- I come to you, hollow and cold
Everyday my story untold
My name’s Sergei and I have my own way
To tell you of my brother Strahd
I have fond pasts memories of a boy
But then I think of the winter years
His cruelness, his malice, her tears.
His deathly gaze, his grasp of ice
Long has he died, yet never at night
Everything isn’t as it seems
The shadows they’ll strangle you in foreign trees
There is no hope, but if you find luck
Perhaps you can free me and my love
We wander this land beneath his dark hand
…. Free us… and you’ll be blessed.
I thank you. - Ігри
One of the players in my Curse of Strahd game is a Warlock. His patron is Sergei's ghost. Each night, the ghost emerges and sings a part of this song.
Edit: Just to clarify, the warlock doesn't know (yet) that said patron is Sergei, only that it is some kind of ghost that was wronged by some foul individual (who the party suspects to be Strahd, but theorizes might also be some individual in the Amber Temple).
Oooh I love this
Update:
The party fought Strahd at the Abbey of Saint Martkovia when he tried to take Irena. While they fought, the ghost of Sergei materialized again (that's the theming for the spells: they're not spells, just the ghost appearing and doing things) and Strahd remarked "after all this time, brother." After the fight, the warlock tried to ask Sergei what Strahd meant. However, the ghost of Sergei has been lost for so long and has forgotten everything, but remembers "my old blade." The party is now searching for the sunsword to try and restore Sergei's memories.
This is so hauntingly beautiful! I'm in a Curse of Strahd campaign right now and it was just revealed that my character, who is romancing Ireena, is the reincarnation of Sergei.
I absolutely love this song. I play this for my players under certain conditions.
(mild spoilers, see below)
So there's a trinket on the gothic trinket table that my players ran into. The box that hums a tune that no one remembers in the morning. Whenever any of my players are awake for it, I play this for them once. They absolutely love it. Since they're not allowed to look up the lyrics, they've been scrambling to write it down before they forget since I only play it once. They think it's really cool. I've played it as a little bit of Sergei's spirit haunting the box to warn people but Strahd placed a curse on the box to make people forget.
This is why I’m subscribed and always will be. Holy shit Bard! Chills. I had headphones on and those creepy breaths made me really feel like I was there. Mind if I use this in my campaign. Just wow!!!!
Tyran Morrison please do, let your people know about me should they ever require my services. I’m always happy to give your stories a little more life.
This, this is absolutely lovely
Cornelius Geekdom I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it my friend. As always. :)
Sir Bard, you're a god :D thank you. I loved it.
Zynthos haha , all Dungeon Masters could claim such. But tonight I’m just a Bard that thought your idea was brilliant. I hope I got across the feeling you were searching for.
Natural 1 I would love to hear more bardic songs based on lore, heroes, and monsters from you sir! That says it all :D .
Seriously amazing work man !!!!
SamKirchner Acapella I appreciate that more than you know. Even if my song reached just one person and it resonated with the story they were looking to tell, Id call it a win. Thank you for stopping by friend.
I plan to use this at the Shrine of the White Sun in Kresk, before my players find the Tome of Strahd which is hidden there. I think this really emphasizes how this is "Sergei's own way of telling of his brother"
That sounds great! I send my luck to your players haha
@@Natural1official OH MY GOD THANK YOU...M
So I listened to your whole audio playlist and I've subscribed. Your work is excellent. Do you take requests?
Raven Zeal I sure do. And thank you for listening. So, Raven, tell me a story.
Natural 1 , I'm honored.
So, the game was Storm King's Thunder and my companions and I were collecting treasures of important to giant culture. We had just discovered a strange boulder that we found could shrink. We were just climbing aboard the airship we had came in when a Fire Giant in ebony armor came to challenge us. The ship rose up to be out of the reach of the giant's flaming shields, splinting the party. Most of us were on the ground but one of my party mates and I were on the ship. I was playing my current favorite character, a dark haired half-elf bard named Sebastion. He has a poem in his heart and lightning in his eyes, a bit foppish clad in purple. However of more interest is my party mate who was playing a Crossbow toting huntress named Eileen. She was a woman of few words but a renown dragon slayer. As the fight drew into a worrisome length, and our party began to fear death it became apparent that our arrows and spells were of little help to our friends below. That is when it came to me. I pulled the stone from my bag and lined up the drop. The stone grew and the massive boulder pinned the giant down so our fighter could put the fool in the ground. It was a few nights later that Sebastion would finally muster the courage to court Eileen, who had that day finally seen that even tho he was 'just' a poet, he could fight as well as any man.
Sorry to be a bit long winded there. That's the story of one of my favorite sessions as Sebastion the Bard. I hope it was at the very least an interesting read.
Raven Zeal more then that I have my next song. ;)
I'm honored and will wait with baited breath. :)
Raven Zeal just had a little bit of free time and came up with some lyrics I’m about halfway done. Now I just need to find time to record it. I’m excited for you to hear it.
Dude. Just.
Dude...
I hope that’s a good “dude” haha
@@Natural1official Good? I got goosebumps, dude...
