sun-centered by David Lang was commissioned for the Tallis Scholars by Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College, Cal Performances, Carnegie Hall Corporation, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Stanford Live, Moss Arts Center, Virginia Tech and Concertgebouw Bruges (Belgium).

Wow! The most interesting new work I've heard in years. Perfectly performed--diction, expression, and the intonation was perfect, which isn't easy when dealing with 2nds and 7ths. Compliments to the composer and musicians! I look forward to hearing this piece and group live.

I heard this performed yesterday in Vancouver -- it was STUNNING. Such a cool piece. Really interesting text selection and paraphrases. The third movement had me *hearing* the sun beating relentlessly down through the length of a day. I'm so glad that this video is up, and hope a proper recording will be soon to follow!
