Oh my gosh! I bought 2 hats from Antonio Gatto’s shop nearly 20 years ago and wear them often. Sadly he wasn’t in the shop when I stopped in so I didn’t have a chance to meet him. His hats are amazingly creative and beautiful. 🇮🇹❤️
I had the impression Rajiv was with his Italian cousin. They looked similar in a way. Thank you for showing us these artists. I live in northern Italy and 10 years ago we still had a little shop that was selling only umbrellas. They where repairing them. Unfortunaly the shop closed like so many of these precious places. Seams that people prefer to pay cheap and throw, not my style. Molto grazie Rajiv
It is very sad, isn’t it? The same thing has happened here in the US for several decades now. We call them “mom and pop” shops. Everything is being replaced by big companies and now everything is online.
If I ever make it to Italy, I am meeting this craftsman in person, and requesting a beautiful hat as well! Thank you, Rajiv, for sharing so much goodness with us! ❤
Rajiv, your Florence adventure is amazing! I love how you honor the incredible craftspeople-it really brings out the heart and soul of the city. You have a great eye for detail, and I always learn something new. Also, just putting it out there-I'm more than happy to carry your luggage on your next journey!
I’ve realized why your videos are so wonderful not only is the content great but the way you speak and present he topics are very reminiscent of Levar Burton in Reading Rainbow. Not the same, you bring your own amazing perspective and style but reminiscent. ❤❤
We in America have no idea what a real craft made item like this man makes will last forever. One of a kind. Same with a shoemaker, custom made for you. I miss that in America. We all look the same with dumb looking identical hats, shoes like tennis shoes for every day wear is unheard of to me. I like this craftsmen with Class and a skill we will never have again in the USA. So sad. God Bless Rajiv for showing real class in craft made items.
That was a fine bromance! I think it was love at first sight for Antonio.. Rajiv woke up Antonio after Antonio woke up the fabric for Rajiv's straw boater hat! Pure joy!
Oh my gosh! This video needs to have more views. The UA-cam algorithm needs to kick in right now! This is such a wonderful video. The hat maker’s enthusiasm and passion, Rajiv’s appreciation of his craft and the amazingly stylish finished product makes for a fantastic video. Thank you for this Rajiv!
What a contagious personality Mr. Antonio have. I hope in your next trip to Italy you can speak to them in their own language, that will be a great gift to them. Thank you for these videos Surendra san.
Hats are such a staple for sun protection in the summer and for warmth in the winter, after all, your head cools down the quickest and needs to be protected from the UV rays always. I just discovered there is a hat manufacturer right where I live. Excited to explore them, Dankeschön Raiv and greetings from Switzerland.
🌹 Beautiful, unique and stylish....but enough about you, Rajiv! 😉 This 👒, a one of a kind, wow! But this is SO the way to travel, pack light and collect memories and new friends 💚🤍❤️ that's how not to annoy the local community with consumerist tourism. Glorious, wise and fascinating craft, Rajiv 🌻🥰
How lovely to see real craftsmanship. Everything is so mass produced in factories these days which you can understand because of the expense but when I see something like this it makes me appreciate the beauty of these hand made things. Long May they live.
What a wonderful person this gentleman , Antinio is, so earnest about making his customer happy, giving the hat his special touches, and so conscientious of giving only his best. The attention to this hand crafted piece of art is so evident. Thank you Rajiv for this very interesting video.
Italian jewelers do the same. They ask you to describe want you are looking for, and then they make it...QUICKLY!! When we were in Florence, the jeweler gave me paper and pencil and asked me to draw what I wanted. My husband almost went into orbit! He told the guy, " My wife has very expensive taste, and she is very creative. You do not ask this woman to draw a piece of jewelry!, Please!" Happily, for both of us, the man's sister found a gorgeous piece she had in the back room of the store and it was exactly what I was looking for😊 Viva l'Italia! 💋
Thank you Rajiv for sharing this video with the amazing Antonio. All those hats are beautiful. I have couple of hats made in Italy but nothing like supporting the locals who are passionate about what they do.
Hello there from Tijuana! It's great to hear you're enjoying Antonio's energy in ITALIA. He's definitely a force to be reckoned with. A hat box or hat protector is a great idea to keep your hats in shape. Cheers to you from Mexico!
What a lovely meeting of lovely humans. 💛 Thank you Rajiv for being you and for introducing us to such wonderful fellow makers. It's so nourishing to the souls of those who truly love craft, and care, and history, and relationship, so much more than "stuff."
This was so exciting to watch, the energy from both of you is so wonderful ! Such craftmanship for all to enjoy, please showcase more Italian handmade treasures !!!!!!
Honestly Rajiv we live parallel lives you and I. I just bought an Akubra hat that looks exactly like your new hat. Mine is made from rabbit fur Akubra hats are iconic Australian Bushman's hats. Your hat is stunning. Well done.
Antonio was absolutely a wonderful, kind, passionate, artisan. His hats were beautifully designed and made. I would love to have one of them. He really is likeminded like you Rajeev. I’ve enjoyed your Italian vacation so much and the people you’ve introduced to us. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Well that was lovely! Didn't think I'd have any interest in learning about hats. The craftsmanship and quality of materials is what interests me. Thanks for sharing and educating us, Rajiv!
This was interesting to see a Craftsman as well as a artist in his environment. Such a pleasant man . He reminds me of Geppetto with hats instead of puppets like Pinocchio. 😃👍

Rajiv, I so admire your intentionality and your way of approaching everything so earnestly! I think a lot of people are afraid to really enjoy or be earnestly passionate or interested in the little things and your videos bring a wholesomeness that’s needed on UA-cam! 💕💕
Rajiv, you and I have so much in common in what we love and what love to create (both in learning and teaching). I took a hat making (millinery) course many years ago but I would love to visit this lovely little shop and have a hat custom made…in Italy (is there any better place for handmade finery?). Antonio is such a delight and obviously very skilled at his profession. Thank you for sharing your journeys and passions with us❣️
You can tell this guy is extremely passionate and positive. Coolest guy!
The way he moves is just so awesome and beautiful, he's so free
When Antonio was talking about how the material feels, I thought , he's just like Rajiv. Very tactile.

Antonio's joyful laugh with his head tossed back as he steamed the beaver at 8:15 was priceless!!

The hat really is a work of art. What a talented gentleman who loves his work.
What a lovey video! The hat is fabulous, but I think I fell in love with the hat maker. Wasn’t he a wonderful person? And such good English, too!
That was a fine bromance! I think it was love at first sight for Antonio.. Rajiv woke up Antonio after Antonio woke up the fabric for Rajiv's straw boater hat! Pure joy!
Its electric to watch two people share enthusiasm for something.
I love that shot towards the end of all the hat forms. To think he knows the shape that each of them will make
Antonio is a beautiful example of someone working and doing things with passion & joy♡
UA-cam needs to add a love button next to their like button that I will reserve for videos just like this one

Rajiv, i love what you said. How the energies of certain materials go to sleep and when we use it its like its waking up again! Exactly!
This episode made me smile the whole time. I love Antonio’s energy and love for millinery is contagious.

The hat has a lot of body to it. Spraying it with weather proofing spray would "deaden" the natural body. So beautiful!

I’m definitely going back to Florence … for a visit to Antonio.
