Jason Todd contracts were already being drafted for Jr long before the ‘07 Texas race. Over on Jr’s channel he talks about it, it’s worth a watch if you can find it.
Well they actually changed the rules to limit the age to 18 so he actually had to quit racing in Nascar for a while. He was the only one that young that had ever advanced that far.
This is proof that even the best drivers have to start somewhere, that a driver can be talented, but experience (and nowadays money sadly) is a supplement that allows that talent to be realized.
I was a Kyle Busch fan even back then. I always recreated this car on Nascar 2005 Chase for the Cup at since Carquest was a sponsor in create a car lol
Jesus Christ..... as a Hendrick Fanatic, this was hard to watch. It’s a shame that the beautiful 84 scheme wasn’t running beautiful on track. The only bright side is that there’s diecasts of it (although it’s rare as hell), and it was part of Herbie Fully Loaded
I mean you do kinda have to give hendrick some slack, it was an R&D car, R&D cars arent as fast as primaries because their only part time cars and just were used as either developing up and coming talent, or running for data on how to improve the car. I know back in the mid to late 2000's the big teams ran an extra car on some occasions for their test driver or busch series driver (like here). I think Terry ran the 44 for hendrick for testing purposes after he went part time. But since the 4 car rule is in effect we probably wont get any R&D cars any time soon.
I'm pretty sure the 44 team was the same team as the 84, but Hendrick got permission from Petty Enterprises to use the number that year and a few races in 2006. They also ran an R&D car later in the decade as the 25 for Keselowski and I think in 2015 for Chase Elliot, but I don't think it has any relation with the 84 entry
Kyle Busch was actually supposed to debut in 2002 with Roush Racing as a teammate to Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth, but NASCAR then instituted the 18-year old rule because Winston was the sponsor of the Cup Series at the time (he had been thrown out of an event at 15 by CART officials because Marlboro was a series sponsor), sending him back to late models (Busch would have debuted at 16); a prior settlement prevented minors from participating in events sponsored by cigarette companies.
Idea for you: "Nascar's Failed Experiments". Telling the stories like this one or Joey Logano of a driver who goes to a team to start their career and does poorly but then goes somewhere else and does much better/immaculately.
It was a very afterthought team. As much as I loved him in the 5, his best move by far was the move to the 18 and a team that actually funded their teams equally and didn't just focus on 2 of the 4.
@Elite Soulfly he was let go by Hendrick because of his attitude problems at the time. Him going to JGR was his move. He chose to accept the offer and it wasn't a "reluctant move." The 18 was absolutely garbage before Busch took over and then got 8 wins that season, which is 2x what he got in his entire time at Hendrick.
@@DerrickRG he didn't wreck that many cars. It had 100% to do with his attitude at the time. Black Flags Matter are you gonna cover some more Bobby LaBonte at some point? He was my favorite driver growing up and tbh hes one of the drivers ive heard the least about but that green on red interstate battery scheme still is one one of my favorite liveries nascar has ever had
Another driver Ford invested in to have Hendrick tell them Ford is holding them back. In '93, Gordon's rookie season, he hit everything that moved. Another driver Ford invested in, only to leave because "someone" told him he was ready, and shouldn't wait on Ford's plan. Now Gibbs is signing 14 year olds to stop others from getting them once they have matured, and are ready. The difference is if they don't produce right away, they don't find out why. JGR just tosses them to the side of the road.
Given how bad the 84 car was, I wonder if some fans thought, "why is he being hired to drive the 5 car when he hasn't even had a top 20 finish?" While we know how good Kyle Busch is these days, it wasn't so clear during those days
The number did changed to 44 when Terry Labonte took over this ride for 2005 & 2006 in a limited effort. It wasn’t used again until 2008 & 2009 with Brad Keselowski behind the wheel with #25, & it hasn’t been used since Chase Elliott in 2015 when he ran 5 races. Also the #84 hasn’t run a Cup race since November 2011 at Homestead with Cole Whitt.

The Truth is though learning where this line/edge is the only way to be successful. like Jr Johnson said about Cale Yarborough and all of his crashing. " once he gets it out of his system he will be just fine.". It is also why those that never do this will never be successful and will always just be "riders". I promise you this is the case, but I am sure the car was not up to standards and he was probably trying t o take a 25th place car and make it top 10. some drivers have "it". Larson has "it" and hopefully he gets a second chance. Drivers that "never" want to walk this line , toe the edge or find the maximum will never be any good. Jeff Burton said it is much easier to teach somebody to slow down than to teach someone to race near the "edge". It is simply what separates the drivers at this level.

Watching Kyle drive the car quest car is nostalgia
Orange Striker Gaming ....wow, first comment I see under this vid is yours, and I can't recall ever feeling as old as I do after having read it...that's just swell 👍....lol
Jeez i forgot Kyle was part of HMS lol

From being stuck in the worst Hendrick car ever.
To winning two Championships
Still kinda wondering why they let Kyle go?
He bailed out on them at Texas 2007
Oscar jr Jimenez how come?

Nascar 06 Hendrick Drivers
#5: Kyle Busch
#24: Jeff Gordon
#25: Brian Vickers
#44: Terry Labonte
#48: Jimmie Johnson
Brought back some good and bad memories of a video game
Especially with that 44 of Terry Labonte I'm still trying to this day figure out how he got such a big points lead in The Chase to where I had to literally take control of his car and forced him to pit so anyone else would have a fair shot at the championship
Ethan Whisman I WOULD DO THAT TOO HAHAHA
@@ethanwhisman1277 I used all 5 (Gordon Johnson Vickers Labonte Busch) in TTC
@@DupontandLowesWarrior yeah but I like to drive my own car I didn't I didn't want to take away from Jeff's assessed now don't don't get me wrong I did drive Jeff's Car to the front and Jimmy's Car to the front a couple times at the end of the day I I drove my car with with whatever number I can find
For me I was supposed to buy the team so I can stop Terry Labonte from winning the championship by just a ridiculous points advantage I don't even know how he got that many points why I don't remember
But I like the team control stuff but I actually liked NASCAR 05 better 1 cars just felt a lot looser to me which fits my driving Style it was also a lot harder. When on the super speedway races I can't remember my other point oh yeah I love the fact that I could attempt to date Tony Stewart in the making of I could piss off Tony Stewart just for laughs and giggles
Did anybody else ever piss off Tony Stewart just for fun
Mean I always did make up with Tony Stewart before we got to the before we got to Talladega into Daytona because I needed him to be an ally cuz I know he's one of the best I'm super speedway Racers out there the 20 car does go to the front do you have to beat Dale jr. Who better to be pushing you than Tony Stewart or Bobby Labonte that was NASCAR 04 though
One of them games eliminated Pocono from the schedule all together I can't remember which one and you know what them games actually made Pocono fun the newer games makes Pocono miserable just saying I enjoyed racing around the tricky triangle on the older yay NASCAR games then I do the newer NASCAR games I don't know why

2:57 Andy Belmont huh? I wonder if he's related to Trevor...
He had a pretty big flip in ARCA at Daytona
Ironically, Hendrick decided to release him, keeping.... Casey Mears.
Casey Queers lol
Doing this for all the major teams? I’m excited
This the number Jimmie driving next year with a Hendrick related team probably, I don’t see him retiring after all the stuff that’s happened recently
Nah, trust me, as long as Jimmie is in Hendrick, that 48 is his. He has deserved the right to that number.
Hi. Please make a video about Juan Pablo Montoya in Nascar. Thanks
Do a part 2 but with the 25 of Chase Elliott from 2015.
I miss when Kyle used the South Park logo for his Pit sign
Kyle came to a regional grocery chain in my city the year after his rookie season. I wore a South Park shirt to the signing and he commented on it lol
Driver we all know and love? Yeah right
Kyle Busch, the driver booted from the 5 for a driver that only won 1 race in his Entire career on fuel strategy at Charlotte in one of the worst years of NASCAR history next to the first full time season with the COT!
Yes 2007 and 2008 were shit.
That hendrick 44 car in 2005 was trash too with terry Lebonte when he ran a partial schedule. People forget about that Pizza Hut/Kellogg’s Chevy lol
I have this 1:64 diecast but its extremely beat up from when I was little LOL
Do a video on the Hendrick Motorsports driver development program they had around the time of the #84.
Blake Feese, Boston Reid
Could you imagine stepping into one of these hot rods at age 18? Hell I was happy to drive my girlfriend's dad's '69 Camaro that had 350 HP..

No not really I never thought he fit in there
Casey Mears would drive the #18 (2008-09) as Brad takes the #5 (2010-18)
@@DupontandLowesWarrior you say that but Dale jr. Changed everything over there when he went to Hendrick and Casey Mears was already at Hendrick he took over the 25 when Brian Vickers let was released that's a fact in for another fact Casey Mears did drive the five car
For a whole season before he was released from the team and went to RCR to drive the 07 and then they brought Mark Martin on board to drive end to drive for the next couple years at Hendrick Motorsports
The fact is that the time breaking alaskey didn't have a seat Hendrick Motorsports they wanted to have as they wanted a spot for him there was nowhere for him to go especially when they change the cars car rule
Why do you think he ended up at Rodger penske's team
They chose to put the Wily old back go after one last championship AKA Mark Martin but a young driver and Brad Keselowski coup really I think when is Jeff Gordon's team he didn't really want to accept anything else he wanted to drive the 24 at the time
Brad went on to win a championship for Team Penske why are you still want also you know that Joe Gibbs would have never hired Casey Mears to be in the 18 that just wouldn't never happened please quit being delusional
@@ethanwhisman1277 Brad became a somebody after replacing Ted Musgrave (Who was Suspended for wrecking Kelly Bires)

What are the other "Worst X Entry" video he have done? I only watched this and Roush. Wonder how bad a worst Ganassi or Gibbs entry would look like...
I don't know if they'd have one. These seem to be for teams that have fielded part time cars that didn't do anything.
If they did though, Gibbs would likely just be JJ Yeley. Ganassi....maybe a Stremme or Sorenson?
