    Hi Ryan. I really really appreciate the time you take to make and post these videos. People like you, who are totally selfless sharing your knowledge and experience with us who can't afford school, are so important to people like me. You said you like to do whatever to save a buck. I am a model builder and instead of an Exacto knife I have been using a scalpel. They are sharper than an Exacto blade and I get 100 of them individually wrapped for $10 and you get a free handle. Amazon is the place. I hope this can help contribute a little back into your studio for all the value you have saved us.

      😁👍 just be sure to apply the urathane paint last. Or any water based paints you try to put over a urathane paint will literally disappear as the clear coats are applied! The clear will pull the urathane paints through the water based acrylics. just a little F.Y.I. 🤘😎

    General Crewchief checking in. Lol. Anyways, I have a stack of transparency film from back in the day when school used actual overhead projectors. Cuts really well, I just print a template, tape it to the back, and cut away. However you have to be careful on curves. Try to pull the cut without stopping and starting, you'll get little "square" spots that will show up when you spray. You can find transparency film sometimes at garage sales, schools that have old stock, even office supply stores will clearance them out. Bonus tip: I used to pay top dollar for "frisket" film labeled as frisket. Well with a Michael's coupon for $5 I have found this stuff called "Magic Cover". It's not labeled as a frisket, but as a cheap way to laminate stuff when you don't have a lamination machine. It's got a 1" grid backing paper to help cut it square, is super clear, super thin, and cuts really well, is archival acid free on the adhesive, and has the perfect amount of tack. Comes in 18" width and you get a crap ton. Doesn't crinkle like some other frisket, is easy to lay down bubble free with a putty knife, and restickable if you need to place a section back.

    • @BloodShotAirbrushing
      @BloodShotAirbrushing  5 років тому

      Thanks broski!! Once again your Intel is Amazing!! All great info!! I've also heard of people using the access cut off lamination pieces as well. You can get these from schools or even library's!! 😁👍 I mostly wanted to show that you can find this stuff anywhere, if you look!! 😀And you provided some more great examples my friend!! Another awesome money saving hack ! Sometimes you get lucky at the 99 cent store or dollar store , you can purchase page protectors, they're clear , flexible, and. Are sold in multiple packs for only 99 cents + tax , I not only use them for stencils, I purchased a projector just like the ones we had in school, you draw on a clear piece of acetate, say a math problem, a light bulb shines up from the base and is captured by a magnifying glass then it's bent and directed toward the chalk board, and then with a few minor adjustments it clears right up and the whole class can see the math problem !
    In my case I can sketch my outlines and enlarge or reduce the image to suit my needs ,and I found the projector in a thrift store for $8.00 bucks! I love it it saves so much time , I make mutipul copies out of paper and a master out of page protectors to put in the customers file , sometimes stuff happens and needs to be redone or touched up! My motto is C.Y.A. Ryan ,Broskie you might pass this little tid bit of info on to the army , I'm sure most of the army can come up with 99cents +tax IF they were not blessed with clear packaging from Christmas , and it can be a little embarrassing to get busted going through your neighbors trash trying to harvest clear plastic for stencil material Lol! I live in a retirement community and the gossip,and talking behind ones back blows harder and faster than the Santa Ana winds that come to southern California every winter, some people have nothing better to do than talk crap about you when your not in eye sight or hearing range, but act like they're your best friend when you are around them ! That's why I can't be caught trash picking looking for clear packaging to make stencils! I don't need friends like the majority of tennants that live here, I try not to make eye contact and mind my own business, they know I'm an artist and that's all they need to know.

    Ryan could you please guide me thru the fields of thinners, reducers to the brand you find to be the ones you use more or less?
    As a beginner I’m finding hard to select the ones that I should get and stay with as well as should I start with quarts or by the gallon?
    I would also like to know where you gets and mixing cups and paper products and masking tapes blue, yellow and plastic covering.
    I know that this is a lot to ask but I want to start off right.

    Hey brother, loving the videos, just getting back into airbrushing as a complementary addition to my leatherwork, your hack regarding paint thinners/ cleaning , what is " fantastick" I'm unlucky enough to live in the UK, and such a thing doesn't exist here, could it be plain old simple " dishwasher liquid", or could it be clothes detergent, ??? Art supplies over here cost an arm and a leg, so any way to save a bob or two helps a lot, I did try the, " chemical/alcohol / glycerine root, but naahh, not for me.

    One more question what kind of clearcoat do you use on your items that are going to be exposed to sunlight. I saw a video where the guy stated if you use acrylic paint once it is exposed to sunlight it will fade away after a year or so?..

    • @BloodShotAirbrushing
      @BloodShotAirbrushing  5 років тому +2

      All my artwork is sandwiched between layers of automotive urathane clears. Just like if I had a new tank to add artwork to. Sand the urathane clear coat with 600 grit wet sandpaper. Spray the art, then reclear with automotive urathanes! Sand with 1200 grit to remove any imperfections in the clear, and polish. I have projects that I painted over a decade ago and still look great! Never had any issues with paint fading.... this is the first time I'm actually hearing this.... 🤔 mind you, we prolly get more snow then sun up here in the Great White North...🤓😉 but still.. I dont forsee any issues when doing it this way!! It's worked great for me for decades!!🤘😎

    Hey Ryan man, thanks for the video. Just wondering if you ever considered getting a cricut or silhouette? It's a plotter basically, and the explore air 2 is capable of doing stencils 12"×24". Could do them out of paper or light stick vinyl which would be ultimate when stenciling a curved object. theres a little bit of a learning curve with the software but once you get it figured out, cutting anything is easy. Also, with transfer paper, you can use the positive or negative stencil, whichever you want.
    Gonna pick up a bloodshot stencil set soon to support the channel. The videos are invaluable for anyone starting airbrushing.

    Happy New Year my captain! Here's a hack I didn't see in the comments. Draw or print your template,shield or stencil on regular printer paper (or print it off). Then use packing tape edge to edge and tape up one or both sides of your paper. Trim it down, and U now have something as least at durable as your thinnest plastic. - Rick

    • @BloodShotAirbrushing
      @BloodShotAirbrushing  5 років тому +1

      I find the best way is to keep the airbrush spraying head on and avoid spraying at low or shallow angles. Also try not to spend to much time going over an area, I find it's best to get the paint laid down quickly and move on to the next area. This will help prevent "underspray" as well!! 😁 I hope this helps you out my friend!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎

    @bubukis 5 років тому +1

    Inspired by you I'm playing with my new toys - airbrush and compressor. Thank you so much for that, I'm having A LOT of joy! I'm good enough with painting, just never used airbrush before.
    Are you known with the effect where when you finish the airbrush stroke and close the ink flow by the airbrush trigger - the airbrush always produces the last splash of paint? I can even paint dots just slightly pulling the trigger back (where there is still no ink flowing) and then releasing the trigger - and I'm getting dots just by this trigger-release movement... Looks like the needle squeezes out some amount of paint from nozzle channel when moving forward to "flow closed" position. Is it normal for all airbrushes, or is it just mine? How could I fix it? Or is it just the thing I need to learn how to deal with?..:)

    • @BloodShotAirbrushing
      @BloodShotAirbrushing  5 років тому +1

      Hmmmm.... hard to say.. could simply be a bit of paint left behind that gets trapped, then shot out as the needle is returning to its position in the nozzle... could be the the needle/nozzle aren't seated properly due to a bend in the needle tip, flare in the nozzle end or even a bit of dried paint. 🤔 really hard to say with out being able to physically see it.... you may have to remove the needle/nozzle and clean the really good then make sure they're seated properly and hopefully that gets ya going! I hope this helps you out my friend!😁 Glad to have ya on Deck in the BloodShot ARMY! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!! 🤘😎

      @bubukis 5 років тому +1

      Thank you for the tips! I really appreciate you've replied.:)
      If I find the solution to this - I'll post it here. Everything is sealed properly, I've even applied some marine-grease to the threads when re-assembled it, but I have one suspicion: I see the nozzle does not stick out of the nozzle cap at all, it is flat with it... As I've seen before is should stick out just a tiny bit, for proper paint suction. Will try to fix this, and I'll report here if this fixed the issue - just to fill your knowledge base by possibly one more tip..;)
      Thanks again for all your really interesting and inspirational videos! Love your attitude.:)

    • @bubukis
      @bubukis 5 років тому +1

      I've found the solution to this finally: bought Badger Sotar 2020-2F.:)) No such problems anymore.
      I have not been able to figure out the exact reason of the "trigger release" issue with the previous one, I think it's just the whole low quality of the cheap Chinese airbrush - I cleaned it, I polished the needle and the nozzle, I shortened the aircup (so that the nozzle protrudes a little bit more)... the problem is still there.
      But with my new airbrush - it's just smooth like butter.

      @user-tm1yb9fl2d the plastic can be found in packaging of items. Just try to make sure it's not too thin, like a plastic bag.. any clear plastic that has some stiffness should do. This is probably a dumb question, why do you keep those stencils if you only use them once? I guess everyonce in a while you do use them again?

      I wouldn't want to ball them and throw them into the trashcan myself after working so hard to cut them.

      Well then🤔
      ...
      ..
      .
      That was fairly rude and uncalled for.... don't you think? 🤔🤨 in a world overflowing with hate, why add more? Why would you go out of your way to make a negative comment about a complete stranger.. 😐😑 I'm not sure what's going on in your life that you think that bringing others down will in some way bring you up? 🤨🤔😁 Instead, why not spread some positivity and see how you feel. ❤😀👌 because here is the thing my friend, going around casting judgment and insults upon others who you have never met... Will always say more about you, then the person you're trying to belittle. 🤔😁 some food for thought broski! 😁👍I'm all for constructive criticism. If it involves bettering the channel. 👍 But if you're just trying to pick on me... 😉😊let me tell ya, I'm completely comfortable with who I am!🤘😎 I see no reason to change! I laugh because I'm happy. 😀👍 I'm basking in positive vibes my friend!!!~~~❤~~~ Negativity drains, but Positivity Reigns!😀 I hope you take this into consideration before your next interaction with a complete stranger. 🤞😁 Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🍻🤘😎
      Sending positive vibes your way my friend!!~~~❤~~~
