Gino Odjick's death wasn't "sudden". He had a terminal illness, cardiac amyloidosis, which he was diagnosed with nine years ago. Most people diagnosed with this illness don't even survive for six months. Gino's survival for nine years is a remarkable achievement and a testament to his strength.
a few months ago, he stated that he was in remission.
I didn't quite understand it as a little kid, but what I learned about the greatness of Gino Odjick is that it's not about being the best or most talented - it's your character and your heart that makes for a truly beloved player, teammate or friend. A Canucks legend.
