83a hardness wheels is WAY too soft on your stock K2 Trio LT skates. You need 88a hardness wheels for outdoor asphalt. I have 85a hardness 110mm and it feel walking through mud, compared to my 88a hardness wheels. Trust me, you will be a lot less fatigued since the rolling resistance is so much better with a harder wheel. I suggest Powerslide Spinner 88a hardness wheels.
That's a good point about hardness. I never thought hardness level was the reason why I felt more fatigue skating on my soft boots. I thought maybe it was just the soft boots compared to hard boots. Very good point. On all my hard boots, I have at least 85a hardness. Funny you mentioned Powerslide Spinner 88a as I own it now for a few months before I read this comment. Love it! I Have the 90s Powerslide Spinner. The soft wheels are good for smooth surfaces like tennis courts. It's good for indoor rink, but not great for urban skating. 88a are more difficult to find compared to 85a. I've seen a lot of 85a on Amazon, but not 88a. So far, Powerslide is the only brand I know that makes 88a. I purchased some 100s 85a Skt HP mainly due to the cheaper price. LOL I haven't tried it out, but now I'm thinking I should had went with the 88a. Appreciate the comment.
@@CatzzSkatesFamily Good hearing from you brother. Best wheels for speed outdoor... "Iqon aluminum core wheels" 80mm or 90mm, 88a. January 4,2024 I just bought a pair off Amazon list price was $139 and after tax it came out to $150. The orange and black were the only ones available but I think they look cool. I do like the blue and black better though. I skated last Friday night with my kids at a local roller rink and I rented inline skates. I have to say I was nervous because it’s been at LEAST 30 years since I bladed but I skated like I never stopped! I got such a workout! I was sweating so hard I was self conscious about how messy I looked hahaha I immediately ordered a pair of skates the next day. Such good cardio I can’t wait to get mine they’re suppose to arrive day after tomorrow! I’m a big boy and look a little ridiculous but it’s too much fun! 5’10” 255lbs flying around the rink!
Dude, you just summarized what I went through with my kid last summer. In one of my videos, I talked about how I got into rollerblading. I skated as a kid for a little bit, but that was over 25 years ago. My kids asked me to go with them to the roller skating rink in upstate NY on our last day there during our summer vacation. They never skated before so they were frustrated and cried at the rink. My wife never skated neither so I had no choice, but to man up and rented roller skates from the place. Did I felt nervous skating the 1st 15 mins? Yes. Did I busted my ass skating? Hell yeah. I sweated so much too. I’m near 6ft 230lbs+ last summer. My kids were glad I joined them and held their hands. During that day we were having so much fun. We skated until almost closing time so over 6hrs worth! Since then we went to the local roller skating rink twice and I hold their hands if they ask for assistance. I fell in love with rollerblading. Besides being a dad and spending time with them, I’m also doing it for fitness purpose. I love K2s so much I own 3 pairs. Kinect 80 Trios 100 VO2 S 90 Appreciate you sharing your experiences. I can relate to everything you said above. 😂
@@CatzzSkatesFamily I keep flip flopping on what blades to buy I just ordered another pair of blades and haven’t even received the first ones I ordered. 😂 I ordered Rollerblade Macroblade 80’s I saw a review about the base of the blade being wider under the arch of the foot which may be more comfortable for heavier skaters. I wear a size 11 wide and I’m pretty flat footed but I’m heavy at 255lbs. They both will get here on the same day and I’ll try them both out at the roller rink and return one of them 😂🤣 I plan on riding them indoors and outdoors especially taking the dog for runs.
Very good point about the base of the boots. K2 Trio is very narrow fit so I'm not sure if it's going to be too tight for you or maybe you need another size up. Rollerblade Microblade 80s appears to have more reviews than K2 Trio 100. Good idea to try both out and then return the ones you least like. That's the one thing I hate about ordering skates from websites. I like to try it on first before the hassle of returning it. That would be fun skating with your dog. Let me know which one you like better.
You left a lot of great comments on my videos. I want to make sure I take my time with my replies. Starting off rollerblading outside is scary AF. When walking on ground slightly titled may not seem like a big deal but for new rollerbladers it’s a very big deal on skates. That’s one of the reasons why my kids prefer to skate indoor. One thing I started doing is to assess new areas before I start skating. If it’s too rough, 80mm wheels may be too bumpy or not skate friendly. This is where big wheels helps, but it also a bit more difficult to maneuver and balancing for beginners. I had so many sh1t my pants going downhill moments. 3 scenarios that scared the crap out of me are: 1. Long steep narrow downhills. 2. High traffic areas. 3. Unpaved areas to a point your wheels can’t roll. This is where I need to decide to take off my skates or call 911. 😂 Just reading these comments gets me excited. I’m glad you picked up rollerblading as a hobby. The community is great. Everyone’s been so friendly and helpful.
Thank you for watching 🙏 . You just missed the Black Friday sale. I think it ended the past Monday. The entire K2 store including REI, Amazon and other stores was 30% off! I was going to pay full price for it, but wanted to see some reviews about the new model before purchasing. Couldn’t find any reviews. Since it was on sale I got right on it. At the current price $209, I think it’s still worth it. I really like K2 micro meshes with their soft boots. My feet gets sweaty quick so I never like the hard boots. Sure, K2 is not as popular as rollerblade, but I think they offer better aesthetics and best soft boots money can buy. What skates do you currently own?
I have the macroblade 80s, rollerblade. I like them but I want to try something that can make rough pavement go a little easier. I ordered the 100s a few minutes ago 👍
100mm gives you better control and if you give enough time then you will love it. I personally love 100mm over 110mm. But, if you can adjust to 110 then you will feel wayyyy better with a decent bearing. But, 100 mm is the best for insecure people like me. @@philorida
Great review, I don't know if I'll make my decision before you answer, but I hesitate between the Fit 80 Alu and the Trio LT as both are in promotion where I live. I was tempted by the Trio first, then I've read about them being faster and as I'm a beginner (I've skated a little bit 20 years ago and also do sometimes ice skating) so I was afraid the Trio might be too scary/dangerous for me even if they look cool so I was about to buy the Fit 80 Alu before I've watched your video showing the Trio might not be as extreme as I've thought haha. I only plan to do recreational skating, mostly outside (roads are really bad where I live (Quebec, Canada) so the bigger wheels seems tempting to have a smoother ride even if they don't turn as well, I don't plan to do any "tricks" anyway. So I'm wondering if you've tried them a lot more since this video and if your opinion on them have changed. Thank you 👌
First, I want to say thank you. Since you have skated before I think the 100mm wheels will be fine for you to pick up. If you never skated in your life, I would recommend 80mm wheels for sure. I’m also a recreational skater. :) I skated on the Trio for 1 month and have some videos recorded on trails with my Trio, but not yet published. I have about 4-5 videos recorded wearing my Trios in parking lots. For recreational skating I highly recommend it as Trio 100mm on long flat trails are much fun. I live in an urban area and many places are slopes so I do a lot of constant stop and go. Going uphill can be more challenging with Trios 100. You can probably tell in my current videos I’m rocking the K2 VO2 S 90 BOA as it offers a balance between of speed and maneuverability. I praised all my K2 skates. As far as Trio 100, I’m one of the few minorities who actually praised and raved about it in my videos. First, all K2 skates are very narrow fit. If your foot frame is more long and narrow, I think it would be a great fit for you. Just for reference, I wear Nike size 12 and Under Amour size 13. For K2 Trio I went for size 12 and initially thought I ordered the wrong size. After couple of sessions, it became a true size 12 and it felt even better. As far as performance, its great with the bigger wheel size. My strides aren’t even that efficient, but thanks to the 100mm I feel like Superman going at a faster speed compared to my 80mm. In long flat trails, you will get the most enjoyment out from Trios. Going steep downhills will be faster and going steep up hills will be challenging. Slopes with less than 3% grade won’t make much of a difference unless it’s very long path. As far as support, getting the trio tighten up will be different than most skates. Although it comes up the pull string, I always needed to adjust the laces manually to ensure each pocket areas are tighter prior pulling up the string. This way you will not get too much pressure from the plastic buckles. Couple of users commented on my videos about how they didn’t like the Trio due to lack of ankle support. Also, the default sole in the Trio is not as good compared to my K2 VO2, which is like $100 more. It’s still does it job, you may want to add more cushion to it. The socks makes a difference too. I used to get blisters on the rental roller skates and didn’t want to go there it again. After researching it, I wanted to go with soft boots for more air ventilation and K2 has a great reputation for soft boots. Bottom line, I love my Trio 100s and would recommend it. Once you get used to the lacing method you will get better ankle support as you will learn allocate pressure points. I have no problem skating on my Trios on parking or trails mostly for fitness purpose and spend time with the family. Sorry for rambling, but that’s who I am. LOL
@@CatzzSkatesFamily Thank you for the quick reply, I'm still shopping for deals and not decided yet haha. Nice. I never heard of the Fit 80 Alu until now. If you can afford K2 VO2 90 or 100 BOA, it offers the best performances within K2 inline skates. It’s like $309 USD. Redline 110 is their next product line up for competitive speed skating, but that’s like $700 USD. Good point. I heard great things about K2 ice skates. I haven’t ice skated for a long time and kind of scared ice skating. There was a recent video I watch, where one of the hockey player’s neck was slashed from another player. Whatever you decide, keep me posted.
@@CatzzSkatesFamily Thanks for the help today 👌 I've finally went with the Fit 80 Alu for 2 reasons.
