I'm a producer musician if I work with a singer I make clear from the first email what My intention is and stipulate fees and any cost involved , I make it clear in the email what each person can or cant do with the works and inform them that any agreement will be over seen by a entertainment lawyer, I ask at the end of the Email simply "Do you agree or disagree" and that is the first recorded evidence of a copyright agreement befor we even meet to do are first season together.
Entertainment lawyers are not like criminal lawyers where there's an adversarial relationship with prosecutors. Entertainment lawyers also represent or get hired by studio execs and they all drink in the same bars, etc. And filmmakers generally don't drink in those bars.
Great Advised Thank you so much Film Courage for this video. It has been my biggest fear, because of lack of money, especially when you do not have a budget for a featured film you're shooting. So, I end up printing one I think is good and have people sign it. Hoping it's the right info to cover them and myself.
Hiring a lawyer can be daunting. But I hired an attorney at absolutely NO cost to me. Very experienced attorney that not only has made a movie, but a budding tv series. How did I do it? Actually this attorney came to me with the no pay offer. Can you imagine that!! It's TRUE, and he is on my Featured Film Focusing tv series. You should really check this out.

First thing I knew the day I finished first screenplay...copyright, then save cash and hire an entertainment lawyer to send me in a direction.
Great advice. Buy that book.
I wonder if this means Attorneys own a "piece" of the film as well?
No, attorney contributions are usually non-creative, but this is a good question.
