Just catching up on this project. Nice work getting the R running again, but if the engine is from a Turbo, then surely this isn't an R anymore? Turbo was 220bhp, R was 250. Or have you swapped all the bits you needed to make the Turbo an R? Presumably the manifold and the turbo from the R and the ECU and ignition system.
Appreciate you catching up! So as far as the United States market goes, the turbo cars are mechanically identical to the R. Engine, turbo, manifolds, injectors, etc. Everything is the same, the only difference for this market is that the ECU in the R boosts up an extra few psi to get the car up to 240hp. The only differences in our market for these cars are basically cosmetic! So the R remains an R 😉
What a shame that gold car had to get killed for this. That car was gorgeous too. If you can, try and make it whole again and sell it. It’ll stay out of the crusher, provide someone years of reliable service, and recoup some of your money. That car was too nice to crush. Please
