No- the video misses out Charles apart from one brief mention of him at 2:25 and even briefer one at the very end, and that's just an add-on rather than a proper look at the notion of abdication. Regardless of whether or not you think he could or should abdicate, the video is making a massive assumption and missing out someone that the UK has been assuming for the last 70 years *will* be king. But maybe TheTalko has a massive scoop that no-one else has been privy to- in which case it really deserves more views. That, or they don't think photos of Charles & Camilla would get many clicks and are thus happy to play fast & loose with the facts.

The current William would actually be “King William the V”, NOT “The IV”. We’ve already had a William “the IV” - he ruled in the early-mid 1800’s, directly before Queen Victoria (who was his niece). He was George the IIIs son, and ruled after his brother, George the IV - who is often best known for being Prince Regent.

The law is "the oldest son is the heir" isn't it? So if Charles dies, doesn't the crown go to one of his siblings?
Klaus Köhl nope. it goes to the eldest son, then since he’s king it goes to *his* eldest son, and so on. so after William and all of his kids have ruled (just pretending here that by this point those kids don’t have kids), then it would go to Harry, then his kids. again, if for some reason the royal line stopped there, then the next in line would be Queen Elizabeth’s next son, prince Andrew, and his descendants.

While Prince Charles COULD abdicate to make way for William, it is very unlikely that he will do so. Abdication is considered to be a selfish choice and is widely regarded as the harshest act of disloyalty to the Crown, as it basically means denouncing the responsibility placed on them by God and forces the next in the line of succession to ascend to the throne as Sovereign before they are ready. Charles would never disrespect his mother or the Monarchy as a whole by choosing to abdicate and he would never place that burden on his son's shoulders until he had no other choice. No royal wants to be the Sovereign. There is nothing good about being the ruler of a nation, it is a soul-sucking position that forces you to abandon emotion and replace it with mindless complacency, taking away your right to an opinion and the free time you may wish to spend with your family. While there are many things that people can hold against Prince Charles, nobody can deny that he is a loving father and he would never burden his son with the weight of that responsibility, not until he is carried away in a wooden box himself.

My school allows helicopters to land as it is the closest large area to the hospital. Prince William piloted during a helicopter visit a few years ago and the school invited him for lunch. He was so humble and kind to the students and staff.

They might choose to change that but given that there are still strong feelings about Diana I think she will choose to be a princess consort instead of Queen. 2) On accession to the throne, the new monarch gets to pick which name they will be known by.
3) The name doesn't even have to be one they already have.
4) Standard protocol is to pick a name that appears in the British Royal line. This is not a rule (the Crown is considered above all law and rule except divine) so Prince William could therefore choose to be known as King Arthur. He could even pick a name that doesn't appear in the British Monarch history, such as King David. The choice is his.
In short, he can change his name. Just like you can with deed poll. Except he does so easier.
There is no way Prince Charles would abdicate the throne. He has already admitted in several interviews that he looks forward to reigning, and has several ideas of how he wants the monarchy to modernize. We will definitely have a King Charles...or whatever name he chooses to go by.

I feel Prince William will be King. Prince Charles to me has stained his throne. I feel William should be King when Queen Elizabeth dies. He and his wife are young and it would just be better. Plus it would give Prince George more than enough time to be ready as well as Princess Charlotte God forbid something were to happen to George. If William becomes King he probably will keep William as name. Simply because his mom Diana named him that.

The notion of succession is the life blood of the British monarchy. HRH the Prince of Wales and Camila have an interesting history yes but they will legally have to ascend the throne upon the queen’s death. The poor man has waited for decades to take his place and can’t be shoved out of view. Additionally, HRH Prince William could easily change his regal name to something else. His mother naming him William does not set that name as his regal title.
Unless if prince charles abidcates or had died by that time William will be second in line for the throne. Last time someone abidcated was because they loved a previously married American actress. (which is obviously not frowned upon today, considering the recent royal wedding) the queen in particular is very serious about her duties as monarch and I'm sure that she has pressed that onto her son as he was growing up. because of charles' age now, I don't doubt that his reign will be much shorter compared to his mother's

Anyway, it would need for the Parliament of the United Kingdom and the parliaments of the fifteen other Commonwealth realms to determine whether or not Charles should be removed from the line of succession - and why should that even happen? After-all the monarchy is not a popularity contest.

Although it would be funny to see a King Arthur on the British throne. It probably won't happen. Most likely Prince Charles will assume the name King George in honor of his grandfather and Prince William will most likely follow suit as King George or he might actually keep his name as King William.

1) There is no Kate Middleton...she ceased to be Middleton when she became a royal. Her correct name is Catherine, Duchess of Caimbridge.
2) I'm sure Prince Charles appreciates you skipping completely over him...he's only been the heir apparent for around 7 DECADES.
3) The changes to the anthem will be made after Charles takes the throne, and won't change until Charlotte or a daughter of George ascends.
4) Charles becomes King the moment Elizabeth passes....there is no confirmation required.
