

Mfw iraq invades kuwait (a soverign country) and Iran kills its own citizens under sharia. Mfw mao starved millions. Mfw stalin starved millions. What, is this all the past? Then why bring up the West's past so much if we can't bring up the Easts? shut up bruhhhh

    • @rkx0
      @rkx0 5 місяців тому +7

I like how Eastern apologists hate America and the west so much and bring up their past consistently.
Lets bring up some of the Easts:
      1. Iraq invading Kuwait
      2. Stalin starving millions under communism
      3. Mao starving millions under communism
      4. Russia's Circassian Genocide
      5. Ottoman's oppression of Arabs
      6. North Korea's various oppressions of BASIC human rights.
These are all in the 20th century. If we want to go back to the colonial years, I'll list more. But this is all relevant to the present day. If the east starts war, its RESISTANCE AGAINST AMERICA! If the west does something good, it's OPPRESSION! When america intervenes in Yugoslavia its BAD COZ WEST. When america doesnt intervene in Rwanda its bad COZ WEST NO HELP

Are you going to say "well it's okay that we bombed Libya into a failed state because Russia supported Serbia" lol? Are you going to say "well it's okay we supported known Al-Qaeda affiliated the Al-Aqsa Front in Syria against Assad because Iran supported Hamas" lol?
