    You said, that the city on the box isn't preety. Well... that's Warsaw! You can like it or not, but for someone from Poland it's nice and recognizable for sure. :)
    And the building inside (which You liked so much) is the Palace of Culture and Science - the symbol of rebuilding Warsaw after II WW. We dont like it, because it reminds us about USSR's domination (it's named after Joseph Stalin), but it's part of our history. So for me it isn't A building it's THE building.
    After Your review I'm excited to buy this game. Thanx! :D

    "Yes, it is a city but it's not a very pleasant looking city".
    Yep, that is exactly Warsaw in one sentence.

    it is interesting how the game simulates Warsaw being destroyed during WWII and then rebuilt. Nice to see this kind of incorporating history into game mechanics. Cheers form Warsaw.

      @grzegorzsparzak8229 7 років тому +5

      Yeah, but to truly simulate it, each player would have to take off like 80% of their tiles...

      true...

    perhaps Warsaw isn't the best looking city but it's charm and history is so alive. Walking through Warsaw is like walking through time and history! Love the theme!

    Why would I play this over other city building games? Among the Stars killer sure, but is it a Quadropolis/Suburbia killer? Or are those not fair comparisons?

  • @wroot_lt
    @wroot_lt 7 років тому

    Looks like a mix between Among the Stars, Between Two Cities, Quadropolis and some other games. It's light, so it might be more appealing to casual players and those who dislike Sci-fi setting (though Fields of Green might be catering to that crowd).

    Mmh, looks very good, but not sold on the "Among the Stars-killer" part. For me, the strength of Among the Stars comes from the variety of cards (even more so with the expansions). That's the main thing that made me prefer it over 7 Wonders, and I can see that also happening with this game. I will probably pick the game up anyway though, cause I love drafting that much :D

    How interactive is it? How would you compare it to Between Two Cities?

    • @thedicetower
      @thedicetower  7 років тому +6

      Sort of, but you have your own city rather than sharing with others. I like it better.

    • @justinjacobson7951
      @justinjacobson7951 7 років тому +3

      It's only really interactive in the drafting and, more specifically, hate-drafting. But that felt like enough to me. (I happened to play this with Tom last weekend.) I liked it quite a bit as well.

    This looks very close to Between Two Cities in theme and mechanics (scoring not as much). How does it compare to that?

    • @justinjacobson7951
      @justinjacobson7951 7 років тому

      Much greater variety in the tiles, which I really liked and would greatly increase replayability.

    • @Dalmatinac3
      @Dalmatinac3 7 років тому

      maybe greater variety of tiles but Between Two Cities i think is more interactive and more social as all players are involved with neighbouring players.

    Have you tried this with 2, and how is it ?

      rahdo called it one of the best games of 2016 and he plays exclusively at 2p

    I wander how this game stacks against Neom. Drafting City builder.

      halifaxstar I did notice he didn't say "into my collection" as part of his dice tower judgment :)

    • @leonard8510
      @leonard8510 7 років тому

      Looks to be a little simpler than Suburbia. I feel that I could play this with people who might be intimidated by everything going on in Suburbia.

      Thought he had among the stars in his collection though. Maybe he dropped it for suburbia / castles of mad king?

      ATS has a more appealing theme, as well. I do wish that ATS used the same robust tiles that this one does, though.

      What is more important, art style or gameplay. For me i play games for the gameplay. If both games were identical then art and\or component quality would be something i'd consider along with running time and ease of teaching.

    Tom, more or less entertaining than Quadropolis for you?

      who cares? both are good. the question is, is it more or less entertaining for YOU. (otherwise, check his ratings.)

    • @isaacthimbleby8926
      @isaacthimbleby8926 7 років тому +4

      Following Winnie's suggestion, he currently rates Capital 8, Quadropolis 8 and Suburbia 9 on BGG's scale.
      Rahdo currently rates Capital 8.579, Quadropolis 8.51 and Suburbia 8.73 on BGG's scale (Although I think he mostly uses the rating system to order games in preference, also I think his change more frequently than Tom's).
      That said Capital is £20, Quadropolis is £35 and Suburbia is £40.

      you're lucky.. Capital is pretty much impossible to acquire here in the U.S :(
