    Corrections/addendums:
-Sally (the blue car) is the prosecutor against Lightning McQueen, not the defense attorney.
-Racing and even walking competitions are a thing. It was a fairly stupid point at the end.

He didn't get a legal trial though.
The sheriff asked where his lawyer was and instead of giving him a chance to contact them, he just asked who wanted to be his lawyer. Doc showed up and said he wanted him out of his town (because he's a racecar and Doc has poor history with them.) Despite this, he overturns that former verdict after Sally (the prosecutor) showed up late. If a prosecutor is absent when the verdict is given, they can't influence the judge's decision at all.
All in all, Sheriff and Doc were the only people with any legal authority, nobody else in that room was even a juror, Lightning didn't get to contact his own legal agent, and he had every right to leave very early on. In short, they *did* kidnap him.

Unpopular opinions: I like the Cars movies. Not because it's the pinnacle of art but because I liked seeing Lightning McQueen let go and grow in Cars and Cars 3, the story of Radiator Springs, and tbh, I appreciate the dumb shit and the weirdly well-choreographed action scenes from Cars 2. They're not perfect or even very well-executed stories, nor do I think about them all the time, but they're fun and the lesson of setting your ego aside to learn and experience new things is something that sticks with me.

Well I know I am a little biased because of well... Look at my username.
Still though, I agree. And Lightning learning a lesson about there's more to life than fame and fortune isn't the worst idea of a story. I do think Cars was targeted at a particular audience, though. Besides kids, Cars is targeted at people who are into racing and the history of Route 66. Also, I think the celebrities being cars was moreso a joke than something that should be taken seriously. I mean for me, the highlight of Cars 2 was that Jeff Gordon-- my favorite racecar driver of all time-- made a guest appearance as a Corvette.
Here's the 3 biggest factors as to why I don't think Mr. Enter likes the Cars movies:
      1) He's not a racing fan. I think he's made it known that he doesn't like sports, so based on that alone, he's likely not going to be invested into this movie.
      2) He doesn't really care about the history of Route 66. While I don't accuse Mr. Enter of being unpatriotic, it's clear that stuff like Americana doesn't interest him all that much.
      3) He obviously isn't invested into the world of Cars. With this being an animated movie, you can easily explain the premise, "It's magic; don't question it." That being said, this is probably a movie he shouldn't be watching.
Also, I do need to call out Mr. Enter on him saying that the first cars movie wasn't very successful, and you could argue that his Shark Tale review bit him in the ass there. Cars was the second highest grossing film of 2006. This is even before merchandise sales. The only movie that made more was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

@@nascarfanatic2425 tbh, I'm not 1 or 2, but I do enjoy the energy of small towns and things like Dead Malls. I jokingly said to my friend while talking about this video that part of why I'm into Dead Malls is because of Radiator Spring's history. Which there may be some truth to, actually.
But definitely agree with you for 3. This is one of the times I agree with the kids' movie defense. Also, the first Cars movie isn't just about Lightning McQueen. It's about the town and it's citizens as well, and arguably more so too.

    • @nascarfanatic2425
      @nascarfanatic2425 9 місяців тому +1

@@shoyuramenoff Good point. Now of course, I do also have to acknowledge that Mr. Enter has shown he's not exactly a fan of this type of plot. Case in point, the SpongeBob SquarePants episode, Karate Island. Although he never made an official Animated Atrocities review on the episode, he does see it as such, and most of his hatred towards that episode is because of SpongeBob's attitude, so it's clear he doesn't like the cocky protagonist needing to learn a lesson type of story.
I still found this video to be really shocking. I mean, I knew he didn't like Cars, but I didn't think he would just drastically change his opinion this much about it this abruptly.

Lots I disagree with here. Cars isn't the best movie, but I think a good chunk of this review is either completely wrong or more of a personal preference than objective criticism.
"Can someone explain to me why a car is more sexually attractive than another?"
That's literally the case for anything with visual appearance. In real life, people are more attracted to the look of one car over another. This movie used certain models in the real world as the more attractive ones in their fictional world. Something doesn't have to apply to sex to spark an attraction. When humans have sex, they don't use their hair, but some haircuts make humans more attractive. Nothing about this critique makes sense.

1:35 TECHNICALLY speaking it is indirectly his fault.
He convinced Mack, his truck, to keep going to California all night to get first and get friendly with the Dinoco people, promising he will stay awake alongside him along the road (he didn't), even though Mack wanted to rest for the night.
So Mack kept going, half-asleep, which caused Lightning to end up in Radiator Springs and cause such a mess.
1:41 I don't know. Just look at the clips in the video. Lightning kinda left it kinda torn apart. While before, it was kinda old and scratched, but car/ people could still drive / walk on it.
2:14 I mean, Lightning was indeed found guilty and legally accountable, and had to actually fix the road, but instead, at the first chance of just getting out of his responsability, Lightning took it
IF ANYTHING this is less "make them look like kidnappers" and more "make lightning too unsympathethic"
4:16 ACTUALLY Mater was Lightning's (basically self-proclaimed) Defense Attorney. She was the prosecutor....
(Why I remember so much of this film?I watched it like minimum 7 years ago if not more)
5:17 I don't know. the premise works fine. The whole "asking about the lore behind their world" (like "who built the cars") is kinda... i don't know. Unnecessary?
If anything this is more a case of "why this premise is dependant on them being cars?" Couldn't this still work with them as humans that just use their cars a lot?
5:48 FUNNY ENOUGH, in the storyboards, there was an idea of apparently transplanting Lightning's brain to the road fixer machine bessie (although i think they were planning to do that only as a dream sequence)
8:05 apparently the only reason the movie is about cars and not just people using cars a lot
8:12 I mean, we have Running as an actual sport even in the olympics........

While most of these are good observations, it doesn't change the fact that the way they treat McQueen is just disgusting. The way they physically chain him up is indefensible. This isn't something the good guys would do, this is something kidnapperd would do.
If McQueen was a tief or something, then physically restraining him would make sense. But all he did is damaging a road. By accident.
If they're really afraid that McQueen would try to avoid his responsibilities, there are more than enough ways the law can coerce someone without getting physical. Like barring McQueen from entering any races or shopping anywhere or spreading news so that everyone would know that he's a fugitive.
Also, why does he have to fix it himself? Can't he just pay someone to do that job, like a fine or something? Or arrest him?
Also, can't they just move this repair thing to AFTER the race, or give him a temporary break so he can go to the races before coming back?

I’ve never understood the perspective that the first Cars was a mediocre move. I never heard it before just a few years ago. When I was a kid my friends and I were all enamored with it. With the exception of Toy Story, it’s probably my personal most-watched Pixar movie. Fantastic soundtrack, great plot, and, as others have already said in this comments section, it’s a true love letter to racing culture and Americana. So I’ve concluded two things from this video, Mr Enter doesn’t like the concept of a Cars universe or the Jerk to Hero storyline. It may sound a bit harsh, but this guy was asking questions about the Cars universe that you can place in a bunch of Pixar films that don’t matter to the story (why are the toys sentient, how did the monsters get access to the human world, why do rats know how to cook, etc).
I’m not this movie's biggest fan, but I know that this world was designed around the Cars living in it and that questions like how were the cars made isn’t really that important as to them that’s always how it’s been (unless we need a My Hero Academia styled intro monologue for every single Pixar film), stuff that would make you question the logic of the universe didn’t come into play until Cars 2 when they literally used Human Props for casual items.
Even if we refuse to accept the concept of cars, Mr Enter himself has stated that Pixar films work so well because of the deeper message they all hide past the base concept, for this film being to enjoy life and the events that surround them and not to rush to the top (at least that’s what I get from it).

And Sally I think she was the Prosecutor at the court, basically said to the town what Lightning did is a accident, and did not mean it at all so let him correct his accident, no matter how long it takes and him doing community service, because accident or not what he did is still wrong, by messing up a town in the middle of nowhere, getting no customers for a long time basically what sally is saying to doc, is you can’t let lightning get away with making everyone in the towns life, more difficult and doc has no choice but to accept it or take sally word, or else Everyone in the town, will be against doc not doing his job as a judge.

Its an entertaining movie with a good message. I remember liking it as a kid and it has moving moments like doc's backstory and Lightning getting closer to the towns people. As a kid, we like over confident characters. Lightning isn't an awful person, just full of himself due to his talent and youth. Mator has a good heart and plays his role as a dumb friend that can humble mcqueen well. Is the movie perfect? No? Is it a masterpieces? Hell no. But its a functional movie that did its job to entertain kids and has a good message. I understand not liking it and criticizing it but I don't see why anyone HATES it other than it because you're too old to be entertained by it.
Edit: Evidence by you nitpicking how sex, religion, and biology works in a kids cartoon movie about cars. One time on Two And A Half Men, when Alan had a new car and Charlie complimented it, the punchline was Charlie saying "It looks like my car's hot girlfriend" because Alan kept getting crapped on for driving a "woman's car".
Also, I'm not saying that Sally and Lightning had chemistry, but people can fall in love romantically and not find the other necessarily sexually attractive... but if sexual attractiveness comes from the love, I believe that's demisexuality.

One objection: You have a problem with the cars watching other cars race comparing it to "walking." It would be more comparable to "running" as in, he's a sports star. Maybe an Olympic athlete? Anyway, the analogy makes sense in that some people (cars?) would want to watch him. Still never liked this movie.

“Not a single shred of humanity in lightning McQueen for 95% of the movie” that’s patently false when the interviewers at the racetrack ask about any friends or family being there lightning tries to name his pit crew who just quit before being able to name anybody and gets a distrust look
Also throughout the film we see Lightning growing to actually care for the people there he’s clearly upset when he’s forced to leave
Also you criticize Radiator Springs for keeping Lightning hostage, but that’s basically how the legal system works. Lightning is basically on house arrest. The “siphoning gas” bit was actually a clever translation of a shock collar or detector. I understand finding the treatment too harsh but that’s more of a gripe with the legal system than the film itself. Also lightnijgvduht really “held hostage” given he’s the freedom to do wehatever he wants each day. He just can’t leave town until the road is fixed. And even that gets lenient as he’s allowed to take a cruise with Sally
4:20 that might be considered a harsher sentence… if the charcters weren’t cars. The fact Lightning is one means he can make the road alot faster than an individual human. While the film never states directly how long Lightning was absent the fact Lightning hasn’t been disqualified and the rematch hasn’t occurred by the time Doc calls the press means it can’t have been that long. I don’t know about everybody else but I’d rather take 2 weeks of manual labor over what could be months or years of solitary confinement.
You say it was a jerk move for Sally to plead Guity but I’d like to ask how the hell one could prove Lightning’s innocence in that scenario
Most importantly Lighting wasn’t “held hostage” he was under the equivalent of house arrest he was no more a “hostage” than Belle. In fact Lightning had more freedom than Belle given Lighting was allowed to go for cruises (hikes) outside of town with supervision and could go anywhere within it, he simply wasn’t allowed to leave until the road was fixed but could spend his time any way he desired. Meanwhile Belle couldn’t leave the Castle Grounds until Beast rendered the deal null and void and Belle wasn’t allowed in the West Wing under any circumstances. I’m not saying Belle has Stockholm syndrome, you’ve rightfully pointed out that’s a bad faith argument, im just saying you can’t pull that card on Lightning either.
Yes the worldbuilding is flawed and is a genuine step down compared to Pixar’s other works but I don’t feel that’s enough when the stories and characters have enough depth
Also for somebody who claimed “every character in this film is either a jerk, annoying or both” you didn’t spend a single second on Doc Hudson who’s the second most important character in the film and the main anchor to Lightning’s development
After the hot streak you were on these past few months Enter I must say this was a pretty weak video. Probably your weakest this year

It makes perfect sense for Lightning McQueen to find blue car sexy. He's also a car. Your argument is like saying "how can a bird, find a bird sexy, they're birds" I'm sure there are parameters withing the bird (or car) community and in the Cars universe. However, please don't explain them to me.

Well, I'm tempted to agree with the negative criticisms here a bit- this one's on the sloppy side. I'm not gonna sit here and say Cars is an underrated masterpiece, but I think it's clear you're both putting in way too much thought into something with the depth of an 80s Saturday Morning cartoon while also just getting things outright wrong.
It's fine you don't like Sally. But she's the prosecutor, not the defense, so her acting against him in court makes total sense. People DO like to walk each other walk, and run, and eat, and drink, and other basic things. They're called marathons, eating contests, chugging contests, and *races*, and I do believe all of them have been the basis of full stories. It's more that Cars doesn't do a whole lot with it despite the egregious runtime. The tractors act like cows and the beetles act like beetles because nobody cared about coherent, sensible worldbuilding and favored a quick gag instead.
I also always felt the criticism of 'how does this world work lol?' to be a fun meme that just got taken too far. It does not matter really why the cars have fleshy bits, or why they lock their doors, or why they have toilets. It's all supposed to be silly and nonsensical, and so it is. There are some more relevant criticisms like "why is WW2 canon in this world?" as seen in Planes and "Why is everything so weirdly sexual?" as seen in... the entire series really. But I don't think questioning why a product that was designed to be stupid and silly to sell toys was stupid and silly, or else we're going to have to start exploring the rich worldbuilding of G1 Transformer and My Little Pony.
I like you Enter, I really do. I've been here since your days of yelling at Breadwinners and MLP:FiM, and I really do respect and appreciate the growth you've undergone as both a creator and a person since then. And I'm still rooting for you. But this review does exemplify a problem you yourself have pointed out, that being your tendency to nitpick things that don't matter and get facts wrong. I don't want to see you turn into another Doug Walker, so I really hope you can find a way to catch yourself when making poor criticisms like these.
    Best wishes.

About the whole “Carsona” thing that I’ve wondered
Considering that Dale Earnhardt Jr is in the film, does that mean his father Dale Earnhardt Sr was in the Cars Universe? As seeing that the Cars universe mirrors our own universe, does that mean that Cars Dale Sr died in a racing accident (like he did in real life)?

With races, you have so many Olympic events around running. Speedwalking, marathon, 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 1 mile, 5000 m, and 10000 m for just running. Not counting the jumping sports. So getting excited for cars driving isn’t weird.
I also think you didn’t “get” the movie. The plot is about slowing down and appreciating the people around you. The movie only works since it’s a pretty slow paced one. This would be dangerous since you don’t want kids to get bored. But I didn’t get bored as a kid watching this movie, so clearly that doesn’t happen.
Outside of memes and stuff, I never paid much attention to questions like “how to cars fuck” or something. But I was relaxing enjoying the riffing between friends, Americana, and the nature presented.
I think this is a miss by you. I can’t call it boring if even kids can watch and enjoy the movie.

It's not supposed to be one-to-one with the human world. I see this done extremely often when people say "oh, so it’s basically like foot racing" when they talk about how this world works. I'll agree that they didn't think it through too well with the some vehicles being animals, but I'm tired of people trying to draw direct parallels between the real world and cars because the worlds are similar.
They are similar, but they're not supposed to be one-to-one.

My thoughts exactly! Even if I weren parallel 1:1 I’d argue that watching humans running super fast is still pretty exciting.
But like, do you see track sprinters crash spectacularly with their body parts flailing everywhere and explosions? Do you see Usain Bolt jumping over the broken bodies of his other runners?
