Great job Martyn.. Those few mods and replacement valves make that amp a serious contender at that price point. Lovely playing by the way !

Let's hear it for the Clean Tone! The true Mark of a good amp and a good player. And that's no BS.
This amp sounded great. Of course the pick-ups on your guitar and those tasty licks probably had something to do with it too.
Thanks alot, really appreciate the guidance on amplifier repair. Have a good weekend and take care.

Yeah, people disregard tube ratings all the time. Everything EXCEPT the input capacitance of a rectifier!
Great job sorting this thing out! That hardware shorting issue might be on all of them. It's something to look for.

Thanks Matt. It should be more reliable now. And getting rid of the cheap Chinese tubes should also help with reliability. Take care Matt

Psionic Audio worked on a Mesa amplifier recently that had a pair of 220 microphone capacitors in series for a total of 110 mfd on the first filter node of a tube-rectified amplifier. Not smart!

That turned out great. Wouldn't be nessasary but I wonder if a vox style narrow turret board would fit in there?
I've recently built a couple 5f2a type amps and added a nfb pot . Goes from 5k to 100k. Was a pretty fun mod I saw uncle doug do.
    Cheers!

Hello. I was sat thinking that last night. The Burman Pro 501 that I am working on has the same boards. I have seen the feedback mod Uncle Doug does on some amps. He's a great tech. I always enjoy single ended amp builds. I need to get building some more soon. Take care.

I have to same amp and I love the tone. I don't know anything about electronics so I cannot change it myself. Would it be wise to have these mods done by an amp tech or would this be too expensive and should I just play it as long as it lasts ?

Hello. I would just use it as it is. It might run for a good few years. You can always have the mods done if it fails. It also depends on how much you use it. If you are only using it three or four hours a week, then it's not worth having it modded. Thanks for watching and take care.

The audio is extremely static and noisy for some reason; sounds very much like the pouring rain on the skylight above my head as I watch this.

I said at the start of the video that it was raining. It's rained so much we have floods here.

Addendum : I missed the first couple of seconds where you said the noise was due to the rain on the roof, which is exactly what's going on here in New England at the moment! Anyway, the rain noise is lessened by the time you did the playing test, and the amp sounds surprisingly good! Glad the EZ80 worked out well for this amp.

@@vintageguitaramp_guitarteacher , yeah, I missed the first couple secs of the video the first time i watched it , and I posted an updated response about ten seconds before you replied! Sirry to hear about your flooding; my house is up high on a ridge, surrounded by thirsty oak trees, and so I am well protected from flooding. Its pouring hard right now and the skylights above ny head make the house reverberate with the sound. The worst part of this type of weather is getting the 3 dogs to go outside to do their "business"! We have a dog door and a fenced yard and they are normally able to go outside whenever they want, but in this weather I have to leash them, grab an umbrella and escort them, to make them go out to pee. And then when we get back in the house we need to towel the dogs off. Sometimes I have to towel myself off as well!
