Again, very nice video quality. What camera and lens are you using? Thanks!

A Sony FDR-AX100. It's a 4K camcorder, on auto setting. I've been using it for school plays as well but manually set it.

Thanks Tbone Smith! I record all my Son's basketball games and also some Volleyball, Cheer, and Soccer. I had been using my Canon 5DmarkIII, with manual focus, but then can only pan, no zoom. Want to upgrade to 4K for greater detail, but worried about low light and wide enough angle as some of the gyms are very dark, and some very small. Concerned AX53's small sensor size would be too noisy in darker gyms. I have 1080p Sony Camcorder with small sensor that is awful in gyms. Looks like AX100 would be ok based on your videos, though a little concerned if it is wide enough. Can't get Sony a6300 or other due to overheating issues with long record times. Unless I get external recorder, which is more complexity. Panasonic GH4 or new G85 are potential options and if I wait, maybe the new GH5, but I don't really want to wait. Would also be nice to have LANC or similar type of tripod remote controls. Don't think AX100 sports this, nor do most of the other options. Thanks again and please reply if you have any other wisdom to share!

Check the play videos on my channel for an example of the low light performance of the AX100. I think it's stellar. I've shot on my DSLR, in fact the "Little Mermaid" videos were shot on my 7D, but between the manual focus and overheating, it's just not practical for an entire show. As far as wide angle, it's been wide enough for my purposes.
I'm pretty happy with this camcorder for live action shooting.
One last note, you can always rent some of the gear your thinking about buying from lensrentals.com. That's how I found the AX100.

The RENT video is amazing!!! a significant improvement over Music Man. I assume, you learned how to use the manual settings better as you gained experience, or maybe the lighting was better in RENT, but I don't think it is lighting related. I am also impressed how the camera is able to keep focus not only in low light, but also in low light when your primary subject is not in the center of the scene, and while zooming in and out.
Thanks for the suggestion on renting. I will take a look at their pricing and decide if I should rent or just go for it.
      Happy filming!!!
