@@michaelderenne9838 Thanks for the econ lesson, dude. This video is January 2021. Lockdown started March 2020. This set was $250 well after lockdown started and demand increased dramatically. As vid says, couldn't keep in stock. Dick's Sporting Goods probably didn't want price gouging accusations because $250 clearly wasn't the price equilibrium (where the supply curve and the demand curve intersect) because individuals were buying these for $250 at the store and selling them online for $800 to $1400. The context of my comment was that Dick's was very slow to raise the price, but must have slowly realized they were missing out by not at least raising the price some. Demand also declined later into the pandemic. $400 wasnt surprising. Keeping the price @ $250 so long was.
Dude I’m sure you’ve upgraded by now but if you’re looking for a good bar that’ll last you life time rogue is having sale all boneyard bars (brand new rogue bar with cosmetic blemishes) are $150 I just got a 28.5 MM Ohio bar and I just switched from this crappy bar and what a difference!! Happy lifting bro
@@MOET02 yea I was actually gifted an Ohio bar. I still use my fitness gear bar and I have a CAP barbell I use as well. You can definitely tell a difference in quality with the rouge but they all get the job done! 💪🏾
@@ayebee4703 agreed man when you’re moving weight it doesn’t matter but the feeling of a good bar is just amazing especially to have that stability and control without the shake and rattle. I use mine as beater landmine bar for close grip rows. The cap is great starter bar but that Ohio bar was game changer I threw some bumpers on it Sunday morning and did light workout and I’m blown away. If you’re looking for bumpers check out this company is discovered HomeGrown Lifting . They’re based in Kentucky they sell bumpers for $1 a lb plus very very fair shipping I got 140 lb bumper set for $190 shipped to my door even titan or rep fitness can’t compete with that for their cheapest bumpers and I threw them around they held up real nice
I have this set with a squat rack and bench its been good to me since the shut down and in the future if they ever shut down again I'd rather have this set than nothing g
I bought two of these sets several years ago when our local gym closed down and decided it was time to start working out at home. This was pre-pandemic and I paid about $180 with a Dicks sale. They stayed in our garage for a long time until we refinished our basement and moved the gym there. We had some rusting but very minimal. I will add that we really abused those plates in the beginning so only a tiny bit of rusting is impressive. You are right about the bar. It gets the job done for most people who are looking to get fit and strong. It’s not a good option for super heavy lifters or cross fitters who want to drop weights from overhead. Given that the bar is essentially free with the plates, it really is the best deal around.
I love these plates. And for the price you can't beat them. Of course right now you can get some milled plates for close to the same price as everyone went out and hoarded plates thinking they would make a fortune and now they're stuck with them. I've seen milled plates on Ebay for $85 per plate which is absurd. But they don't have handles like these plates. I need the handles because I prefer plates for shoulder and core exercises over dumbells. The only downfall is the paint comes off onto your bar but a little sand paper takes care of that problem quickly. Don't buy bad plates anymore, go with these. Most molded plates you find (CAP comes to mind) will have holes that are filled with bondo. I have 4 CAP 25LB plates and they are 25LBS, but they are filled with bondo and it eventually starts breaking loose and falling everywhere. It makes for a rough plate that is just plain unappealing.
@@sweatyedits7722 To be completely honest I’ve been using the bar for everything I do (squats, bench, overhead press, deadlifts) and I’ve loaded some decently heavy weight on it (beyond the 300 limit) and dropped it. I started to notice there is a slight bend on it but nothing too drastic. It’s barely noticeable really unless you roll it on the ground and notice the spin is weird. I still use it but mainly for squatting. For $79.99 it was worth it all the way but if you’re looking for something that’ll hold up better for cheap I recommend the Titan “Regular Bar” for $129.99.
@@TheGjkddk ok thanks soon I buying this set for beginning powerlifting , Ik A lot people say don’t but I’m not that strong so I feel like it will take a while till I get to the max . Definitely like 3 to 4 month after I buy the set I will definitely get a new bar and some more weights
@@sweatyedits7722 If you can find it for retail price I say go for it. You won’t be able to get as much weight and a bar for that price. Keep in mind that the 45lb plates are actually a little smaller then the standard 45lbs. So it’ll feel like you’re doing deficit deadlifts(which is harder). I just bought two 15lb bumper plates for cheap and put them on each side of the bar and that fixes that problem.
Hey brotha I know it’s been 3 years and I’m sure you’ve upgraded bars by now but just a quick heads up right now all rogue boneyard bars $150 and some Oly bars (if still available) $200. Cheers man good lifting to ya

Just picked one up today in South Jersey. 300lbs is plenty for home gains in the beginning. The bar is basically free! Your paying for the weights.

How about the rack ?
Can you bench on a power rack?
Yes you can!
People are reselling them for $500 around me so waiting for them to restock, so I can finally cancel my gym membership
I know - people are taking advantage for sure!
restocked 3 days ago, bought mine tonight! better grab one while you can
@@ethan-hs3sq got my home gym up about a month ago absolutely love these weights
looked it up its $300 now
800 on Amazon lol
$435 for me ugh
How long was the wait time for these?
Took me checking for about two months! Btw - they increased the price by 50 bucks!
These are $400 now 😭
Does that mean you can put 300lbs on the bar or does that include the bar weight
Yes to the first one. I wouldn't go past 400 though.
Had my set for a month, love it so far👍
had mine for a year and works great, gonna upgrade eventually as the bar itself is meh but hey weight is weight!
Bought the $250 weight rack and bench from Dicks also. Great so far.
which one?

Do you have to tighten the end bolts from bar ? Cause mine came kinda loose just wondering
I have not had that problem. So far - it seems tight.
Mine also came kinda loose I think, the ends seem to move up and down, can you just manually tighten them with a screw?
I didn’t know it was a 300lb capacity on the bar. I’ve been loading 300+ on it when I deadlift lmao!!
You definitely can - but the bar won’t likely last long :).
How is it still holding up?
