- Ryan Montgomery, a professional cyber security specialist and ethical hacker, regularly uses powerful tools to protect himself and others from malicious cyber attacks. While some of these tools may be easily accessible, others require programming expertise to fully utilize their functions, which Ryan adeptly describes. We do not condone or promote these products, but Ryan's expertise in navigating their boundaries and capabilities is noteworthy. In particular, Ryan clarifies the reality of the widely-discussed flipper tool, shedding light on the true potential and risks associated with its use. It is a sobering reminder of how vulnerable we are in the digital age and the need to take proactive steps to safeguard our personal data. Tune in to SRS EP. 056 with Ryan Montgomery to learn some simple yet effective ways to protect yourself.

What was your favorite tool from Ryan’s EDC and have you heard of any of them?
I liked the flipper
Whats the make and model of the bug detector? is it something he made or bought?
How about something to pick up tracking devices on vehicles.
EMF detector
Just the fact that he can custom build some of these things. This guy is an asset for sure
SHAWN PLEASE PLEASE DO MULTIPLE SHOWS WITH RYAN, WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DUDE.
Could not agree more!
Now is the time people our government is not here to save us, we have to save ourselves they are only here to control you and make more money and power, we as American people regardless of ethnicity, skin color, political beliefs, we need to set aside our differences and come together as one against the tyrany going on in this country, we need a new system that puts the people in charge of this country not these corrupt devil worshiping politicians that are in office, Blue, Red, Left wing, Right wing, democrats vs republicans, what ever side your on you need to realize that they are all on the same side and want us the American people to fight so they can stay in control and power, wake up people it’s better now then later when they have full control over us… I love you all and I hope we can change what’s going on in this country…..❤️
YES!!!!
Absolutely!!!
I could watch Shawn and Ryan all day. Ryan is full of knowledge.
He carries a lot between his ears too. Dude has thick skin to go where he goes and do what he does. Different set of EDC tools compared to the rest of us.
Right lol u could tell he isn't gonna carry that gun but it's okay some people aren't gun people I'm a veteren infantry and a felon so I can't hold weapons which sucks atleast for four more years then I'm definitely getting a gun
Brother is a SME
I like this guy, I honestly wish there was more people like him. I also think having a guy like him and a guy like Shawn on a team would be very dangerous lol.
Exactly, no way in hell could i go on a show and tell my story, not that its worth hearing but if it was lol. Dude has a confidence that most people would pay for with no training whats so ever. I respect the guy. Hes doing the lords work. 🙌
@@erickiyoshiphillips2323 how does a felon get the privilege to carry a gun back??
You’ve had some legit scary ass professionals as guests on your show, and Ryan is leaps and bounds the least physically intimidating yet the scariest one of them all.
That’s what I told my buddy yesterday, sent him the video and was like “tell me how the least threatening looking dude is literally the most dangerous guy I’ve seen on the show” lmao
Pepper spray keeps people blinded for a while, and you can hit multiple targets with one spray, too. Guns are thankfully have very strict laws against them in most of the world. Many areas have cops and others protecting businesses, schools, etc., unlike 'MuriKKKa. I was born and raised in infamous Miami, FL, USA, and thankfully left all three of those places. Non-lethal ammo exists, tie strap guns, more cameras, more mental health checks in society, fight against Big Pharma and their exposed lies, more exercise for people, teach martial arts to more people, more raids to find illegal guns, etc.

I see what you did there 😏
dude is a skid. and looks like a serial killer. meat head host is on the money when he said the skid is a danger.
This isnt a channel dedicated to cyber security, he may as well start his own channel. I have a feeling he is doing much more important shit on his own time than entertaining people on youtube lol
@@johnfisher8401 cyber security has nothing to do with vigilante hacking. This type of hacking is not ethical whatsoever!

When Shawn said “ I think you’re a lot more dangerous than that firearm I just gave you” I started dying laughing because I was thinking the exact same thing. 😂
Like giving John wick pepper spray
I dunno man, none of those gadgets are going to stop someone physically assaulting him. He should stay strapped.
@@Ephesians-yn8ux Eh. I don't think Shawn is saying he shouldn't carry or learn to defend himself. I think he's saying the threat he poses is far greater than a dude with a gun. You can always shoot a dude with a gun. If you don't know what this dude is doing, he could access your network and grab every important file off of your computer, install a key logger and steal your log in information, etc. Without knowledge of what he is doing, no one could stop him. What's a cop gonna do? Ask him to leave?
that was some truth. Ol boy can do WAY more damage than that sig
He’s like why would I carry this when I can ruin someone’s life in 2 seconds
It cheers me up to know that there are good guys like this out in the world trying to dismantle as much evil as possible. Good job giving him a way to protect himself! 🤘
I hope that more come around and join forces, and take down the offenders at the elite level. The Epsteins of the world.
I thought the same! was so happy seeing Shawn / Shawn's buddy give him a firearm to protect himself off the internet with! amazing
@TrapSquatch what'do you mean? He's got "Scrappy". Surely "Scrappy" is going to keep him safe after going on a podcast with millions of listeners with his real name, real face, city he lives in and admitting that he's the one releasing the names and destroying the lives of thousands of potential evil mentally ill freaks.
He could start rolling around in an uparmored Humvee with a .50 cal machine gun mounted on top and I'd still be terrified for his safety at this point.
There's a reason the people who do this kind of stuff for a living don't go on podcasts with their real names, faces and the city they live in.
He genuinely thinks having some guy that's good at fighting 1on1 fights in a cage is all the protection he needs.
He needs to replace "Scrappy" with some armed ex team guys. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find some trained killers to volunteer to help you out.
He needs to be carrying everywhere and wearing some kind of ballistic protection.
It's terrifying to me that he hasn't even seemed to consider how dangerous this is. These are evil people, who do evil things and you're hunting them and backing them into a corner. True life ending, career/family/world ending stuff. People have lost their lives for a lot less.
Please consider working with some real security. I don't think the world's best MMA fighter would cut it here, especially in Florida, where a lot of people have firearms.
Going on a podcast with your real name, your real face, the city your doing this stuff in. It's actually insane. The fact that the sick freaks you're catching aren't getting arrested or neutralized, should worry you. You're going to release all these names, most of whom you haven't 100% confirmed?
That's so dangerous man, not only for the fact that the potential to ruin innocent people's lives but the fact that you just told the world that you're the one who did it and you live in Florida. You're going to instantly become a target.
Please be careful. You're doing a great thing but you're acting so wreckless, that I'm genuinely afraid for your safety.
Please find some real security. Please get your CCW. Start taking security 100x more seriously.
Cause from watching the podcast, it almost seems like you don't even realize how much danger your putting yourself in here.
@@SaltNBatteryI can’t believe he doesn’t even carry a gun. All this power he has in the digital realm has taken him out of reality itself. The guy asked him about 3 times over at the beggining if he carries anything to protect yourself especially when coming face to face with these spooks? And he didn’t catch on the guy literally had to ask if he carrys a gun. Who knows maybe he’s so smart he acts like he’s unarmed so the ppl that go to attack him will go easy and be met with deadly force or stopped very easily bc he actually has weapons and guards. Idk. You are right though these freaks have all these cult like things going on there could easily and very likely be one to take this guy out. But they aren’t the brightest of ppl.
Yes but this type of hacking is not ethical and should not be described as ethical.
The guy not getting what Sean is asking about how he protects himself shows how focused he is on his mission in life.
Not worrying about his safety but the safety of others. Amazing. 👏👏👏👏
We need to protect this man at all costs.
He needs to protection. I think we would need protection from him lol.
He Work For CIA....
He seems like the nicest guy you can tell he was a little nervous, but I like his vibe you can tell he has a good heart and he’s out here doing gods work. Let me tell you.
He definitely seems to wear his heart on his sleeve. I recently saw a video where he visibly got upset while talking about a pedo ring and if I didn't already have tears streaming down my cheeks, that would have begun the water worlds. He's my #1 awesome person in the world, a true hero!
maybe because he was handed a gun, without asking for it
Oh yeah. Just a little socially awkward but beautiful soul.
He my man's really good friend and they chat on FT all the time (they are both awkward 😂) best kindest guys... super sweet.

Love your show Shawn!
As a techy guy myself (nowhere near this kids level) I'm absolutely getting a kick out of Shawn's reactions to this guys kit. Great episode!
Same lol
theres nothing more fun than dropping your cyberdeck on the table and having a bunch of non-hackers ohh and ahh and wonder at it lol
Him completely misunderstanding the question was so innocent of him 😂
Sean: what do you carry for EDC…
Him: oh you know stuff to break into wireless networks… stuff to open up garage doors… able to hack to wireless camera systems…
Sean: EDC… to protect yourself…..
-thinking to himself- “noooot to break into peoples homes, you fool”
Yah, pretty sure he is on the spectrum, and his hyperfixation is hunting child abuseres
The fact that he never even considered that one of the sick evil dirtbags he goes after might have a weapon isn't comforting. Dude needs to be walking around with a couple of armed operators, instead he thinks an MMA fighter is going to protect him from someone backed into a corner. As tough as this Scrappy person might be, we're talking about true life ending/world ending stuff here, with people who are already capable of horrific sh*t. The best fighter in the world isn't slipping a bullet the way they'd slip a punch.
Also the fact that he just seems to catch these dudes and yell at them, is kind of terrifying. Chris Hansen at least exposed them to the world and had LEO involved. That still didn't keep most of them from reoffending.
Now he's going on a podcast with 1.3 million subscribers on UA-cam with his full face and real name saying "this is what I do and this is what I've done. Here's where I'm doing it."
Like little brother, do you want to become a victim? People have lost their lives for a lot less.
What happened when he started pulling his toys out of his bag... Says more like... Shawn didn't understand the depth of the answer initially.
It is called high functioning autism

Keep this guy as a regular please Shawn, no one else will give this guy a platform but yourself, on the road to #1 podcast!
Two different professionals. Two different skill sets. Both have the same goal. I do believe you should do an all-pro episode featuring a group of such people. I loved this. I wonder how many different people you could have in the same space that have the same goal, and virtually zero crossover between skills.
Real life people kids can look up to, not grown men playing with differnt sports balls...
@@shaiapouf420 maybe not “just” professional athletes. Athleticism is an admirable trait. People who stand to do the right thing in the face of evil instead of profiting from it. Those are role models worth having. In my book, that makes Jesus(the Christ) the greatest of examples.
That would be an amazing series to do. A whole season.

@@jesseclutterbuck6617 tbh, after watching the full interview video I am very skeptical too. I am pretty well versed in the cyber sec space, but primarily work as a full stack web dev - so I am not an expert on the matter. This guy seems like he is really trying to just funnel medium & small businesses to his SaaS product - which btw is extremely underwhelming & not as described. Him saying "we have a bigger database of breach data to reference than anyone else, I am sure of it" is what started me to take a look at things from a critical viewpoint. Also, this dude has some weird background details he is leaving out - for example, he used to go by the username Ryan Rohypnol (aka the date rape drug)... which is pretty disturbing for someone campaigning as an ally against child sex abuse.
This guy is VERY dangerous to certain segments of our society. He better constantly watch his back for the"random act of violence," car wrecks, and the last, of course, is "suicide." I can't believe there is not a bounty on his head. Ryan keep fighting the fight, and Shawn, thanks for this episode!

Very awesome video!
I personally like the dual use 'Hack RF1' device but my favorite device was the 'TroganUSB' because it exploits human curiosity alongside the stupidity of the average human.
As someone who was in IT working with local residents, businesses, and before health issues knocked me out of the game was lead tech at a local school district, I know it's important to educate the public. The more we integrate technology into our everyday lives the more we open our lives up to anyone with the knowledge to access it.
Never thought having computers instigated into your vehicle was a great idea. The majority of issues I've ever had since my first truck, which was a 94 Chevy s10, has all been 'sensors'. The mechanical parts of the engine were functioning as intended but the sensor thought it wasn't so guess what, it didn't. Funny how replacing the defective sensor fixed the engine.. so we added the costs of a computer and all of the sensors required to run it just so that we could have more things to go wrong more often? And now with wireless locks, door openers, and everything else for our 'smart lives' we just handed the keys to anyone in the know. And I'm just as guilty as everyone else..
I had several clients ask me "how can we stop it or prevent it from happening again?". I would tell them you have to have a closed network where everything is hardwired so that in order to access the information they would have to be inside to do so. If you had to have something that connected to the outside world that it would be a separate network that could be limited and controlled to prevent breaches of the most sensitive systems and information. Unfortunately that takes time and adds considerable costs under most circumstances. It's just the risk versus reward aspect of life. I do the same thing at my house too. Even though I should know better, I no longer have the physical capability to run all the wires myself nor the money to pay someone else to do it for me meaning I run a pretty extensive wireless network myself because "It's easier".
Like your vehicle or your house or anything for that matter every time you add something to make it easier for yourself you make it easier for others to exploit. It's a shame the world is like that but we're all human. For all the pleasant, caring, and giving there is just as much heartless, careless, greedy creatures too..
OMG, he is so freaking cool and seriously scary with how smart he is. The world needs more people like this fighting on the side of good.

He's proof that you don't need to spend absurd amounts of money going to college to become successful. Never confuse an education with intelligence.
Ryan: Do you have your keys on you?
Shawn: Um, no, do you have yours? 😬
Another GREAT episode. Thanks to Ryan and Shawn!
I love that he accepted the gun like it was any other gift, regardless of his knowledge or stance on firearms
Most of the devices he could show might put him in legal trouble so what he showed and demonstrated is nowhere near his top tools or capacity. Cant show all your cards on the table ^^
What a gift! Hope he takes the time to get proper gun training and learn all gun etiquette 🙏
I really hope he carries the sig. He’s putting himself in situations where he needs to at least have the option available to him.
If he's brown hatting and confronting and it ends in a use of deadly source situation, he can still be prosecuted as the "agitator" of the situation
