Okay, I see now why I like the MG100DFX better than any of the other MG series amps. See what makes these Marshalls a love hate thing is the sound ultimately. The MG100 model has 2 selections for Overdrive, there's OD1 and OD2. I can tell you that OD2 is not for the faint of heart and is extremely high gain, think almost Mesa-Boogie like high gain or Soldano. I've noticed that the MG50, the MG30 and so on do not have the OD2, which to me is a deal breaker with this amp. I do recommend using the FDD switch on all the time. Oh and BTW the speaker emulation out of this amp directly into a board or mixer sounds absolutely fantastic. This means you don't have to mic the cab, so therefore no extra feedback from your guitar player.
