Wow I have been doing French for a year, and this opens my eyes to how bad I actually am. could barely keep up with what he was saying, my listening skills are my weakest point in learning another language
What helped me greatly with my listening skills in French or any other language (I don't know if it's well known or not) is the exercise, where you pause and re-play the phrase as many times as needed in order to write the sentence to the best of your abilities. Then you will see the sentence itself and you correct your version (and can even rate yourself from 1-10 to motivate yourself). You will eventually get so much better because you will recognize the particular words better since you already heard them couple of times. This exercise just helps you with your concentration I guess.
this is really great thank you only one thing that is odd. the man's voice in French is soft and very easy to follow - thank you so much. however the woman's voice in English is quite loud and shrill - it hurts my ears to listen to the female voice.
This aural/visual teaching style is truly effective. The college classes I had were a waste of time as no one could even form his/her own french sentence even after a year.
I haven't seen anything more useful to improve comprehending skills than this on UA-cam. 4 hrs of free and useful material.
This is a fantastic resource. Much appreciated. Students of French may wish to note that many of the phrases here use the passé simple. This is actually used very rarely in spoken French, so these recordings may be more suited to people moving to levels c1/2.
Excellent video for improving comprehension. I have just finished the 52 episodes of French in Action(which I highly recommend) and am eager to go through all four hours of this one. Thanks for posting!
Excellent, great video! I also think the English is a great addition. This way you can practice your French without having to watch the screen per se. You could do it while doing the dishes and still hear whether you translated correctly.
This is definitely an excellent tool to practice listening skills, but even for someone like myself who has reached intermediate level, I found it quite challenging. Imagine a French native speaking way much faster during conversations, it would be quite impossible to understand. I think it would be much better to choose phrases or conversations pertaining to everyday life, like dining in restaurants, shopping, travelling etc because that’s what most people need if they travel to a French speaking country for leisure. I appreciate very much for your efforts though.........
I am brazilian, so i am a portuguese speaker and I have been learning English for 6 years, and when i wanna measure how good my english is i go to a video like this where they are speaking a language i don't know absolutely nothing (in that case French), and i can see how advanced is my English 🤣🤣... is good for my self-esteem... maybe someday i hope i will be here to learn French🤣
I always thought I was really bad at French because I never learnt it formally (I was born there, both parents speak was never taught it) but after doing this, I realised I'm actually way better than I think.
I speak french basically fluently already, but something about french accents really sounds nice to me. this english voice, however... :l edit: the pronouncing of the "t" at the end of some words is really messing with me :D
Fabulous course Kendra. My brain/spirit have very little natural ability to pick up spoken French for more complicated sentences but this course has been very helpful in spite of that challenge. May you live long and prosper.
This is useful thank you. However, I think it would be better without the English audio as it takes away from the immersive listening. The English translation is on the screen so I really think the audio is unnecessary
A great resource for learning with one major flaw: the computer generated English voice is unbearable. There are so many nice options. This one is awful, the voice, the accent. I brace myself for pain every time she is about to come on. Everything else is really good. An excellent format.
I recently heard a french teacher on youtube say,"The best way to learn french is to dare to speak it!" I don't know if this is true, but i am trying the method and i am not sure how far will it take me,and how much fast!
Great, thank you! Too difficult for me but still helpful. For me it would have been great if you could have a few seconds to observe the text before he pronounces it again with the text. Or would be good to have a few seconds to look at the text in the end.
Please could you do a version without the English please? I'd love to use this for teaching but all the videos have English over the top which really ruins the whole idea of teaching the French! Thanks

Please! We don't need the English audio part! The written translation is enough!
why am I watching this im french

Over 4 hours! That's really generous, thank you!

you'll survive :)
Exactly my thoughts
English version - very loud and more attitude. seulement le francais suffit
@@andyaerials hahaha merci oui
Yep..if I wanted to hear this voice for 4 hours, I would just walk around in Walmart. 🙄
This aural/visual teaching style is truly effective. The college classes I had were a waste of time as no one could even form his/her own french sentence even after a year.
I love the advanced level of attitude and drama in some of these phrases. I am laughing so hard and learning so much.
Same!!!
Wow, I've studied French off and on for 3 decades, and this is great. Thank you very much.
This. Is what I have been looking for ....listening, speaking and learning
The more I listen, the more I realize how helpful this really is!
Thank you!

This is amazing. Thank you. It should soon have 100 times as many views.
I haven't listened to French in so long after learning it in school for four years and I still remember a good amount of stuff! wowww
Excellent video. I've been learning a lot by studying it. Thanks a million!

The videos give good listening practice.
This is useful thank you. However, I think it would be better without the English audio as it takes away from the immersive listening. The English translation is on the screen so I really think the audio is unnecessary
a great site to train your ear to listening to french

I don't know if this is true, but i am trying the method and i am not sure how far will it take me,and how much fast!
Amazing addition.
What I hear and what it is?🤔
Lord have mercy...😂
However, practice makes parfait.
Same here. The difference is truly clear 😅😅
Très intéressant, very interesting thanks
Thanks for the best aid in conversational progress
Great, thank you! Too difficult for me but still helpful.

it's getting hard more and more 😅😅 thank you so much
Is there a video without english subtitles, and without someone talking in english? Thank you - Mx
Merci beaucoup 🙏
Just what i was looking for
Amazing I love this video thank you
Tres tres joli j'adore
I love the fact that the English is provided - although it also emphasizes just how much better French sounds than English!
The guy's voice is soft and pleasant while the woman's is so jarring 😂
Oh lalalala MERCI BEAUCOUP!!
Very helpful:) Merci beaucoup
Très Bien et Merci Beaucoup 🎉💐🌹🌺
Merci beaucoup monsieur

Merci papi ❤
Just what I need! Thank you Kendra!
Why in the world would people want so much aural practice of passé simple, a verb tense that doesn't exist in spoken French?
So, i agree, it's so practice, and really teach.
love this...thank you!!
Thank you
