The inability/reluctance to report is much more clear to me now, and I know I will have to be an advocate. The statistics are staggering, 4 out of 5 abusers are family members, the # of elders abused, thank you for sharing, I will be aware and I will advocate for individuals and more supportive social systems when the caregivers/family members fail those in their care.

What we need are services that are affordable and accessible to all elderly people regardless of income. You also need a better system to prevent and punish crimes of financial abuse and exploitation as well as a way to undo indicate the losses caused by institutions and individuals who take advantage of vulnerable adults. Mortgage companies any institution that would try to encourage adults to take actions that would risk or compromise the stability of a family home should be punished it forced to return the family home. Fannie Mae and it's colluders stole my grandfather's house from him and forced him out at 84 years of age. These companies should be forced to restore return to homes they have stolen from the elderly

Family doctors need to be accountable for ignoring dementia sufferers who tell.

This is happening to my Ma & the authorities won't help me stop it! Doesn't that make the authorities the abusers enabler? I have a bad taste in my mouth due to the authorities inadequacy. The authorities have seen to it that the only one that wins is my mother's abuser! I say, "THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING HARM TO BE DONE TO MY demented MOTHER"! May the enablers & abuser ROT IN HELL!

Attitudes towards seniors MUST CHANGE! For GoDaddy to run an ad where GoDaddy shows a woman wakening a frail elderly female - pointing her finger in her face and YELLING " Stick it " lacks human dignity and shows profound lack of respect for older people. Then it gets even worse - when she derides the framed photo of a deceased grandfather.
You will encounter this ad regularly while watching UA-cam Videos and or the Food Network.

Actually it can be stated either way. The state of California defines an elder as 65 or over. But if the only comment you feel is necessary to post is one of semantics, then I think the indifference to the problem that exists is telling in itself.
