These are cadets. It is a girl at the top. I think she is the first female to take on the role of 'Button Boy' which is the round thing she stood on at the top of the mast. When she ran to the 'top brass' it was to complete the ceremony. She was given, and had to drink it down in one gulp, the Royal Navy's traditional drink of 'a tot of rum. They use to do this on board a sailing ship, so its a bit 'easier' on dry land even though it looks very windy on this day.
not cadets but serving regulars that maybe in training. Manning the mast was a ceremonial way of entering harbour. As seen in this video. Manning during sail unfurling was completely different
she was the first female button boy in the history of the Royal Navy. A very proud and monumental moment. Something that other nations do not allow females to do.
I did this in 1977 at the Queen's jubilee event in Bristol. They ruined it and made it this, safe so girls could do it. We had to spread along each crosspole, standing on the ropes, not the wood, and then each sail had to be lowered correctly using ropes and pulleys. I did speak to Prince Philip so not so bad. I think you mist enjoy Bottom Ultraviolence,Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. 𝘖𝘕𝘌 𝘗𝘏𝘖𝘕𝘌 𝘛𝘖 𝘙𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘔 𝘈𝘓𝘓, 𝘖𝘕𝘌 𝘚𝘌𝘈𝘙𝘊𝘏 𝘛𝘖 𝘍𝘐𝘕𝘋 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘔, 𝘖𝘕𝘌 𝘛𝘞𝘌𝘌𝘛 𝘛𝘖 𝘉𝘙𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘔 𝘈𝘓𝘓, 𝘈𝘕𝘋 𝘐𝘕 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘊𝘏𝘈𝘛𝘙𝘖𝘖𝘔 𝐁𝐈𝐍𝐃 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘔. wake up!
You should try and find the Royal Navy Neptune Ceremony to react to man! One of the most surrealist things you'll see still in a Modern Armed force! Lol
