It was 13 November 2004 festival of light Dipawali was celebrating all over the world and the very next day festival of Eid ul Fiter was .
Pakistan played very well and they spoiled the celebration of Dipawali but they deserve that .
Salman But was a good player and a clean hitter of white ball but unfortunately he vanished his carrier by his own hand . He may be the highest run getter for Pakistan if he played his game honestly and cleanly . Inzmam Sir also played splendid . Such a impact player he was I have no words to define the standard of his personality .
Those were the golden days of Cricket between India and Pakistan . Both teams were came and goes to each other country to play Cricket .
That was the memorable and unforgotten time for the Lovers of India Pakistan Cricket .

I am from Bangladesh. I can remember on that day my father brought our TV after reconditioning it. After that we enjoyed that game. Moreover, Ramadan month was going on that month. If I am not wrong the match was held in November 13, 2004! Salman Butt made enormous hundred and S Malik and Inzi supported him well. Comfortable win for Pakistan. I enjoyed Yuvis scintillating knock but he was undone. Actually fog came early in Kolkata so that Indian bowlers did not get any advantage at night time

Don't forget win defeated india in kitply Triangular tornament FINAL in Bangladesh in 2008 when younis Khan and salman Butt racked up match winning centuries.
And then In 2017 OCC champions trophy Final in England we defeated a much stronger Indian team by a whopping 180 runs.
Overall record since 2003 up till now in head to head ODIs is not massively in favour of indian team as you remarked.

We will say however that in icc Cricket World cups you hold the upper hand as our team for strange reasons has failed to break the jinx in world Cup matches but outside of world Cup the results are not in favour of India massively.

That was a chand raat in Pakistan 2004. I remember the announcement of moon sighting after it. Dad's eyes were stick to the television while my mom was running all over the paces because of the pending house chores before Eid. The next day after Eid Prayers, i was at my Gradpa's place reading the news paper that Pakistan scurried an urgent emergency operation for taking all the Pakistani players back to Pakistan from Kolkata within 4 hours just because of Eid. What a day it was, Eid and Pakistan Victory over India.

Good old days. I was 9 years old. Those were the days when India and Pakistan played plenty of cricket with each other. Before this match Pak had defeated Ind in the ICC Champions Trophy 2004. Salman Butt scored his maiden hundred. Classic knock from Yuvraj Singh as well.

inzi has punked india in india many a times. he did that in 2006 series too where india were firm favorites. he takes his time and once he figures you out it is over. normally you try to not to figure him out. a classic poker player. he dont plan much but he is mostly in-game kind of player. so he is more hands-on! I always loved him chasing. you can say better than javed miandad.

I remember this match was played on the eve of Eid ul Fitr and while Pakistan was chasing I prayed to Allah that please help. A defeat would have ruined the Eid. Besides, Inzi was going nowhere at the start, clueless about short ball. He then delayed his stroke play, adjusted himself and went on to score 75 with a strike rate of 100.

I can't forgotten these moments when a young boy make a historic and Mark able innings at Eden gardens Kolkata with their arch rival India , this young boy knock helps Pakistan team to chase down this huge target at the front of more then 80 thousands peoples, and make our eid Ul fitar more celebration❤🎉🎉🎉

I don't agree with you. GANGULY lost his form completely after WC 2003. Inspite of that his attitude showed he was very much self satisfied never really gone that extra mile to perform as par INTERNATIONAL level. Harbhajan though a good bowler felt he need not improve as his big bro GANGULY was there. LAXMAN never done justice to his ODI career.

The time between 2003 to 2007 was a golden window of opportunity for India-Pakistan to mend their differences and unite in spirit and passion (even if not territorially ). Today both countries are ruled by fear, bigotry, and an unprecedented hatred that threatens to annihilate each other. May good sense prevail!
This is how they generated revenue then! If there was no Ipl now, India would still play Pakistan! No matter what the political situation! You shouldn’t forget your roots , no matter how big you get! These kind of contests is what made players like dhoni, tendulkar and yuvraj and players like yousuf younis and Malik! In Salman butt Pakistan had a very good opener for the next 10 years , if hadn’t done what he did! Maybe with him in the team they would have won the 2011 World Cup! He has 5 odi hundreds vs india! One-off ODIs are rare as they are, and never had I witnessed such hype around one game. India-Pakistan games created a bigger buzz back in the day than they do at present. Since 2004, India has become one of the best teams in the world while Pakistan has seen a dramatic decline, but one thing both teams have lost is players of great character. In my opinion, only Dhoni and Kohli are comparable to the India-Pakistan legends of the 1990s and 2000s decades.
