- Thermal Energy Storage System (TESS) has been installed in the Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) building for running the airconditioning load of the CESE building as a part of our UI-ASSIST project implementation. The total capacity of the system is 775 TR HR which can run the air conditioning load of the building for almost 8-10 hours. Thermal Energy Storage system during charging mode, the 775 TR HR TES system would be charged up to -4 Deg C using the brine chiller, during the night time or off-peak hours. The Institute Central Air conditioning system chilled water grid will supply the building's AC load throughout the Thermal Energy Storage System charging time. The 775 TRhr charged TES System would serve the building's AC load via heat exchanger and pumps. The TES would support the AC load until the phase change material's temperature rises from -3 to 7 degrees. When the TES is in the discharged mode or if the AC Plant fails, the chiller will supply the building's ac load through a heat exchanger and pumping.
